Great Chromebook
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this Chromebook for a couple weeks. I've been using windows laptops for about 30 years and getting used to a Chromebook didn't take as much work as I thought. I can see for some of my work it would take more practice to get as productive but most I wouldn't even notice a difference. For school or fun it is a good productive laptop. The physical laptop itself is very nice. It feels solid and the hinges open and close smoothly all the way from closed to tablet mode. The touchscreen is exactly what you'd expect from any electronic you're using these days. The screen is bright, colorful and plenty high resolution. If you're gauging battery life, the built in time estimator actually seems to be a little on the conservative side. I was easily able to stream 5 hrs of movies on a charge and just regular work the battery will easily last through a day. The keyboard is responsive and the sound is very good. It also comes with a number of programmable keyboard shortcuts if you care to learn those, they could be very productive. I didn't try running any games on this machine but I don't think that's it's market anyway. For entertainment and productivity it is plenty fast and should be for a while. This seems to be well laid out and built and Google is always very good about improving things over time so hopefully it only gets better. Overall I was very impressed with this Chromebook and would recommend it to anyone in the market for one.

WORST BUY
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If I could leave zero stars I would. WORST BUY I ever made WORST customer service as well. I'm so disappointed. Warning to anyone thinking of making a purchase PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BEST BUY. You will regret it and wish you had not. I've been disrespected, lied to, disconnected multiple times after waiting on hold for sometimes an hour, they do not allow you to speak to a supervisor, are rude, and if you think that there is anyone to get a hold to make a complaint to. Nope I purchased a laptop for my granddaughter for Christmas with the guarantee she would get it by Christmas. Well I ended up with a very sad little girl had to spend the money again to get her one as I am still waiting for my money back. Worst Buy really put a damper on my holiday they caused unwanted stress, frustration, time , money, and gas. Please don't go thru what I have because there are still plenty of places to make a purchase that will treat you with respect and provide a decent customer service experience. BEST BUY is NOT what it used to be. So sad.

An all-in-one laptop for the active user
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a multitasking machine on the go, HP’s Chromebook Plus is one option that really packs a punch. Boasting impressive performance with the latest ChromeOS ready to go, this feature-rich laptop is a perfect bridge between your work life and your entertainment hub. What stands out immediately with the Chromebook Plus is its solid, compact build that feels ready to take with you wherever you need it to go. It isn’t light in weight, but it doesn’t feel heavy; the laptop has some grip-friendly textures and a rugged base that feels like it could withstand some “off the beaten path” usage. Its simplicity is showcased in its design, with only a headphone jack sitting between a USB-A port and a USB-C port on one side, with the power button, volume +/- buttons, and charging port lining the other. I appreciate the no-nonsense build as its focus is on what’s inside. Opening the clam-shell casing presents you with a beautiful 14” LED display, a bright, multi-touch enabled touchscreen that fully folds back into a tablet-style device. This display is edge-to-edge glass that gives that immersive experience despite its smaller size. While the visuals look great, the sound can be a bit better. Listening to music on the external speaker won’t bring the party to you, though listening via Bluetooth or with wired headphones present a better quality of sound. The keys are softer than I prefer, but they are light, quiet, and spaced economically. The top row has all the usual buttons for settings and customizations, though I found the inclusion of more volume keys to be redundant given the presence of the side buttons. No matter the application you are using, be it Chrome browser, Google Docs, or a gaming app, the transition from laptop mode to tablet mode is quite seamless. In tablet mode, the keys deactivate and the onscreen keyboard is very large, especially in landscape mode. For this, I really like the option to collapse the keys into a mini keyboard, allowing for a very convenient swipe-to-text ability that I feel has come a long way over the years. Finally, I found this laptop was able to handle everything I threw at it: casual web browsing, email and messaging, movies and music, spreadsheets and document organization, online gaming and the occasional digital art app. HP's Chromebook Plus did it all at the same time and without any hiccups or crashes. Based on my experience, I'm confident this device will hold up over the long haul. The HP Chromebook Plus provides a truly mobile experience, allowing you to stay on the go and untethered with over ten hours of battery life and fast-charging capabilities, built-in Google apps, and enough storage for your work or play needs as well as offline access to your Google Drive. This laptop is perfect for the active user who wants a no-frills device that still delivers on the details for an appealing user experience.

