This was a Christmas gift for my 12 year old son and he has used it every day since then. The colors are stunning and the speaker that syncs to his music is so much fun!

Had this for almost a year when it started to break. My 10 year old is average height/weight. We never went over the weight limit ever. And the shell cracked and we can no longer use it. There are no spare parts either..

I am, and with this Hover-1 Astro, I’ll roll quick & fast! I have to say hands down this is the most scary fun I’ve had in a while. How could something so small and seemingly easy be so difficult and slightly scary at the same time? And by scary I don’t mean heart pumping, omg I’m gonna break every bone fear...just “uh oh, how am I gonna get on here without falling in front of people” fear. This, hands down, is definitely a cool big kids toy to have. Lights, music, and away you go!! The LED lights on the Astro are absolutely bold and bright, but not overwhelming. With the App, you have control of the lights from strobing, random, responding to music (which I have to say for a 10-watt speaker isn’t bad at all), or you can keep the lights solid. And, there’s an entire color wheel of options to choose from. So, if you plan to ride this thing at night, you will definitely be seen! You’re also able to control the brightness level of the lights through the app. Maybe it’s just me, but I really like the rubberized foot pads on the top of the Astro. It’s grippy and has almost a soft-button feel to it. Once onboard, there’s a few seconds of doing a balancing act while laughing at myself rocking back & forth trying to get fully settled and balanced....it makes me laugh every single time. But, once I’m on it, I’m ready to take off......so i thought. Of course I had to go through the whole learning curve of finding my balance, turning properly, speed control, etc. but eventually I got the hang of it. Just to be safe I started off in my house, traveling from room to room. Since I have hardwood floors it made the ride extremely smooth, until I got to my rugs. Maybe it’s because I was going so slow, the Astro had trouble getting on the thin rugs when the wheels are lined up straight on with the rug. But I got better and better, and was able to take it on/off the rugs with ease. By this point I felt confident enough to take it outside, with my phone again and watch the speedometer and battery life on the app. I’m happy to say the app is quick and responsive, and the build is straightforward so there’s really no room for confusion. There’s also 3 ride levels; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. All of which are fun. Hands down this is enjoyable, period. I already plan to add on the buggy attachment....for the kids of course lol. All in all, I give this product a 5....ease of use, looks & style, quality, compatibility with the app, this easily gets a solid 5 stars from me.

So before anything, I highly recommend watching a tutorial. By that, I mean a real tutorial of someone who is a pro, not someone “trying it out”. Watching the right tutorial can make the difference between loving it vs liking it. Learning the how to’s, as is how to mount, balance, techniques, care of your hover and more are of upmost importance. Downloading the app was quick and I was playing tunes out of my hover instantly. Changing the color of the lights is easy with the app and keeping track using GPS and more with the app is a breeze. I ensured I had my safety gear as recommended in the instructions, especially it was my first time using a hover board. While I have excellent balance on roller skates, bike, skateboard and more....the type of balance needed for the giver is slightly different as the board is very sensitive to your body/foot movements. You can use a combo of foot/ankle vs body position to manipulate the hover to command it to move where you want it to. after a while it seems like you both become one and it can read where you want to go. The ride is smooth and the hover is powerful. It’s has a decent weight to it so it’s not flimsy and well built. It has safety features in place to prevent fires as explained in the pamphlet in the box. I recommend not playing music until you’ve become comfortable with riding it and learning some techniques so you can focus on where you are going and not getting lost in the tunes. The hover really packs a pinch and gets you on your way. Watch our for bumps and be ready to launch off when on uneven terrain. knowing how to get off is just as important as getting on. It’s recommended to charge for 6 hours first time around and not to surpass the 6 hrs. A change in light indicator will notify you when a full charge has been met. The sound of the speakers are impressive.

    Nice Hoverboard with Disco Lights!

