Customers enjoy the Split Pad Pro Handheld Controller for Nintendo Switch due to its comfortable design, suitable size for various hand sizes, and high-quality build. Users appreciate the enhanced grip, great feel, lightweight yet sturdy construction, and responsive buttons. I play in handheld more than I do docked (about 65/35), and the joy cons can be real difficult and uncomfortable to use at times. These change that completely. Full sized controllers that are very lightweight that allow you to play comfortably for hours at a time if you want.
However, some things to know before buying:
-The Pokémon design is $10 more than their standard color designs. Something to consider if you’re saving money. I bought them because they matched perfectly with my red Switch.
-If you have accessories on your Switch tablet or dock, they can get in the way of these controllers.
For example, my Switch is encased in a soft plastic shell to protect it from everyday use. I couldn’t connect the Hori controller to the sides because my case was in the way of the nubs on the back of the controllers. Luckily, I was able to cut square shapes into my case with scissors to accommodate the controllers.
Another problem I ran into was the game case I have on my Switch dock that holds all my game cartridges. Those same nubs on their backs were in the way. Because of those, I can’t dock my Switch without disconnecting them entirely from the tablet. Not a huge problem, just a minor annoyance that’s worth mentioning.
That being said, these are great. Especially for those with big hands and like playing in handheld mode more. Highly recommend.

These controllers not only are adorable but so very efficient. They are lightweight for their size and durable. I travel often and am very clumsy. So banging around luggage it held up perfectly. I have a few of these types of controllers in different styles… I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!

Its not bad for the price, it gives you the extra back buttons and the turbo button functions and its pretty light.

A lot of people have gripes about this Joy-Con which I would consider unnecessary and quite ignorant if I'm being honest.
There are complaints regarding the inability to use it wirelessly and how you can only use it in handheld mode.
Fruitless issues considering:
A) They couldn't have made it more clear that the controller isn't wireless. It's 20 bucks for crying out loud!
B) Its limit to portability is something I would consider a good thing. Hear me out.
The left Joy-Con by default substitutes the d-pad with buttons. Why? So that each Joy-Con, no matter whether it's left or right, can be played single-handedly.
If you were to take this Joy-Con and play with it by itself, the d-pad *can't* register as good buttons to ANYONE. That would be just silly.
Anyway, if you need to use a d-pad while your Switch is in docked mode, you can simply invest in either a Pro Controller, Third-Party Controller, or SN30 Pro Controller.
This is, by all means, a handheld Joy-Con and it serves its purpose tremendously.
It gets extra points by default for being able to fit into my Satisfye grip.
I bought it to play Mega Man 11, and with zero input delay accompanied by the fact that this d-pad is very comfortable, makes my gameplay experience so much better.
It's a soft d-pad that presses quite comfortably if I do say so myself. My only slightest gripe which isn't even really an issue at all is that if you're playing a 3D game, the edges of the analog stick are ridged, and it's somewhat noticeable if you give it the intention. Once you get used to it though, it's perfectly fine.
The minus and capture buttons are also mushy as opposed to a tactile press, which is surprising when you first use them, and it takes some getting used to, but like the analog stick aforementioned, they're not that hard to break in.
I fully recommend this product for all lovers of platformers.
The ONLY reason I'm taking one star away is that my shoulder buttons both got stuck for no apparent reason. I'm assuming something went defunct with the Joy-Con and would appreciate it if HORI could get back to me as to why this happened. (and whether or not something can be done about it)

Great Comfy Budget Joy-Cons

I wanted an additional pair of joycons but also something that resembles the offical pro controller and it does that but without the HD Rumble but the back triggers actually come in handy for RPG'S in making menu interactions much faster. They're lightweight but also feel sturdy. They're very much worth $35-40. The only reason i won't give 5 stars is because the instructions doesn't properly demonstrate how to set up the assign the triggers. I had to just try and accidentally did it right, but other than that they are well worth the budget price for a handheld mode switch lover. Oh the Split-Pad Pro actually fits in the dock too if that matters to anyone. Ps they have a comfortable fit for me and i have small hands and long fingers btw. Hope this review is helpful :)

First let me start by saying the way they craft this product and the design it is just amazing. I honestly just love the design it’s self. The control feels amazing and comfortable on your hands. Not to big or to small just the perfect size. Love it!!

These are bigger and way better than the original joycons! The buttons feel and press better and these are a bit thicker like standard controllers so my hand doesn’t cramp up. I do wish they were a bit thicker and less pointy at the end as I notice that part is a bit uncomfortable.
I wish you could connect these together to make one large controller though. I have a non Nintendo set that does this and it’s great when you want to Hooke up to your tv.

I was sceptical when i ordered this but wanted to give it a shot since these joycons are made for adults/big hands. As soon as i started playing with them i fell in love! The hori split pad pro is amazing for what it is. Which is basically a xbox controller attached to your NIntendo switch. They work great and keep your hands from cramping up after long gaming sessions. I highly recommend!!!

The Hori Pro controller makes it so much easier to game on the Nintendo Switch. Connects right out the box. It even makes it more comfortable to handle. Playing games that use the triggers cause a lot of fatigue on your hand with the original switch controllers. These fill your hand for complete grip. The only thing that bothers me is not having a small/slim case to transport because the controllers are big. So I carry it naked more versus in a case.

A viable replacement for Joy Cons!

Fantastic Joy Con Replacement. Absolutely nothing will beat this. It is well built, has about 98% of all the features of a Joy Con, and is 30 dollars cheaper. The only things I dislike about it would be that you have to use it in handheld, and that it doesn't have motion controls or NFC support (for Amiibos).

I bought my twins Nintendo Switches a couple years ago. Right away one of them broke the right joy-con. Super frustrating as they are expensive. So i bought a replacement online and he did it himself. Well, that did not last long either, so after searching my options, we decided on this controller. They are so great!! MY son loves how it feels like a real video counsel. He said these are actually better than his joy-cons. They are much cheaper too, so a win win for all.

They fit great, give a lot more ergonomics to the console, cant speak as to the special buttons, my son uses the device and hasn't asked me about them. love that it completely changes the look of the switch. was concerned that it wouldn't fit on the dock, but i can assure you it does
