Electric scooter use has grown exponentially in the last few years so I was very excited to find out what the hype was about. I have a lot of experience riding bicycles recreationally, and wanted to compare an electric scooter to bicycling. After a few days of using the Hover-1 Boss, I am totally hooked. It is well constructed, rides comfortably, and is easy to handle. It is perfect for recreationally or short commuting. I already want to get another so I can ride with other family members or friends! The scooter arrived double boxed. Once the interior box was opened, I noticed that the scooter was well protected by plastic and styrofoam. The assembly process was simple and I think most people should find it to be quite easy. The scooter is shipped almost completely assembled, and all that is required is to use four screws to attach the handlebar section to the scooter mainframe. The next step is to charge the battery using the proprietary charger. Charging takes between 5 and 6 hours. The battery is integrated into the scooter and does not appear to be user replaceable. Next download the App and pair the scooter. The App is not required to use the scooter, but is required to access certain functions. The App requires the creation of an account. There are four selectable speed modes: Pedestrian (P) 0-3 MPH Eco (E) 0-9 MPH Drive (D) 0-15 MPH Sport (S) 0-20 MPH. As soon as I got moving I was completely blown away by how easy and fun this scooter is to ride! The ride is comfortable and stable. The brakes are responsive and provide strong braking power. The throttle takes some getting used to due to the powerful motor, but it didn’t take me long to get the hang of it. I really like how the modes limit the speed. If you are new to electric scooters, I recommend practicing with Eco mode first to get accustomed to the throttle. In Drive and Sport mode the throttle has quite a bit of kick. This is also helpful because some cities have a scooter speed limit of 10 mph in congested pedestrian areas. The scooter has the kick to start safety measure enabled by default, and I am going to keep that function on. This prevents the throttle from engaging the acceleration unless the scooter is moving. This will prevent accidental acceleration before the rider is completely on the scooter. The scooter is easily controlled by the App or the multi-function power button. While I am riding I use the button to quickly cycle through the speed modes. A quick double press of the button will turn the headlight and taillight on and off. In Pedestrian mode the lights are on by default. The lights are both sufficiently bright. The App is the only way to lock and unlock the scooter. When locked the scooter motor can not be engaged, but the wheels will still spin so a chain lock is advisable to prevent theft. The LED display on the scooter provides information on all of the scooter's vital functions. It is easy to read except in direct sunlight. After about 15 miles my battery charge was an excellent 80 percent full. I initially kept my speed at about 10 mph. I will easily be able to get the rated 24 miles per charge. The maximum range can be extended by riding at slower speeds and by riding downhill to maximize natural momentum. Likewise avoiding inclines and uneven terrain will maximize battery power. Finally, how does this compare to riding a bicycle? I enjoy both equally depending on the situation. If I am riding off road or on uneven terrain, I will ride my bicycle. If I want some leg exercise then I will use my bicycle. Even though I was pleasantly surprised that I got more of a workout riding this scooter than I expected, due to the standing riding position that engages the core muscles. But when I want to run around and have fun, I will definitely choose this scooter. Even though I would not describe it as easily portable due to the weight and size, it is much easier to transport than a bicycle. Since the handlebars can be folded down I can easily fit it in my back seat or trunk. I am very much looking forward to bringing it with me the next time I go somewhere I can ride.

