I needed a small laptop or chromebook for my cryptocurrencies and for $300 you can't beat the hardware that's in this thing. After doing a little bit of research I found out that the laptop is upgradable up to 32 GB of RAM So I bought this laptop with the idea of just upgrading the memory. Overall, You're not going to find a laptop or Chromebook for $300 with this much processing power. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the display is only 720p.

I'm really happy with this laptop. I do a lot of podcast editing and this thing is a trooper. It's fast, durable, and at the of the day it won't break the bank. You can do some gaming on this thing. Nothing crazy but enough for me. You can always upgrade the ram down the line if you want better gaming performance. Don't let the 128GB hard drive scare you away. You can always expand the storage later. For $299.99 it's a steal. Buy it you won't regret it.

Love the computer for the price you will have a hard time beating it. PERFORMANCE: the most important part. This computer isn’t a MacBook Pro but it is actually quite fast I have actually opened stuff up faster than an 8gb ram Intel laptop in my own personal experiments which I tried to conduct accurately. I can say while I have found it to be faster at times I have had it crash on me completely more than once where as I haven’t had that with the Intel. Once you over load it , it is actually extremely quick to give up on everything. Bottom line for me : as school/ project home laptop it is amazing, even for my crypto and stock market ventures. For an actual business/work laptop however I do not recommend. It can and will simply stop working when you push it too hard, this can cost you money, clients, time and face. This laptop could be considered a great entry point in any case, & do yourself a favor and get an external drive to keep it nice and fast. Personally loving the AMD and will be my new go to.

I bought this laptop after I watched a review on YouTube. The video showed how surprisingly powerful this laptop for being a budget device. Let’s go over the good, the bad and the not a deal breaker. The GOOD: Because of the material they used for the body (plastic) the laptop is very light weight. This is great since this is for my son to use for school. There is a built-in HD web cam and internal microphone. The track pad is pretty responsive and the track pad buttons are okay. Start up is pretty fast and with the AMD Athlon CPU, this 14 inch laptop can do a lot. You can stream videos over WiFi in 4K, do some school work, jump on a Zoom session and even play a few games. If are into RETRO games this machine is pretty good at it. If you want to play some Fortnite you can but it won’t be the best experience. I ran Minecraft and it worked pretty well. The Bad: Handling the laptop and typing on the keyboard feels very plastic-y. It does have texture to it but does have a very plastic feel to it. It DOES NOT have the ability to use 2.5 inch hard drive which is surprising. Not A Deal Breaker: Out for the box the laptop doesn’t really have a lot of internal storage and has a pretty small amount of RAM. If you don’t mind, you can add additional RAM (tripling the original amount) and change out the SSD internal drive (doubling amount) for a little over $100. It may not be a big deal but the operating system included is Windows 10 S which is a light weight version of Windows 10. From what I read 10 S sacrifices all around capability for performance. If you would prefer to have a full version of Windows 10 you can upgrade from 10 S for free. Just look up how to do it online. All in all I think this is a great laptop for the price. I recommend a RAM upgrade. It isn’t hard to do and isn’t expensive either. It will add to the performance if you plan on playing some new games.

Picked up this laptop as a secondary machine for when I am in another room in the house and didn’t want to walk upstairs. The machine turns on and boots relatively quickly and when I finally got to the Windows desktop after the initial setup I noticed the screen looked a bit different then the one in the store. Turns out that HP is shipping this model with their 1080p matte display vs the lower resolution one that the web page says! While Windows does work fine off 4gb of ram you may want to swap this out. Luckily after popping off the back of the laptop there are 2 memory slots as only one of them is populated with a Samsung branded 4GB 3200mhz stick. For less then 15 bucks you can find a matching 4GB stick to bring the total amount of ram to 8GB. With that much ram the machine then operates a lot quicker. The computer also uses a m.2 SATA ssd stick for storage (not m.2 NVMe). For less then another 30-40 bucks you can then double or triple the amount of storage if you need to. I had a older 256GB Sata m.2 stick already so just replaced the 128GB it comes with as well (Kingston branded if that matters). Overall if you can get this for under $320 it will blow away the intel options in the same price bracket. The only real downside is the battery life. Since the AMD cpu in this machine is a tad bit less power efficient then the intel equivalent you do lose a difference in about 2-3 hours and battery. Though 6-8 hours isn’t terrible but it could always be better.

Great Laptop for a Senior Citizen

This turned out to be a perfect computer for me, a senior citizen. I needed a small laptop that would allow me to participate in zoom meetings in a gym for hours on end without getting hot. This computer is perfect for participating in zoom meetings--after four hours of exercise classes, this computer remained cool--barely warm to the touch--and there was no fan sound at all. I also wanted this computer to allow me to participate in online college/university educational videos--again for hour after hour without freezing and without getting hot. This machine streamed in those educational videos for two hours and again never got hot. The machine allows me to easily access email and send emails. Of course, it allows me to surf. Being a retired senior citizen, that is all I needed a computer for, and this computer more than delivered what I wanted and needed. And by the way, this computer is super easy to use--another plus for a retired senior.

I've had this laptop for over two years and it has gone through a lot of use. The keys are still completely legible and there are no wear marks where my hands rest. The screen looks just as good as day one. No functional issues and no replacements on any parts. Even the charger is holding up great. Would 100% recommend this computer for everyday use.

Bought this because my last one the fan went out. I was amazed how much faster this was than my older one. Was easy to setup and works great. Not sure about the windows 10 home-s. Why do they make it so if you turn off the -s part you can never get it back. I paid for it, what's the big deal. Maybe I don't want it right now, but I may in the future.

I love that it is lightweight and smaller. It's not tablet size, but its not bulky like other laptops. I bought it for my home based business and it works great. The down side is that when you first start it up and set it up it is set as Windows 10 S and you are unable to install apps that are not Microsoft approved like Chrome, Firefox, Facebook Messenger, and Adobe Acrobat. However, you can find similar apps on the Microsoft store. If you would rather have Win 10 then you can switch to it from either the Microsoft store or your settings. You will lose some of the Windows 10 S features like the extra security protection. You can either upgrade or if you have a family or business version of Microsoft Office 365 then you'll have the full 1TB of one drive space. I plan to upgrade the hard drive in the future to a 1TB.