Chromebooks have won me over
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HP 2-in-1 Chromebook Plus is my 2nd Chromebook Plus and has been a great addition – my wife recently commandeered my 1st Chromebook Plus so… here I am. Just a few years ago I shied away from Chromebooks; I’m a developer and system administrator by day and for years I just didn’t take Chromebooks very seriously. In the last few years though I have markedly warmed up to them and use them more and more; especially the Chromebook Plus models, like this one, which addressed most of what I considered the primary short-comings of the Chromebook ecosystem. As someone who has grown up on computers and the endless cycle of patching and updates, it was exactly the simplicity of Chromebook maintenance and recovery that began to draw me to them; initially focused on more leisure use and then figuring them out for more serious work. As such, this HP Chromebook Plus has filled the role of being my primary mobile and “couch” computer. The battery life is excellent, the screen is large and quality enough for just about everything I need to do in those scenarios, it’s lightweight, runs cool and quiet, yet it’s small enough to remain very portable without dominating the main pocket of my backpack. Performance is good for running multiple tabs for email, social media, streaming audio/video, and all while keeping a full-time Linux container active which is where I do most of my serious work. This HP 2-in-1 has handled it all with aplomb. If I had to note one caveat it’s that the backlit keys are unusually dim in my experience, compared to other laptops and our other Chromebook Plus; at times I wasn’t even sure they were lit at all even though they were. Unless I’ve missed it there’s no way to adjust to their brightness other than to simply turn them off or on. Not a major issue by any stretch but worth mentioning. 2-in-1 tablet mode has worked well for me though I don’t actually use it much in that mode much. Ultimately it’s a pleasure to use and it’s been a workhorse upgrade and replacement for the Chromebook Plus my wife “took over”.

Chromebooks keep getting better and better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several Chromebooks going back to when they were 1st introduced. Every time I get a new one they keep getting better and better this one is no exception. Pros: Set up is always easy. Turn it on, log into your Google account and everything is there, including Wi-Fi passwords, even from other places you have been. (update did take a little longer than I am used to but it was still only about 5 minutes) Love the illuminated keyboard which is something I have not had on other Chromebooks. Battery life is exceptional as usual on a Chromebook. This is a 2 in 1 so you can also use it as a tablet. Speed is a step up from my older models (8gb vs.4gb). Has a USB-C port on either side. Sound is decent for a small unit. Has Google Gemini AI. Not sure how much I will use it but I did ask it to make me a fictional story about a boy named Timmy and his dog Fred and in about 2 seconds it gave me a cute story about 4 paragraphs in length. I also asked why my wife worries about everything and it did offer me some solutions, which I thought was nice. It now has a search key that is a shortcut to not having to bring up your chrome home screen. Touch screen is very responsive and seems to resist fingerprints but it does have some glare. Display is crystal clear. Cons: There is no SD card port. There is only 1 USB-A port for adding mouse etc. Some glare from screen Overall a great little 2 in 1 Chromebook that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a mid-priced unit.

A big step in the evolution of Chromebooks.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great example of what a Chromebook should be! I have had quite a few Chromebooks over the years, as a teacher I seem to go through them pretty often. Usually, they are minimal as far as specs go and features are limited, I guess by definition! Chromebooks are supposed to be limited, supposed to be "lite" computers for doing only a few tasks. Chromebooks have had a long time now to evolve and become mature. Luckily, that push to fill their niche has led to the understanding that many users need "just a little more" punch to their computers. I have found several machines that have done a good job at doing that, each one getting closer and closer to allowing me to use them for more and more tasks. The HP Chromebook Plus is a good example of that. It has a great deal of CPU power, lots of storage and a great screen. The back-lit keyboard allows use in dimly lit situations and the touch-pad is very responsive. The ability to wrap the screen around and make a tablet out of it adds to the usefulness. All that is lacking is a stylus and it would rival even my faithful Samsung I used up a few years ago. It is good to see the level of quality that HP has wrapped up in this package, and I can see that it is going to be a great tool to use in my classroom. While an i3 would be severely lacking in any Windows laptop, it seems to really run in a Chromebook. I look forward to putting it through more tests and see how it handles a little more of my day to day workload.

Very good; could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's a lot to like in this model. It's a premium Chromebook with a freely moveable (360) screen that you can use as a tablet, powered by a reasonably decent Intel processor. It's only an i3, but that's more than enough for a Chromebook. The display is pretty good, though the colors do look ankit washed out. The device functions pretty well in tablet mode, so there's a whole range of school and work applications that you can use productively with this model. I spent the afternoon reading some Play books on it. The device is well-built; it seems to be a combination of sturdy plastic and some metal, but the overall build promises some durability. The hinge for the screen also seems like it will stand up to some heavy usage. There's a good supply of ports; you get two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, so hooking up peripherals shouldn't be an issue. Zippy performance for a Chromebook, but that's to be expected given how light Chrome OS and the fact that the device is sporting an i3. The onboard speakers are also loud enough and don't lose clarity at higher volumes. No for the not-so-good. While not excessive, this device is a bit heavy. Using it in tablet mode requires some getting used to, and is principally when you'll notice the extra weight. As said before, the display is pretty good, but for a model that costs this much the washed out colors were kind of a disappointment. The keyboard also feels a little cheap. There's nothing wrong with the keyboard, but for the price, you would think this computer would use an sturdier design or tougher keys. The keys have a slightly rubbery feel that makes you think that one of them is going to come off sooner or later. All in all, a pretty good higher-end Chromebook for students, workers, or general users who don't need a full Windows distribution or who prefer to work within Google's ecosystem (e.g. Google Docs, Sheets, etc.). Get this model on sale, and you won't be disappointed. At it's standard retail price, there's some worthwhile competitive from other manufacturers.