The H-1 Pro Series Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter redefines the electric scooter experience with its impressive power, comfort, and array of features. With a robust 500W brushless motor, it effortlessly reaches speeds of up to 20 mph, while the rechargeable lithium-ion battery ensures a remarkable range of up to 24 miles on a single charge. A full charge from empty takes 6.5 hours. The scooter's dual front and rear suspension, paired with the 10" honeycomb tires, guarantee a smooth and enjoyable ride. Apart from its exceptional performance, the Boss boasts various features that cater to both commuters and recreational riders. Its folding design allows for easy transportation and storage, and the inclusion of a remote lock security feature ensures peace of mind. The premium LED display offers valuable information such as current speed, speed mode, battery level, and more. Operating the scooter is a breeze with its single power button conveniently located on the face. While a more comprehensive set of features and settings can be accessed through the mobile app, the power button controls provide quick access to commonly used functions. A summary of the power button controls includes toggling the headlight, switching between miles and kilometers, activating cruise control, toggling the kick-to-start setting, and switching between trip mileage and odometer. In conclusion, the H-1 Pro Series Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter is an outstanding choice for those seeking a powerful, comfortable, and feature-rich ride. Its impressive range, comfortable suspension, and host of additional features make it ideal for both commuting and leisurely rides. However, it is worth noting that this scooter falls on the higher end of the price range and may not be as widely recognized as some other brands. Pros: Powerful 500W brushless motor Impressive range of up to 24 miles Dual front and rear suspension for a smooth ride 10" honeycomb tires for added comfort Convenient folding design Remote lock security feature Premium LED display for essential information Cons: Higher price point Heavier weight at 46.9 pounds Not as fast as other electric scooters May not have the same brand recognition as some competitors. Overall, the H-1 Pro Series Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter is an excellent choice for those in search of a powerful, comfortable, and feature-rich electric scooter. It offers a satisfying range, comfortable ride, and an impressive range of features that cater to commuters and recreational riders alike. However, individuals with budget constraints or those who prioritize brand recognition may find other electric scooters better suited to their needs. I must say, I have played with this new scooter for the past week, and I have had so much fun with it. I finally get to keep up with my kids when they ride their bikes instead of running after them. I find myself giggling like a kid for hours when riding this thing, it is so much fun. I am a bigger guy at 6’1” and weighing 240lbs, and this scooter has no problem getting up to 20mph, and fast.

In a sea of e-scooters under $1k, few can reach 20mph and with over 20 miles of range. This Hover Scooter Boss R500 can do just that. At first glance, this scooter is huge at first. Coming from a regular full size adult scooter, I had to get one to keep up with my kids, this thing is massive…and rightly so. With a huge battery and a 500 watt motor, this thing can fly. It even accommodates up to 264lbs so you know this scooter is well made. 20mph at first go was exhilarating to say the least. A scooter should never need to go this fast but man it’s fun to do. Out of the box, just need 4 allen screws to secure the handlebar and you will be off riding within minutes. On the handlebar is the speed read out with battery meter, bell to warn pedestrians and 2 hand brakes. One hand brake operates the disk brake in the rear and the other operates the drum brakes on the front. The brakes are noisy when activated but I hope it will quiet down with more use. The kick stand is sturdy and with no risk of the scooter toppling over. The scooter did come precharged from the factory with about 30-40% battery. The app is optional but highly recommended if you want to unlock some features. More on this later. Pairing the scooter to the app was simple but does require you to create a login with email. In the box beside the scooter is a few spare screws, allen wrench, manual and charging cable. Charging is as easy as plugging the adaptor to the wall. No charging indicator on the actual scooter but a simple red or green LED on the charging brick. Manual did mention that it would take around 6 hours to fully charge but that can be easily done overnight. The range, speed and build quality is top notch. No wobbly handle bar and it folds down to store and carry. The LED screen is easy to read and gives all your info at a glance. It’s not a touch screen but a single button operation. The screen can also scratch very easily so be careful on cleaning the screen as you don’t want the soft plastic screen cover to be covered in swirl marks. With only one button, changing settings can be tricky because a long press will turn on or off the scooter. 2 quick presses will turn on the headlights and taillights. 