Since I couldn't find any teardowns of this laptop online, I've provided some pictures in this review. YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY UPGRADE THE RAM IN THIS LAPTOP. Do not listen to HP Support, they know nothing. They are just reading from an automated response sheet, they have never even seen this laptop. This laptop comes with 1 stick of Samsung 8GB DDR4 3200 RAM (Model: M471A1G44AB0-CWE) There is an additional SODIMM slot for another stick of RAM, so you can run 2 sticks in dual channel. (Funny enough, the words "One Dimm Only" are printed on the PCB where the second RAM slot is, probably so the assemblers don't put in 2 and give you a free stick). The second slot is fully functional. I even put in a non-matching stick of Crucial RAM and the system recognized it and booted right up. Otherwise, a very standard new laptop. m.2 NvME drive in the lower right, Wifi card in the center left, and even a spot for a standard laptop SATA drive in the lower left (the SATA hookups are missing though, so you'll have to figure that out on your own if you want to add a SATA drive). There are 10 screws total that are holding on the bottom cover. The 6 black screws (circled in red) are under the 2 long rubber feet. The 4 silver screws (circled in blue) are easily accessible. You will then need to use PLASTIC tools to pry and unclip the bottom case. Be careful and gentle, even plastic tools can dent and mar the plastic casing. All in all, a great 17" laptop for web browsing and doing regular office work.

This is an immediate set up review of this laptop that I just picked up today, after intense research of the components and comparison with other devices at similar price point. I am an intermediate computer user with above average knowledge and usage, but no means a hardcore tech geek. This laptop is extremely easy to set up and gets going in no time. Removal of S mode takes seconds, not minutes so you can download Chrome, etc. The display is impressive and enjoyable for watching TV like I do. The processor is lightning fast and the 8G RAM is very responsive with multiple large apps and files going together. I don't play video games or anything that requires 12/16G. At this price $499 special, there is nothing on the market that compares. The 17.3" display is a huge plus that few laptops offer at this price. The AMD 5500u processor feels fast and efficient but I don't know if its better than i5 or i7. I guess its like judging between a 50k Benz or BMW, semantics at that level. It is an above average mid level processor, I think. The fit and finish are clean, sleek and not flimsy. Mousepad is large and works well. Without beating a horse, this laptop is amazing for 98% of public users for business (my use), school, entertainment and possibly gaming. I guess there are better options but north of $700/800+. I highly reccomend this product.

After listening to fake claim in first review i tried upgrading the ram. Bought a compatible ddr4 16 gb 3200 sodimm to add in 2nd slot. Nothing worked. System is not booting and screen is blank. Misleading reviews should be deleted.

Lightweight & fast. Used on a daily basis to run my small business and to do video streaming/editing. Thiings I wish it had: - Lighted keyboard - Ability to easily add additional SSD/NvME/RAM - More USB3 ports

Even though I am still learning the many features, I am very pleased with the Laptop so far. It is easy to use, with good instructions on setting it up and getting started. The big screen is wonderful for everything! The only thing I don’t like is the light colored digits on the silver keyboard. The letters and numbers should have been black for easier reading.

This is an excellent Windows 11 personal laptop at a great price. I love the large 17.3 inch screen, fast AMD processor, and 8GB of RAM is plenty for me. The Presidents Day price made it a great buy. My only complaint is the lack of a status light for the number pad. It can’t be beat at a price around $500 to $525,

This laptop replaced a much older Toshiba laptop. My husband loves the larger screen and he only uses it for casual web browsing and watching sports on an additional screen. It is much faster and lighter than his older laptop and he uses it daily. Good value purchase!

Excellent laptop. Gets the job done. Set up super easy. Very light for the size of the unit and screen. Plug and plays work nicely. Picture clarity, camera, and volume input/output work well for video chat and recording. Battery life as described. Speed and display- keeps up with Hulu/Netflix/Prime just fine. Would recommend if this is in your price range. Chose to purchase the Best Buy Warranty for peace of mind.

Exellent laptop. Purchased in 2022. I still love it and am using it right now! I use this everyday! No issues at all and I don't baby it at all.

I really enjoy this laptop. A huge upgrade to what I had before (2018 HP Notebook). Fast start up, crystal clear display, fast downloading, and etc. I use this laptop for college, gaming, and just overall essential use. I would recommend.

My wife loves her laptop and will not let me touch it! Opted not to get the touch screen because of lower reviews so keep it simple! She uses it for basic computers needs nothing big. Good price!

The HP laptop works great. The screen is large enough to do what I have to do without buying an additional monitor. Batter life is long. I have just owned the machine for maybe two months.

I never was a "Windows" person, but THIS is the best laptop I've ever owned. Outshines my MAC by 100%

Big Screen, its fast and loads up and shut downs just as fast. Battery so far being new lasts 7 to 8 hrs. Bought 2 of them.
