This review is for the HP 15.6" Refurbished Model 850 G5 Laptop, 1920 x 1080 FHD, Intel 8th Gen Core I5-835)U with 16GB RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, which Joy Systems refurbished. I was skeptical about purchasing a refurbished laptop. Still, I decided to go out on a limb and try it as this was a money saver, (at the time, about $200 less than a new model), and best of all, it was available for delivery within 3 days. The laptop was shipped and upon receiving the laptop, I started questioning the wisdom of this purchase. The outer box had some big tears on two sides and one down the center, and three corners were crushed. However, on opening the box, the laptop was well protected as there were no tears, rips, or even dents in the inside packaging. On inspection, I saw one ding with sharp edges in the front right lower corner of the laptop which I easily took care of with a file. I'm guessing that was why the laptop was returned as there are no other identifiable issues with this laptop. After ensuring all documents were included, as well as the Joy Systems one-year warranty card, I turned the computer on. I had no problems setting the computer up, installing the software programs I use, and running scans to make sure there were no viruses or issues with the hard drive. So far, I've used it for a couple of games, general e-mail and messaging, and learning to use my Celestron NexStar SE 4" Telescope. I will be using this primarily with the telescope to help locate clusters and planets to view while introducing two grandchildren (11 yrs old and 22 yrs old) to our Solar System and the stars, planets and constellations that we are able to see. Both the laptop and the telescope are portable, and we plan on taking them to Port Aransas, TX, to use on the beach late at night. I've had no issues with the computer, and honestly, unless I drop it, I don’t anticipate having any issues.

Laptop is very well packed. A few scratches and dings on the top but works perfectly. Came with brand new Windows 11 Pro OS. Very fast, easy setup. Best Buy uses a great third party for refurb computers with great customer service.

Bought this has a refurbished unit., so far no issues with it it's been working great for my purposes