3 taps for MPH vs km/h. 4 taps to toggle cruise control. Lastly, 6 taps for the display to show odometer or current trip meter. This can be confusing but all you really need to know is 1 long press to turn on and 2 quick presses to toggle the lights. Everything else can be changed within the phone app. Like I mentioned above, pairing the new scooter to the app is easy and is by bluetooth. The app allows you to change all the settings that’s not found via scooter button presses. One is the minimum speed before activating the motor. Default is that you have to be over 1mph before the thumb throttle will work. A setting in the app can change that speed to zero. Speaking of thumb throttle, it can be touchy but with a bit of practice, the thumb throttle can be smooth with some finesse. The app also allows you to “lock” the scooter. What this does is if you lock the scooter with the app and power the scooter down, upon turning the scooter on, the wheels will have a huge drag resistance applied so it would be hard to kick away on. One can easily circumvent this by not turning on the scooter and can easily kick away. But the scooter will still not “unlock” the drag resistance until you connect via bluetooth to your app and unlock the scooter from the app. It's cumbersome but better than nothing. A key fob and an alarm will be a welcoming addition if Hover is reading this. Ride quality is as good as a solid tire can get. It’s not pneumatic tires but does include front and rear shocks. The shocks are pitiful but better than nothing. At 20mph, the short wheelbase of a scooter can be tricky to master. The gripes I have with this scooter is that there isn't a built in security alarm or key fob to unlock. The scooter still works with the kickstand in the down position so that can be an issue. And the handle bar grips themselves don’t collapse when not in use to save room for transporting or storage. The headlights aren’t bright enough to go 20mph in the night. It’s really meant to be seen by cars and people. In summary, I do recommend the Hover Boss R500 scooter for people looking for a fast and solidly built e-scooter. 20mph speed paired with a rock solid build construction puts a smile on my face from ear to ear every time.

The Hover 1 Boss R500 is a blast to ride. Scootin’ around my neighborhood gives me the same joy that I had as a child with my cheap, beat up kick scooter. Only now I’ve got real speed and some legitimate range. Prior to the R500, I had one other electric scooter and it wasn’t anything special. Its battery was in the handlebar stem and it maxed out at 15 mph with a range of MAYBE 10 miles. I used it over multiple summers to get between breweries and parks with friends. The R500 is a massive upgrade in a few key ways: 1) Setup and build quality. Right out of the box, you can tell this thing is a beast, weighing it at ~47 pounds. Setup took all of 5 minutes as you only need to screw on the handlebars. Extra screws are included, just in case. The frame is made of metal, as is the folding mechanism. I feel no play while riding, even on rougher terrain. 2) Features. The R500 has a very informative display, multiple drive modes, cruise control, headlights, tail lights/brake lights, built-in bell, front and rear brakes, front and rear suspension, solid (literally) tires, a folding mechanism for easier carrying and storage, and is app enabled/ compatible. 3) Usability. 20 mph doesn’t sound all that fast, but when you’re moving that quickly while standing just a few inches off the ground, it’s plenty. It’s a great pace for running errands or skipping traffic in a more densely packed downtown area. The battery pack is located within the deck, which keeps the center of gravity low and ride stable. 24 miles of range is perfectly adequate for most use cases. The hook that latches when folded makes a great bag hanger for quick trips to the store. The Hover 1 E Mobility app rounds out the whole experience. 4) Comfort and safety. The solid tires ensure that nothing gets punctured, which could cause you to lose control. The front and rear suspension does a nice job of absorbing bumps and other small imperfections in the pavement for a smooth ride. My previous scooter had no suspension whatsoever. Cruise control beeps twice to let you know it’s activated so you aren’t suddenly confused as to why the scooter isn’t slowing down after you take your thumb off the throttle. The integrated headlights and tail lights are a nice touch for riding at night and ensure you’re always visible. I appreciate that the tail lights blink while braking. They’re sure to grab the attention of anyone driving behind you. So why isn’t the Hover 1 Boss R500 perfect? I don’t feel like the display is bright enough. In direct sunlight, I’ve struggled to see important information like speed. Out of the box, my scooter’s brakes were not working well enough. Squeezing the brake levers brought them all the way to the grips. Stopping wasn’t happening quickly. I had to adjust this for better stopping power. Not the end of the world, but not something I really cared to do with a brand new product either. Finally, the Hover 1 brand isn’t the most well known. I previously had a Hover 1 hoverboard and it didn’t last long before breaking. TBD on this scooter. There is a 1 year warranty so let’s hope any issues pop up before that expires. As with any tech, your use case will dictate if this is the right electric scooter for you. I personally have a blast riding the Hover 1 Boss R500 and it fits my use case well. I would recommend keeping it on your shortlist as you shop around.

