So I took a chance on this laptop, even though I could have gotten a comparable one for around $125 cheaper. So far I would have to say, it is good, almost great. First the Pros. It is a pretty sleek laptop, it doesn't weigh very much and it is thinner than I thought it would be for a 17 inch screen. The keyboard isn't backlit but the keys all work seamlessly as does the touch pad and buttons. The screen is also a little better with a pixel resolution of 1600x900 which is a little higher than other comparable laptops making your picture just a little clearer. Most importantly this laptop is fast, which is what I wanted, and why I was willing to pay a little extra to make sure. This laptop has 8 Gigs of RAM and a 7th Gen Intel Core i7-7500U mobile processor, which is the newest and best of the intel core processors. The processor speed on this laptop is listed as 2.7 Gigahertz, with comparable laptops being around 2.2 ghz. I like to play podcasts in the background while I play internet games, work in Microsoft Word, or pay bills etc. This eats up a lot of memory and with old laptops I was noticing considerable lag. Thus far I have had no lag at all. I have had 4 windows open at one time, two of which were playing video and/or sound and no noticeable lag or interference. The CONS. The biggest con for me is the sound quality. The speakers are actually pretty good, the problem is they are on the bottom of the laptop in a bad spot. The laptop has a small rubber band running along the bottom near the speakers to lift the laptop up just a hair when it is lying flat on a surface. This is ostensibly there to allow the speakers that little bit of room to project the sound without being muffled. It doesn't quite work though. And if you are like me and like to use your laptop in bed, it becomes problematic. If the sheets move and cover the speakers it gets muffled and you have to adjust it. It isn't a huge con as you can buy a nice blue tooth speaker to use with it and have your sound come out of that, but it seems like a silly design flaw. My other big con is the battery life, which is listed as 7.5 hours. This is absurd as I have yet to get more than 4.5 out of it. Granted I am watching videos and such but 7.5 is quite the stretch over 4 /4,5. 4 hours of battery life is good for a laptop, but when they market it as 7.5 I expected a little better. All in all a good laptop, but if money is tight, get a similar Lenovo or Dell for $125 less. But if you can spend the extra money for the slightly bigger screen, and the slightly improved processor speed, go with this HP.

I purchased this laptop for my wife's photography business primarily to edit photos. It loads photos in RAW very quickly.

7th Generation i7 processor 1TB hard drive, 8GB memory at low cost. I would have liked a SSD drive, but also wanted a CD/DVD drive. So far so good. I have noticed the battery power goes down what seems fast to me. I'm never far from an electrical outlet so not a big deal. Overall I'm satisfied.

Love the large 17.3 screen and keyboard layout which includes the numeric keypad. So far, performance has been great. Coming from Windows Vista, Win 10 is definitely faster. 7gen i7 for $500.?? Heck yeah, all day!! Primary reason for a new machine was, I needed at least Win 10 to restore from a backup to my new iPhone7...the latest iTunes is not supported by Vista any longer. I didn't want to break the bank any more than it's broke LoL

Pros: -i7 processor gives it that power that tops all others -Graphics are great for the price point -Simplicity and ease of operation with Windows 10 makes it great for anyone -VERY LARGE for a laptop, perfect for my needs -Very good construction (expected from HP) -Solid feeling keys, no squish here Cons: -The lip that your thumb grabs to open it is a little on the small and thin side so it may be a tiny bit difficult to open one handed, however i dont see this as much as an issue more as a pet-peeve. -Heavy, which is expected from such a large laptop, package weight was around 8 pounds Other Thoughts: - I would definitely recommend this to anyone. - Very pleased with it, shipping was exactly as estimated. - You should not worry when purchasing

I feel this laptop is perfect for me. I is the right size and weight for my use. The amount of memory and storage is just what I need without being overly expensive. The processor is fast enough for all my applications.

You get 17' screen, new generation i7 processor and 8gb RAM for much less you will pay for similar computer. Very good performance. Very satisfied with the purchase

Before purchasing this New Computer, my current Laptop was/is an "HP 2000 ~ CORE i3." BOTTOM LINE= "Slower than my: "APPLE IIe" back in the 1980's.........Anyway, this Laptop was sent from Heaven! Only "7th Gen." I have ever seen that was priced below $650..? It "POWERS ON"....& ....POWERS OFF, like Clockwork (5 Seconds)! OPTIONS I Like Most: Screen Size is Bigger; 7th Gen=FAST; Lighter than my older one; it's an "HP"; Much more!!!!!

Had a Sony VAIO laptop with a tiny screen and a terrible processor speed and it already had a few years of use time and it was on its last legs so I decided to upgrade to a more decent laptop. So far so good. It has a decent sized screen which I like. It runs fast which I like. The battery life is around 3 hrs which could be better. I still would recommend this product to others who are trying to upgrade their older laptops.

I like this computer I bought at Best Buy. HP Notebook. It has the i7 7th Generation. Is fast and turns on and off very fast. Reboots fast as well. Has good storage. Nice screen and picture. Doesn't d/c from internet much at all. I think twice in a few months of having this. And that could have been my modem or router. I am glad I purchased this and I think you will too.

Being a non tech savvy senior citizen, I found the computer to be very easy to set up and so far works great! (The store Geek Squad offered to set it up for me, however I wanted to try myself as a learning experience.) The computer is fast and responsive. So far though. I'm not a fan of Windows 10. I probably just need more time to get used to it. For now, I miss my old friend Windows 7.

Light, quiet and fast. I got so used to my last laptop where the fan was constantly on to keep it cool that this laptop seems so quiet! The i7 processor is awesome as well!

Bought this when my old one died. It weighs less, is faster, and has three working USB drives. I was looking for a laptop that could use my newly purchased long - life battery, but couldn't find that. The power cord/adapter is smaller and lighter, too; this it's good since I travel with it.

This was for my dad to surf and do taxes, write letters etc. I originally wanted one with 12gb of ram, but settled for 8gb and an i7 processor instead of and i5 with 12gb. The computer set up very quickly and came with very little bloat-ware which is nice. I didn't much care about the graphics card as he won't game on it, but it appears as though the intel HD 620 isn't the worst card out there. You can see videos of people playing Fallout 4 with it at probably about Xbox 360ish performance. Dad has had no complaints.

There screen size is perfect and great CPU but the embedded mouse drives me crazy. I guess most if not all will do that. A USB mouse is a must. No Bluetooth mouse capabilities as well.

Fast, powerful, big screen, loads of memory, huge RAM and 1TB hard drive. I expected to pay far more for all these features. Gave it as a gift, and the recipient absolutely loves it.

This computer was easy to operate, light weight, thin, and comfortable to use. It is a great laptop for the price. I love the large size of the internal drive, large screen and ease of use. Highly recommend it for home use.