The Hover-1 Astro is an exciting, multi optional hoverboard, for people of all ages (except in the app, more later) Out of the Box the Astro is a solid unit, very well put together, Disco lights all over in the front, back and foot pads. The lights are customizable via the app. The app needs work and is not very user friendly. First off when signing up the Age only goes back to 1970. So, if you are any older, I guess you cannot use it? Ha-ha. Then in the optional area (phone and sex) it is not optional, you must fill this out. Why it needs my phone number other than possibly to sell it in the future is beyond me. So, I put “one” in and logged in and was able to Bluetooth it fast. I like the fact that you can set your skill level and yes it works. The first time I tried it, I looked like a hula dancer trying to get my balance and gave up after a few minutes. But after, I set it to beginner the self-levelers helped me and after a minute of somewhat shaky riding it was smooth. I think the trick besides balance (which the unit helps you with) is all in the ankles. As long as you keep them tight. The rest is in the Astro and it does help keep you level. I am 52 and was up and going in beginner mode in a few minutes. To Bluetooth the music you must pair it directly through your phone by blue toothing again. (should not have to do this again after initial pairing the unit.) The speaker is not much to talk about. It basically plays music in a muffled tone. The app will also let you track your path via GPS. Kids take to it fast. My daughters jumped on it and took off no issues. They absolutely love it. The battery is good for about 6 miles plus or minus. I am sure if you play music and have all the lights going it will be less. But charge time is fast. Initially it took about 20 minutes to charge the first time. I then left it on for an additional 2 hrs. and much to my relief there was no heat issues with the AC adapter or the unit itself. I have seen in the past they can and do get hot. I am happy the Astro has this taken care of. If you are in the market for a great Hoverboard that has multiple skill levels, disco type lights, then this is for you. I would recommend this to friends and family (If they have good balance ha-ha)

I find myself in a weird place in my life. I'm going to be 40 next year but I've always seen these "hover boards" and thought they looked neat. These 2 ideas conflict with each other in my head but here we are now. So this was my first balancing scooter "hover boards" and I was pretty timid when trying it out for the first time. I read the instructions (more or less skimmed through the countless safety precautions) about how to get started and took my first steps. I didn't fall! I still haven't fallen. I think I'm still on easy mode and haven't really pushed this this to it's limits but it was still pretty cool to just get on and roll around without falling down. A very weird feeling. The science in these things is pretty crazy. So setup was a breeze. I removed the board from the box, downloaded their app and it connected to my board pretty quick. It even lets you connect to the board as a bluetooth speaker. It's not a great speaker and I don't think I'd ever use it when I'm outside because I don't feel like blasting my music for the neighbors but I guess it's there. There's like no bass to the speaker at all so it's probably just a last ditch thing if you really need a bluetooth speaker. Point is, the app connects right away and it's really necessary to use the hover board. The biggest positive is the ability to "Skip" account creation when you load up the app. I haven't seen much functionality lost by not creating an account. You need to skip the account creation every time you open the app after it closes, though. The app has a few neat features. It has a "mode" setting that you can use to set your experience level with the scooter with beginner, intermediate and expert (I stuck to beginner). It gives you the battery level and mph and even some "total" stats. Then you can use plot your trip with the GPS. You can also adjust the lights but the options are a little limited. You can do some solid lights, strobe slights or random.. If you have bluetooth connected, you can also do a music visualizer mode. I barely noticed the lights when I was riding, though. Riding was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I followed the few recommendations in the manual they give you for first time or beginner riders and, although I was a little shaky at first, it felt pretty easy to gain my balance and start moving around. I definitely have some work to do with turning but it felt like I was getting better as using it pretty quickly. I don't know if I can do much about the battery life on this thing. I have no idea how to compare it to others. The product says it lasts 6 miles on a single charge but I feel like this is completely dependent on the rider. My beginner riding might be able to get a lot more out of the battery since I'm not pushing it to max speed (ever) or anything. The battery doesn't seem fantastic but doesn't seem bad either from a beginner's perspective. One thing that I noticed right away (again, as a beginner) was the inability to traverse over fairly small bumps or cracks without some speed. It makes a lot of sense but it was something I didn't think about before getting caught up on a couple of cracks while moving around quite slowly. I don't think this is a knock against the hover board, though. I think it's more about the rider's abilities and understanding what works and what doesn't over time. Overall, I like this thing and I'm going to try and get better at using it. Luckily, it's a pretty warm November so I can get a little more experience in before the winter takes hold. While the lights and stuff seem unnecessary since I barely noticed them while riding, I can imagine they look pretty cool to other people. I'm not sure how beginner friendly most hover boards are but the fact that I have yet to fall off of this one (a couple close calls) yet makes me think either they're all this easy to use or this one is just that good for beginners. I'm not what this means, really. If you're in the market for a hover board at this price range, I'd say do you research and see how this one compares and if it checks all the boxes you're looking for, I can recommend this one.

    Broken No-warranty Response

My 12 year old son loved the hoverboard, learned quickly and the mobile app adjustments helped. We purchased it in July and it stopped working in early August. Best Buy instructed me to seek a warranty claim with the manufacture, they never responded after i filed a claim on their website several times. I suggest you purchase the extended warranty plan with Best Buy because the manufacturer will time you out of the 90 day warranty period. Mine expires this October and I will file a few more times but I don’t expect a response.