    Solid E-Scooter with some weight

The Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter from Hover 1 is a solid electric scooter with a premium feel, but with some extra weight. With a top speed of 20mph and a range of 24 miles, this will get you around easily and quickly. Living in a big city, I’ve been able to try many different electric scooters each summer with the numerous E-scooters available. But this is my first time owning an electric scooter, which is exciting leading into summer! Pros: - Solid Construction. - Modes make it easier to control and friendly for new users. - Dual brake types that respond well. Cons: - On the heavier side at ~47lbs. - Handles are designed for the taller crowd. Setup out of the box was easy, maybe 5-10mins to attach the handlebars, tools and spare screws are included. The power plugs into a covered port on the left side which is great for keeping the charge port clean. This unit uses an external converter, so you will want to bring along the charger if you are going to be riding near or beyond the 24-mile limit as you will have to use the provided charger to recharge. Full charge took the estimated ~5.5 hours, though between uses charging up kept the Boss R500 going strong. Unlike older e-scooters I’ve tried, I didn’t notice any drop in performance when under 10% power. This is one heavy e-scooter at ~47 lbs., this foldable scooter is not easily called portable. This is not one you will want to take on the train or carry around with you while you’re travelling, or up and down 3 flights of stairs daily. But it makes up for the weight with the solid construction and design choices. The 10in solid tires and dual suspension on both front and rear wheels handle bumps with ease, providing a smooth ride with little discomfort for the rider. The dual brake system is very responsive, drum brake on the front and disk brake on the rear. This was rather helpful as it easily allowed for a quick stop if needed or a gradual slowdown to a stop. The interface is simple to use and understand, there is only 1 button on the dashboard display that functions as the Power On button and the mode cycler. The LED display on the dashboard is clearly visible even in direct sunlight, I had no issues reading the display in varying conditions. The 4 drive modes limit the maximum speed: Pedestrian (0-3 mph), Eco (0-9 mph), Drive (0-15 mph), and Sport (0-20 mph). This was a huge help as the throttle is very sensitive, I found it took a time to get used to keeping a constant speed. Which made triggering the cruise control feature rather hard at first, as it was hard to apply the same pressure for 6 seconds. It took me about 30 minutes to get the hang of the cruise control, which made the ride much more comfortable. The paired app is very easy to setup and navigate. A quick sign-up process links your account to the scooter, which allows you to access more features on the scooter such as Lock, Light controls, and sharing functionality. I played around with the sharing functionality with my Partner, who had no issues pairing with the device once I setup her account and shared the device home with her. It’s like other shared home devices features. We did find that the height of the handlebars is clearly designed for the taller crowd. I’m 5ft 7in and my partner is 5ft 2in, and we both found the height of the handlebars to be a little awkward for us. It’s not enough to be unsafe but took a while to get comfortable with the height. Let’s not forget about the absolute best feature of this scooter, an old school bike bell! But seriously, the bell is loud enough to clearly hear it over traffic. Paired with the headlight and taillight, the scooter is better equipped than most with safety features to enable you to enjoy your ride while staying safe from traffic. Overall, I really enjoyed the Boss R100 Electric Scooter. It will be a great way to get around the city this summer, but I will be looking for a place on the ground floor to lock it up in between rides due to the size and weight. I would recommend considering this electric scooter if you are looking for one to use day to day and want an easy ride with plenty of features. Just have an easy place to store it between uses or be ready to lift daily.

