Great Chromebook
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good. Have had no issues as of now. I got this Chromebook in exchange for another Chromebook from a different brand that I returned to best buy. The other brand was randomly rebooting for about 3 weeks usually during my son's zoom classes. So far this one did something similar, but only once and it was during a time it actually updated something. This Chromebook has been working like its supposed to. I got it for my son and he is able to use it fine. It's user friendly and of course I always trust HP....I should have gotten this HP in the first place, lesson learned.

My first HP chromebook and I love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this chromebook! It’s all plastic and really light but feels solid. Not MacBook Air light, but really comfortable. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to break when you pick it up and handle it. The hinge is also pretty sturdy, but the screen does not lay flat. The speakers are only OK. No bass at all but very clear so I’m happy with them. They keyboard is only OK. I prefer a louder more clicky keyboard like on some Acers, but this keyboard will do fine. The touchpad is big and swiping feels good, but it’s weird. It kind of feels and sounds like it’s loose. Like it moves ever so slightly before you actually press it. Not annoying at all, but definitely there. The matte 1080p IPS screen looks great for a $239 machine. I pulled up some pictures on Pixabay and the screen looks pretty good compared to the gorgeous screen on my Zenbook UX461 and my iPad 7. It doesn’t get super bright but I can live with that. Really happy with the screen. I don’t have any experience with Celeron processors, but it feels snappy enough. I experimented with multiple YouTube videos and a TubiTV movie all running at the same time with no issues. There was a tiny bit of lag when switching between these windows, but normal people movie watching doesn’t have any issues at all. I’m getting 17748 on Octane 2.0 and 528 on HTML5Test. The jury is out on battery life, though. I get a sense that 8 to 9 hours will be about average. At $239, I can definitely recommend this chromebook!

For the $219-$239, worth it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having only owned this for a couple days, I think for the price on sale of $219-$239 it's absolutely worth it. Pros: - Display! Even at the regular $289 everyday price, you will NOT find a 1080p, IPS panel looking this good on a device until you hit around maybe $499 before any sale prices kick in. HP rates this at 250 nits, and indoors for those working for home, you will comfortably have it around 70% of that. It does come out of the box at around 1536 x 864, but you can change resolution to be Native 1080p, or max it out at 2194 x 1234. Thin bezels on the left and right side too. Great for watching movies! - Keyboard - Comfortable key spacing and travel to me for typing quite well on it. I will say it's overall positive, but the keycaps do feel a little cheap. Again, typing is very comfortable on it so I think it's something that is good overall. - Performance - Snappy web browsing performance, and even though the site here lists the Intel Celeron N4000 and an HP rep confirms this... my box said it has the newer Intel Celeron N4020, but even with that, it will stop auto updates at June 2026, not 2028 like other N4020 machines. - Battery - Mostly web surfing, watching an episode or two of One Piece, and some clips on YouTube, getting over 8.5 hours and that's with brightness over 80% just because I tend to like it a little brighter. Solid battery life. - Camera - Webcam looks good in the camera app, maybe a little too bright like over exposing, but not a bad look. 720p. I have seen Chromebooks and WIndows devices cost 2-3 times more with much worse webcams, or none at all. For Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc, I think it's a passable look. Cons: - Build. Plastic all over, and it's a kind of cheap feeling one. I don't mean that in a deal breaker way, and funny enough it makes the laptop feel lighter than it looks, but my wrists and forearms on the keyboard deck as I type feel... off? I'm coming from an Acer Spin 713 or other aluminum keyboard decks, and this feels not as well built. On a positive, there is very little to no keyboard flex, so the keyboard deck definitely feels reinforced. Again, not a deal breaker, but upon touching it I can feel this is where they get good performance and a great display for under $300. Note that this laptop is still a Chromebook, so it does NOT run Microsoft Windows. The OS, I mean. Microsoft Office apps it CAN run, but it's the Google Play Store apps or the Office Online version. For personal use, I think most people may be fine switching considering that Google Docs is free and for basic, personal use is fine and cloud connects to our ANdroid phones natively, or can sync to iPhones by downloading those apps form the App Store. For students needing Office, if you're primarily writing APA/MLA format essays, absolute basics in Excel or smaller Powerpoints, those Office apps should be fine to use with your student login or your own 365 license, but it ONLY works with 365. Office Home licenses CANNOT work on ChromeOS. If you're primarily using it for home use (banking, YouTube, social media, online browsing), I see no reason to buy a Windows device in the same price range. Chromebooks are much snappier for these tasks at this price point, and updates are seamless and non-intrusive. If you're needing programs made for Windows, or are an "expert user" of Microsoft Office apps, or need Publisher or Access, stick to Windows, but absolutely get an SSD for better speed, and ideally 8GB RAM and a Core i3/AMD Ryzen 3 for a good experience. Elementary/Middle school kids learning remotely, this device is perfect for. You can use Canvas, Zoom, Office if needed through the Play Store, and for parents you can use Family Link to lock it down or set time limits with a supervised Gmail account that is compatible with Chromebooks. If my niece didn't prefer smaller devices with a touch screen, I would gift this to her and have no issues. For now, my sister has an older 2015 model Chromebook that will get updates until 2021, but at this price and this holiday season, I will probably gift this to her as an upgrade and not have to stress it for at least 5-6 years.

