Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the straightforward assembly of the My First Hoverboard Combo, with many praising the clear and easy-to-follow instructions. However, a common complaint centers around the battery life, which users report is shorter than expected, requiring frequent charging. Several customers noted that the ride time is limited before needing a recharge. The relatively short battery life is a significant drawback for many users.

Unboxing and assembly was easy, as well as the included instructions to follow. Less than 20 minutes to assemble, the amount of time to fully charge took forever especially when you are waiting to try it out. The cool thing was the combo - hoverboard and the go kart attachment allows you the flexibility to sit or stand. Living in a cul de sac allowed me and my nephews (7 and 11yo) to really test it out. It took 5 minutes to figure out how to use the handles and how to go right and left and backwards. So to go left you had to push down on the right handle and to go right you had to push down on the left handle. To go backwards you had to lift up both handles to go straight back. After figuring out how to maneuver, we tested how fast we can go. It clocked at 5mph max so it is great for young kids learning to use a hoverboard for the first time. The cool thing about this it that it attachment can fit 6-8 inch Hoverboards and some 10 inch which is a cool thing because you use this for the first time rider and then attach to a faster Hoverboard. So the Hoverboard that came with this kit is maxed at 5mph but you can use the attachment on the faster Hoverboards so you dont have to buy another attachment. The cool part was the number of tricks they were able to do, such as wheelies and 360s they had so much fun because they were lighter. Weight does impact the speed and tricks you can do and because it maxes out at 5mph the 360 are OK unless you start on a hill. Overall, this is a good purchase as a First Hoverboard for kids 5-6 years old because the speed maxes out at 5mph is will allow them to get use to the handling and provides flexibility for standing or sitting. I think the battery life is ok but not sure if weight plays into how quickly it drained. That is why I gave it 3 stars because as a kid the amount of time to wait for the Hoverboard to fully charge is a lifetime. The kart attachment is key because of the adjustments and 80lb capacity.

So overall... This is a good little powered go kart, but will take sometime to figure out. This is for the kids, sorry adults... 80lb max, and the seat is also pretty small as well, so no... you won't be sneaking in a ride, unless you want to break it. This is a hoverboard, but comes with the optional kart attachment... it's a combo unit. So it can be used as a hoverboard, or as a go-kart. For my nephew, just went with the combo go kart. Not sure if we will ever try it as a hoverboard. It takes some time to do the initial assembly, a couple head scratch moments, but overall not all that challenging to get together the first time. Charges quickly, and you are ready to go. Riding it, try to find a wide open space the first couple times (maybe a closed parking lot), and in general a smooth ground area, to avoid bumps and other shakes. as it is for smaller kids, and they could lose some confidence when it takes a while. The 5ish MPH, is quick for them, but for us adults... it seems okay almost slow compared to other similar powered rides out there. So no concerns there. He had a great time, looking forward to riding it again... and again. Oh... and as a general reminder... please promote safe riding. There is a chance of falling off. Helmet is highly recommended for littles.

Fun but stopped working after 30 minutes

My son loves this Hoverboard GoKart combo. It was a little difficult to put together as it was missing some parts (specifically some hex nuts) to assemble to GoKart part of it. However, it seemed to go together well enough while I requested replacement parts. However, after following all instructions and charging it until fully charged, it worked great for about 30 minutes then all of a sudden one pedal stopped responding and it started beeping, indicating an error. We tried all troubleshooting steps and got nowhere. However, I give the GoKart Hoverboard combo 4 starts because of the responsiveness of support. Within a day, I was offered a replacement and I'm currently waiting for that to arrive. I chalk it up to probably a bad battery, it happens. So hoping the new one arrives soon and works well. Overall, it worked great until it didn't, so I'm hopeful the battery was just bad. Looking forward to my son getting some extended use soon, and the design to attach the hover board to the Go Kart is intuitive and clever. It's also easy to remove (velcro straps) and use the hoverboard as standalone item.

This kit came as a combo with both Hover-1's kid focused hoverboard and includes a hoverboard and the go kart attachment. This product appears to be well made for a quasi outdoor vehicle, and durable enough to last through a number of hard uses by kids. This particular scooter is speed limited to 5mph and 80lbs. I find this to be quite limiting and my son at age 7 is already probably too big for this scooter, or finds that it doesn't quite have enough power to do what he wants to do with it. I found the go cart attachment to also be a little on the small side, and less durable feeling than the hoverboard itself. The two pieces attach with velcro straps that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Researching their website reveals that other models are slightly larger, have larger ratings, and are faster/more powerful. After the face I would have preferred that this was a fully powered model that I was able to limit the speed on, instead of being under powered and becoming outgrown so quickly. This product does was it's intended, and the inclusion of the go cart attachment makes this product friendly for smaller children who's balance might be in question for using it in the "hoverboard" way. The slot for the size children that this is intended for is quite narrow however.

Cute and Fun Ride for my 7-year-old

I like this set because it combines a kids’ hoverboard with a frame, so that the hoverboard can be used separately or when attached to the frame, as a go-kart. As I am a bit wary of having my son ride any hoverboard yet, we have only tried it strictly in go-kart mode—with him using a properly fitted helmet, of course. The frame/go-kart part was easy to assemble (according to my husband), and once we charged up the hoverboard we were good to go. The frame is adjustable, so it can accommodate a range of kids’ heights. There is a bit of a learning curve, though, when actually steering and using it; it seems simple enough on paper but it’s a different story when actually doing it and trying to coordinate and remember the directions (at least for a kid)—there are handlebars on either side of the seat which you push down to go forward, pull up to brake or reverse, and you push the right handle down while leaving the left one alone to turn right, and vice versa to turn left. It just took a little time to get used to it and have it all go smoothly. The battery seems to last a while—we used it quite a bit and we haven’t had to recharge it yet. We’ve been trying it out in our little cul-de-sac but not for longer distances (i.e. we haven’t been going down streets and going farther away from our neighborhood). All-in-all, my son says it’s a lot of fun and he’s enjoying it.

    Great Item for the Kids!

I got this item for my nieces and nephews, mainly right now for my nephew who is 6.5 years old. He absolutely loves this thing! He is not quite coordinated enough to operate a hoverboard yet, but this item comes with the frame for a cart as well! The coolest thing is that this cart is operated by using hand levers. The hoverboard hooks to the back of the frame and by tilting the levers, the board moves forward, propelling the cart. The frame length is adjustable to different lengths, which is great; my nephew is a string bean and quite tall for his age. When the kids are a little older, the hoverboard is detachable, so they can ride it without the cart frame. If the board breaks in some way, the cart can still be used; it will fit hoverboards with 6.5" tires. This item also comes with a charger, so no worrying about buying batteries all the time. The max speed for this item is 5mph with a distance of about 3 miles per full charge. Finally, with a weight limit of about 80 lbs, my niblings can use this item for years to come! This was a fun item to get and use, and I would definitely recommend it.