First, and most importantly, the e-scooter is heavy. It was quite the ordeal getting the scooter out of the 2 layers of cardboard followed by removing the wheels from their foam fortresses, but I digress. There is very little assembly required, but it’s there. You’re tasked with attaching the handle bars to the shaft. There are screws in place on the shaft already, and comes with four more screws and 2 allen wrenches. I’m guessing the extra screws are included in the event that you go in at a bad angle and cross thread the screws. Two out of the four screws didn’t screw all the way in, and weren’t flush to the shaft; I hope that this isn’t a big deal in the long run. The overall build seems great. The material used, the display gage, the lights, all seem well engineered. There’s a small kickstand at the base of the platform. It’s something so simple yet so useful. There’s a headlight in the front, and a taillight at the back of the platform. You’re advised to let the scooter charge fully for its maiden test ride, so I plugged it in to the rear base of the platform and waited. The one gripe I have is that I wish the insert plug was USB-C or something more common in the event that I lose or the plug is destroyed somehow. There are four speed settings available. I chose the slowest one (Pedestrian). I have never ridden an electric scooter, so I didn’t want to take any risks. The interesting part is that I have to use my foot to manually get it moving, and then press the throttle for it to get motorized. I found this a bit weird. The pedestrian goes at about 3-5 mph, but it felt faster than that… which is a good thing once I get better at it. Turning the handle bars gives you a fairly good turning radius. There is a cruise control feature which is great. The handle brakes are responsive, and the wheels had a few inches of slip. I personally like the slip. I would prefer that over and abrupt stop that would send me the flying. I wish there was a small compartment. This compartment could be used for putting in some books, a phone, a laptop, just something so that if you’re a college student or a work commuter, you don’t need to carry around a bag. Despite a few of the minor hiccups that I mentioned, it’s a well designed scooter. All in all I would recommend this fun but pricey scooter for anyone who wants to use it for some weekend fun or an everyday commute.

This scooter is so fun!! This is my first experience with an electric scooter and it was great! Out of the box, the setup was simple. You just have to attach the handlebars to the scooter using the included screws and tool. Then it says to charge fully before use so I did that and then it was good to go. Additionally, using the app is a must, it completes the whole experience and is actually pretty well-built. The build quality of the scooter is top-tier. I am a 6'1 person and I weigh about 215 pounds and I felt comfortable and sturdy throughout the whole ride. I found that I could hold on to the handlebars and stand completely straight up so I wasn't hunched over, which is perfect. The top speed that I was able to reach was 15 MPH which is honestly more than enough for me. I rode it around for about 5 miles at top speed and when I was done I had 68% battery left. I'm sure many factors play into this but I think that's pretty good. The throttle is sensitive, so be careful if this is your first time trying it out. I was surprised by how much power it had but I got used to it rather quickly. The breaks do a great job and the headlight and taillight definitely make me feel safer when I ride at night. Given how much power this scooter has I wouldn't recommend this as a gift for young children. I will mainly be using this recreationally but I can see this scooter being used to travel to work or for quick store trips. It can be folded and snaps onto itself using a strong latching mechanism which is perfect to keep it out of the way. Though, it is a bit heavy so be careful when lifting. Overall, It's peppy and super fun to ride! Just make sure to bring the charger with you if you plan on taking long trips.