Simple and Sleek
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My PC died, and I considered buying another Windows tabletop. But I decided not to because I have an IPAD Pro that does everything I need it to do for me, except writing. I do all my writing on google docs, so I bought this Chromebook primarily for writing. It serves my purposes perfect. t's a computer without Windows. So it's very simple in operation. I don't need the simplicity, but I do appreciate it. It's just you and Google Chrome. It's the perfect laptop for those who do most of their work online and don't need to download a lot of software. As I indicated, it's great for writers who uses mostly google docs. However, It does come with Microsoft Word. I don't know if you have to pay for it or not, since I don't use it. It's very thin and attractive. The one negative is that it's advertised as 14". I measured it, and it's exactly 12 7/8". Not cool. It should be advertised as 13". Very misleading. That's why I didn't give it five stars. However, I still like it a lot. It's a good workable size for me. Overall, I'm very satisfied. Great price!

Decent Gift Idea
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro’s: lightweight, fast charging, very easy set up (came with instructions and it did not take long to set-up (like 5-10 minutes). You just need a google email address (it’s free to set up)/password & you are logged onto the chromebook), bright screen, fast connection to internet, can download apps from Google Playstore Con’s: camera quality (not the best but I was not expecting anything fancy or top of the line), sound quality (it is decent enough but could be better but you can always connect speakers to it and that can fix that issue), no backlit keyboard or touchscreen (I knew this prior to buying so not a con as in a reason not to buy the product but it would be more beneficial if this (& other affordable chromebooks already came with these features) I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for the very basic usage: streaming movies/tv shows, paying bills, shopping online, learning how to use this device or becoming familiar with technology in general. This is like using a phone (using the same/if not similar systems) but with a keyboard and bigger screen; it doesn’t have all the extra unneeded apps/programs taking up most the internal space (like laptops) and you cannot use Microsoft Office on this device (no worries; you have access to google features similar if not the same as Microsoft but for free: google docs, slides, powerpoint, etc…for free so let that sink in). I believe this would be ok for virtual learning to serve the purpose it is supposed to. I purchased this as a gift for my mom due to the fact she needed an “upgrade” (in this scenario: bigger screen, keyboard & something very basic) from a tablet she had, this fit the budget and current needs and I’m sure she’ll like it once she plays around with it some more so I’d give it a try. If you need or want something to do more heavy duty things such as gaming, editing, burning CD's/DVD's, working from home (depending on what programs & such are used) I’d highly recommend a laptop or Apple product because you’d have more flexibility, quality: specs/graphics/picture/sound quality etc…but if you just need something to get by, past the time without breaking the bank this is good.