Quick setup, versatile, fun to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HP Chromebook laptop is a Chromebook computer with Google AI (artificial intelligence) added on. It’s not the first or only computer out there with AI capabilities. If you don’t want to be tied to the Google environment that working with a Chromebook means in order to get AI capability, you can find Windows-based laptops that also have AI. But if you like Chromebooks and want to also have AI capability, this computer should suit you just fine. Setup is simple as at is with most computers nowadays. Turn it and follow the onscreen instructions to connect to the internet, log into your Google account (you will need one if you don’t have one), etc. Once set up, all of the usual Chromebook features are available. The Chromebook idea is that you work mostly in the web. You use Google programs like Docs for word processing and Sheets for spreadsheets. This makes it easy to collaborate with others in different locations on document creation and so forth. You can also use Microsoft apps like Word and Excel, which are also included on the machine. It is a touch-screen laptop, so you can use the screen as well to do things. I’ve never been a big fan of touchscreens because the screen just fills up with fingerprints, and I find myself constantly cleaning it. But many people like them, so there you go. As far as the AI capability, there is a new button on the keyboard on the left side with a little white circle on it called a “search” button. This activates the AI, you type in a sentence or two of what you’re looking for, and the AI generates a document, answer, finds photos or whatever is appropriate. AI is new, but it seems to be gaining acceptance rapidly. Having AI capability on your computer will likely become more and more standard, and it will be a plus as people realize more and more what AI can do. I have no qualms whatsoever about recommending this computer. It is attractive, comfortable to use, not too big or small, the display is beautiful, and it seems to be future-proof for quite a while. As long as working in the Chromebook/Google world works for you, this computer should work well for you.

An Attractive Alternative Laptop Device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon receiving an HP X360 Chromebook for evaluation and review, I immediately unboxed it, plugged it in to charge it up and it began to update itself. It took almost 2 hours to complete the updates at which point it lit up and now displays all of my Google Chrome bookmarks and applications. Since Google Chrome is widely used on PC's and Apple devices, it is quite easy to get used to on the HP X360 Chromebook and I found myself very comfortable and at home with it! While you can't use Microsoft's complete office software on a Chromebook, you can access Office 365 online and use the Office Progressive Web Applications. Of course, Google has its own office-like applications that can be accessed and used to create documents, spreadsheets and other items. If you are into advanced video and photo editing, a Chromebook is probably not for you. Chromebooks do have basic video and photo editing capabilities which may be enough for many users. The reason for buying a Chromebook is typically the cost of the computer which is in the hundreds, not thousands of dollars. The form factor of the HP 360X Chromebook is just like most other laptops. It can be used to play Android and Linux games and Adobe even has photo and video editing solutions. Chromebooks are also used for streaming services. If offline use and storage is needed, Chromebooks may not a good option as it comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Intel's Core 3 chip powers the HP 360X Chromebook and is very responsive. The HP 360X Chromebook, model 14B-CD0023DX is a very attractive alternative to PC and Apple laptops and is a quite affordable computing solution.

Getting Used To Google Operating System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So our new 2-in-1 touch screen Chromebook is an excellent value for the money. Shipping was very quick. It's light and thin with decent battery life. The touch screen capability is great. Zoom and Facebook video conferencing works very well. Streaming movies are clear and crisp, even fast paced movies and sports. A drawback is the Google Operating System and getting used to it. Thankfully recently I switched to a Google Pixel cell phone and got somewhat baptized in the Google Operating System before getting the Chromebook, certainly different than the Windows Operating System we've been so used to. I have noticed during movies depicting daytime scenes I can't really see the picture well from severe angles or if heavy sunlight is shining on the screen. Set up was easy but waiting for the operating system updates was a bit tedious. And of course like most other lap top / tablet combinations in this price point the audio doesn't go very loud at all so you really have to be right in front of it to properly hear some of the dialogue in movies and when on a Zoom call if the person on the other end is not right in front of their device when speaking. All in all we're very satisfied with this device with the exception of the audio but none the less would recommend it to friends and family looking for a tablet / laptop combo in its price point.

Not as portable as I had hoped
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that the initial setup WAS NOT INTUITIVE. The only way to set it up is via your Google account login. Yes, I have a google account. But the two-factor authentication I've applied to my account prevented me from logging in and setting up the Chromebook. I had to disable two-factor authentication via another device before I could get it set up. But, alas, I finally got it set up. After that, it does as advertised - gets you online and gets you where you need/want to go. The function row of keys is useful and browsing the Play Store has a lot to offer (I'm an Apple user and still prefer the Apple ecosystem). My main issue is the size and weight. I was hoping this would replace packing both my iPad and Macbook for travel by bridging the gap between "tablet" and "laptop" in one, portable device. Nope. Well, lets' be fair. Yes, it does provide tablet-like features when you want them while also giving the option of Macbook/Laptop-like feel for browsing and typing. But I was hoping it would be lighter weight and smaller than my Macbook and it's not. Maybe the slightest bit lighter than my Macbook but not much. In all, it may find a place in my travel kit but time will tell.