A Good Scooter That Has Even Better Competition

INTRO: For a year and a half now, my daily commute has consisted of me driving to a light rail station 3 miles away, hopping on the light rail to travel a little over 6 miles, and then walking half a mile to my office, then doing that in reverse on the way home. So my daily commute is under 10 miles one-way, which really isn’t that much. So when I got the Hover-1 Boss R500, I figured I should try relying less on my vehicle since the commute is already so short. I’d get a little bit more time outdoors, and reduce my carbon emissions by using the scooter instead. UNBOXING: The unboxing experience was pretty easy for me. I had no help from anybody else, and since the scooter weighs in at 46.9 lbs, I figured it wouldn’t be too much of a challenge. The scooter is secured in the box by styrofoam and it’s further secured from dust and debris with a large plastic. I would have liked to see more eco-friendly (and less messy) packaging, but I’ve seen more egregious use of non-recyclable material with other products. Inside of the box you’ll also find the rather small charging brick, a pair of hex wrenches, some spare hex screws for the handlebar assembly, and all documentation on the scooter. ASSEMBLY: The included guide makes assembly pretty straight-forward. First, you’ll need to straighten up the folding hinge and lock it into place. Then you just need to unscrew the hex screws where the handlebar needs to attach, insert the handlebar assembly, then re-fasten the screws. That’s all it takes for assembly. Then you’ll want to give it some time to charge up to 100% before you really take it on a cruise. BUILD / FEATURES: The Boss R500 is a metal frame, although I’m not sure what kind of metal they’re using. I consulted the manual, but did not manage to find any information about the material. That being said, it feels quite sturdy, it doesn’t have creaking points, and the folding hinge doesn’t rattle or accidentally unhinge during operation. The kickstand is also sturdy and I did not have issues with it during normal operation. However, I do wish that there was some sort of wheel locking system so that the scooter doesn’t potentially roll while on public transit, as the kickstand isn’t strong enough to prevent that from happening. Throughout my time with it, I have noticed that the glossy finish on the display area scratches pretty easily, so that is an unfortunate design choice. Despite being 46.9 lbs, it isn’t unwieldy for me, and I have been able to pick it up with one arm while it is folded up. So compared to an e-bike it’s certainly a little easier to maneuver on public transportation. That being said, I drive a 2019 WRX and I was not able to fit the R500 into my car from my trunk while it was folded, which is unfortunate. It might fit some sedans, but my trunk’s opening and vertical height clearance simply wasn’t enough to fit the scooter. Instead, I had to fold down the back seats and place the scooter back there. If you have a hatchback, or larger vehicle you’ll likely have a better time fitting the R500 into your trunk space. CONTROLS: The controls for the R500 are pretty plain but some of the more advanced features also require a bit of memorization. Firstly, you can toggle the power on the R500 by holding the power button for a couple seconds. Once it is on, you can single-press the power button to cycle through the Pedestrian (0-3mph), Eco (0-9mph), Drive (0-15mph) & Sport (0-20mph) modes. A fast double-press of the power button will toggle the headlight. A fast triple-press of the power button will switch between miles and kilometers. A fast quadruple-press of the power button will toggle cruise control. A fast 5-press will toggle the kick-to-start setting that requires the scooter to be in motion before the throttle can be engaged. A fast 6-press will switch between the trip mileage and the odometer. And of course, you have the front and rear brakes, as well as a bell for alerting nearby pedestrians as you approach. However, I felt that the bell was out of reach for my natural grip, and I also felt it was very cumbersome to change options on the display since the button was inaccessible from the handlebar grips during operation. Because all the controls are functioned through this single button APP: As long as the scooter is on, the above controls (other than powering it on/off) can be engaged from the Hover-1 E-Mobility app, as well. I found the iOS app to be responsive once the scooter was paired via Bluetooth. I have not tried the Android app. There is also a “lock” feature in the app which basically engages brakes and disables the throttle while the scooter is powered on. It’s a pretty minimal auto-theft deterrent because it only works when the scooter is powered on. So while it