Great Chromebook - Tech Savvy Guy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only buy this if it's on sale for 149.99 or less. I would not buy this at any other price, and I recommend that others do the same. Keyboard - 3/5, feels cheap but functions Touchpad - 3/5, feels cheap but functions Display - 5/5, and that is where this Chromebook shines. The IPS panel is beautiful, and there is nothing that even competes with this at a higher price point. Battery - 5/5 easily does 10 hours or more OS - Chrome OS is a great OS when you get used to it. However, I run Linux (GalliumOS) on this Chromebook for better functionality. Overall build - 4/5

Chrome Book 2020
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second chrome book. My first one never had a problem, lasted for over ten years and was so much easier to use compared to other computers. This new one was super easy to set up. And unlike other computers, there are no constant updates and downloads that impede the user's ability to use the computer quickly and efficiently. I would give this computer a HUGE thumbs up!

Best laptop ever bought
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent laptop/Chromebook. Completely exceeded expectation. This is my first Chromebook though my kids have had them for a while. Nice design, looks like a Apple product. Battery lasts forever compared to a HP laptop that I just got. Easy to setup (it's a Chromebook) and use. Black Friday sale made it such a great value. Use as my primary computer b/c of the light weight and long battery life. Best value ever.

||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my son to do schoolwork on, but he does everything with it. The speed is amazing when doing a search or switching between pages or apps. The sound quality is great, and the images on the screen are crystal clear. My son loves his computer, and i have a new favorite brand! The size is perfect, and the Chromebook is lightweight and easy to carry in a backpack.

Perfect budget Chromebook offering from HP
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first chromebook and I checked out good reviews from Slickdeals and BestBuy Forum and the product stands by its great reviews. Unboxing and Setup : It took around 5 mins to get things synced with my Google account and have the updates run through. It offers wonderful integration with Android devices by pulling up optional apps and messages. Build and Features: The build quality is great and surprisingly good for a device in this price range. There is a cushion between display and body and also the bottom of display in case it rests on table. It closes and opens in a sturdy fashion and the cushion between display and frame may make it look like there is a gap but not . I was worried about that seeing some reviews but that is not true as it completely closes. The display is great and by default it comes configured at a resolution lower than 1080P for better visibility of texts and possibly improved battery life and I prefer to leave it like that instead of 1080P mostly unless high resolution pictures / videos are viewed. Sound quality is nice and clear. Overall glad to have it purchased.

Fantastic deal for $150.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up a few days ago for $150. Stellar bargain at that price. Nice 1080p IPS display that you can't usually touch on a Chromebook for less than $250. CPU gets the job done. Passively cooled (no fan) is also a nice feature.

Surprisingly good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surprisingly good! Nice bright screen and reasonably zippy with a few tabs open. It does start to groan pretty quickly with multiple tabs or when running an app. The trackpad and keyboard are reasonably good for the price. The trackpad was loose and mushy in the first one I got, but the replacement is much better.

Awesome Chromebook, Awesome deal!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer rocks for the price, the screen is crystal clear and the speed is great because it is a Chromebook, for those of us who love Chromebooks and the flexibility they provide this laptop is a steal and well worth the money at this price. What makes Chromebooks so great is the Android app store, thousands of apps run on this computer. Chromebooks are not Windows, if you need a Windows specific program you will not be happy with this computer. If however you understand the strengths of Chromebooks you will not be disappointed with this laptop, The full HD Screen is a thing of beauty.

Very good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Chromebook. Replacing an old 14" Acer that I had for 5 years. Battery life is very good and charges very fast. And the thing I like the most is the display. What a difference from my old Acer. Beautiful colors and detail from an IPS screen. Would highly recommend this Chromebook!!

Good for the price point
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for virtual learning. The price point was good for a black Friday sale, but I am not sure I would pay full price for this. I personally am not a Chromebook user, but my nine year old was able to figure this out and set it up with no issues. It is reasonably fast.

Great computer - Different platform
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my 5th grader for virtual school and traditional school. He is also using it for gaming and it is able to keep up with his programs/games etc. He really likes it. The only problem we have has to do with the parental controls app called Family Link (not the computer) - it requires a pass code from me to let him on it, then he signs in with his gmail login, then I have to login with my gmail to "add" his gmail to this computer. We have to do this EVERY time he logs in. It does not "add" him like it says it will. So for now I am just continuing to do that, so I can have the parental controls. The computer itself is great. Its our 2nd chromebook. I like them much better than regular PCs. Download any app from the Google Playstore and off you go. FYI - Norton is not compatible with Chromebook so you will need something else for antivirus/security.