prevents someone from using the scooter electronically, it does not prevent someone from still scooting away while the power is off—which you can do. The app also has an activity/route tracking feature, but in my personal opinion, it’s basically inoperable because it does not do any tracking if the app is not unlocked with the app open. I do not have a mount for my phone; nor do I want one. So unless this feature can be updated to run in the background, it doesn’t really serve any meaningful function for me. RIDE & COMFORT: The ride itself is pretty comfortable to me, although I recommend caution when operating in Drive or Sport mode. The scooter is outfitted with 10” solid inner honeycomb tires, so they have a bit of rigidity to them that means less surface area contact with the ground. In my experience, this means high-speed operation will need two hands on the scooter at all times to maintain stability. I choose to wear a helmet while operating the R500, and overall I feel safe as long as I’ve got two hands on the handlebars. I’ve driven over uneven sidewalks, city roads and some manholes, but would advise caution around potholes or driving through trash and debris. The dual-suspension certainly helps instill confidence to deliver a pretty smooth ride even as I traversed obstacles and made turns. But you’ll of course want to shift your weight as necessary and avoid taking sharp turns. Everyone that I got to try the R500 agrees that it’s quite fast. Regardless of which speed mode you’re in, the acceleration curve seems to be the same, but then you quickly feel it top off when it nears top speed. For the brakes, there are front and rear brakes, and I found that the front brakes are quite gentle so as not to accidentally throw you over, and the rear disk brakes are much more effective, but also more inclined to lock and skid if you apply too much pressure. The rear brakes on my unit make a high pitched noise when engaged at higher pressure, which is a bit unpleasant, but otherwise they are effective. BATTERY & RANGE: For me, I was surprised to find that the 3 mile trip I usually make by car to the light rail station is still achievable within the ~15 minute window if I’m going 20mph. Of course, this will depend on traffic and how many stop lights I hit, but I can also leave a few minutes earlier if I’m really concerned. For my use-case, this is actually pretty good and in some cases, I can see how this could potentially save me time when traffic is exceptionally poor and I’m able to traverse trails or sidewalks. The range is one area that I wish Hover-1 would be clearer about because they claim up to 24 mile range, but I think that is if you’re driving in Eco mode. When driving in Sport mode, you may get closer to a 16 mile range based on my experience, but that will still depend on your terrain. Even so, the manual claims you can charge in 6.5 hours, and given how portable the charger is, you can just throw it in a bag and charge it at your destination. CONCLUSION: Overall, I think the R500 is a decent electric scooter. But when you investigate some of the competition, I do feel as though Hover-1 is lacking some of the features and elements of usability that other brands are bringing to the table—especially at the asking price where there is a lot of competition. I will continue to use my R500, but I think it has also piqued my interest further towards what is available from other manufacturers.

For its price point the Boss R500 Foldable Electric Scooter from Hover 1 is a reliable electric scooter with generally impeccable construction and materials. Straight from the box, the partial assembly and charging of scooter is easy to do and figure out. With its 10” honeycomb tires, the Hover-1 Boss electric scooter delivers quite a smooth ride. You get up to 24 travel miles on a full battery charge. I travelled to and from a location that Google lists as 5.5 miles, so the total miles travelled to and from would have been 11 and the scooter's battery was about to die- so it's important to make sure to monitor your batter which you can easily do from the app (as well as several other tasks related to your scooter). At 47lbs, even when folded, the scooter isn't the most portable. It feels heavy, but that is also a testament to the quality of the materials the scooter is made out of. It feels as if it won't break easily if in a accident of some sort. The biggest selling point of this scooter is Boss’s 500W brushless motor which propels it to 20 mph. The LED display is easy to read and shows the Boss’s current speed, speed mode, battery level, odometer, and more. Potentially keep your scooter safe from theft with the remote lock security feature via the app. I would definitely recommend this extremely nice scooter to anyone who is in the market for one!

This is a sturdy, fast moving scooter with many features! It has 4 modes, pedestrian which is the slowest at maximum 3 mph, eco 9 mph, drive 15 mph & sport 20 mph. I haven’t got past pedestrian yet because this is my first scooter & I'm a bit afraid. It really takes off! My husband was a skateboarder so he’s been zooming around in sport mode from the start. You must kickstart it to get it going unless you use the app then you can throttle start it. The thumb throttle is on the handlebars. I suggest using it like a manual scooter to get use to it first. You can use it manually or motorized. There is some assembly but we had it together in minutes. There is an LED headlight , taillight, LED dash that displays mileage, speed & modes. Also a little bell is attached to the handlebars. Maximum weight is 264lbs. & it’s suppose to go 24 miles on a fully charged battery. We haven’t used it that much just yet to find out. The lithium battery charged quickly & does seem to last. Disc brakes are on the back & drum on the front. Fenders are on front & back & the front wheel is a mag. It’s a bit heavy but it folds down for storage. This scooter even has cruise control which can be set in the app or manually by holding down the throttle. By using the app you can lock the scooter when it’s on, once you lock it the throttle will lock until you unlock it. Front & rear suspension make this a really smooth quiet ride! We are loving this scooter, great transportation for a short trip & just a fun toy!

    Better Model, Much Improved

Just gotta say, electric scooters are a fun ride! And this Hover-1 Pro Series Boss R500 is that. I have a different model electric scooter from Hover-1, and this R500 is a step up, with many improvements upon certain "less than ideal" features of that previous model. Charging the scooter took several hours, but once you've read over the Quick Start Guide, Owner's Manual (DO review the extensive, detailed safety instructions!), and installed the App, you'll be good to go! The scooter comes almost totally assembled, all you have to do is screw on the handlebars (extra screws are included, which is a plus, just in case). Speaking of the app, it's pretty darn sweet! Beyond just turning the lights on/off, you can switch between Eco, Drive, and Sport modes - each of which has its own MPH speed range setting. But the coolest feature in the app, to me, is being able to pinpoint your location and track your ride on a map. Oh, and you can even set the scooter to cruise control. Give yourself time to get familiar with the controls and get comfortable riding the scooter. Press down on the throttle carefully, cause this Boss does "zip." It takes practice, and a bit of 'trial and error,' to learn how best to brake. The running board you stand on is wide and long enough, and the textured 'foot pad' provides a sure surface for your feet. The rubberized handlebar grips are nice and comfy to hold. The bell goes *ding ding*, though it could be louder. The only real 'Con' I can mention, is that the "on-board" LED display panel was somewhat difficult to read in bright sunlight. It is useful to be able to see your MPH and mileage at a glance. Both the headlight and taillight could also be brighter, but are about what you might find on a bicycle. One of the issues I had with my previous electric scooter, was in not being able to get the tires off and back on easily when they needed to be changed. We'll see if this situation has been improved in the event that this becomes necessary. I will say that the tires seem to be better on this scooter; deeper tread to grip the surface you're riding on. However, the tires are slightly smaller and you can really feel every bump you ride across. This R500 scooter would benefit from some type of shocker absorbers on the wheels. Tip: make sure the rubberized cover for the charging port is securely on, as you don't want water or dirt to get inside there. Overall, I'm having a great time scooting about on my Hover-1 Pro Series Boss R500. If you're looking for a good, solid electric scooter, I can recommend you consider this one.

I am very happy to say this has been a very enjoyable new experience for me. To begin, the setup was exceedingly simple as the scooter comes already put together. You only need to attach the handlebar to the frame with the necessary screws conveniently attached where they belong and the tools needed are provided with a few extras just in case. It is always a great and safe practice to check tires and brakes with products like this, though I must say the quality of the pre build is absolutely on point. Little to no tuning was needed since both are previously adjusted. In total it only took me about thirty minutes or less from package to ready to ride. The interface is bright and easy to read. The connectivity with the app is easy to setup via Bluetooth but absolutely necessary since you can only adjust certain functions via the app such as whether or not you want see miles or kilometers, or turning the lights on or off. With the single button interface the lights only come on in pedestrian mode. The preset ride modes are wonderful though especially for first time riders like myself. It has a lockout function that I find rather useless since you have to be connected to the app and the scooter has to be on. Once you turn it off it's disabled and ready for use once you turn it back on. Other than that I'd say this is a great purchase.
