Customers find value in the touch screen, ease of use, and long battery life of this 2-in-1 Chromebook. Its lightweight design and strong performance are also frequently praised, along with the ample RAM and competitive price. However, some users mention limited storage capacity and occasional fan noise as drawbacks. A few also reported minor compatibility issues and some instances of the device overheating.

We got this Chromebook due to the fact it was on sale and the extra $100 off for students. I was originally wanting the Asus for my husband but didn't see where BB had the 8 gig version and he wanted 8 gigs of ram and a backlit keyboard. I had been researching for a couple weeks. He really wanted an i5 but this is an I3 and he's pleased with it.
I had an old Samsung CB Plus and decided to sell that and get me one of these also. Hubby never had a CB he had a S3tab. He let me get mine before I even sold my old one cause it was such a good deal and luckily we did cause they sold out. Plus you got free Sony headphone which we sold to cover some of the cost too.
Now on to the CB it's fast I can have several tabs open. The keyboard and trackpad are great. It's fast I love the backlit keyboard. I use it just for fun Facebook and I play this slot machine game on it and surf the web and listen to music. I was told and read in reviews that the brightness could b e better on here and yes it could be but it's good enough for me so far.
Several people were getting the Acer Spin 713 which my husband kind of wished he would of gotten after watching a comparison video on you tube. I think it had the i5 and of course the brightness is a little better. I forgot the HP has a fingerprint sensor so when you leave it on and just close it and it goes to sleep your fingerprint wakes it back up. I love the keyboard and track pad easy to use. It's not real heavy and I like that it is a 2 in 1. Just wish they had the USI Pen in stock this CB takes USI and so far HP is the only one that makes it and I ordered us each one a week or so ago and we we're supposed to of already gotten it and it's backordered I believe.
But if your looking for a decent chromebook at a good price and you find it on sale I would recommend this. The extra $100 off was a bonus. If it's not on sale and it's 629 than I would recommend looking at the Acer one also but we just saw this sale on line and bought and are happy with this one.

I recently looked into getting a Chromebook as a secondary device. I already have my beefy, Core i7 laptop with dedicated graphics that I use for doing graphic design and video editing work.
But, I usually have it parked at my desk and it's so heavy I'd rather not move it anywhere. I also have a Surface Go, which I prefer to keep in my bag and take to and from school as my work PC.
However, I felt like I needed something around the house, to use as a general task-related computer that I can use to access the internet as needed, pay bills, do my general use type stuff. I wanted something that felt nice and substantial, but wasn't too heavy, and would be able to be switched on at a moment's notice and also wouldn't require me to be constantly charging it just to be sure it had some juice.
After about a month of research, I decided on this HP x360 Chromebook. And I have to say, I made the RIGHT choice. This device is fast enough to handle anything I throw at it, the core i3 and 8GB of RAM are actually at the beefier end of the Chromebook spectrum. One time I caught myself having more than 30 tabs open and this thing wasn't skipping a beat. I wish the 64GB of storage was a bit more, but I just stuck in a 128GB SD card and this thing already has more onboard storage than my Surface, but it's OK since I typically use Google Drive or OneDrive anyway for most things.
The screen is nice and has a very pleasant warm tone out of the box (I hate blu-ish displays) with great color pop that doesn't seem overexaggerated like you get from Samsung displays a lot. Reminds me a lot of what you'd see in a Macbook. The keyboard has great key travel that is just stiff enough, and the entire package just feels so nice and pleasant to use.
There are only two things that might be dealbreakers for some people, and I want to mention them just to be sure that people know.
It may be a huge deal for some people is that there is no active stylus included, and I'm pretty sure an active stylus is not even supported because I do not believe this computer has a screen digitizer that supports it. For some people, that MAY be a deal breaker. Me, seeing as I already have my Surface Go and a Galaxy Note, I had no need for another device with a stylus. This unit is a little large in my opinion to use as a notetaking device anyway, but some people may want one to use for art or drawing on this device. The competing Dell 14 inch Chromebook is a bit more expensive but has an included stylus if that is a real need for you. I was not a fan of the build quality of the Samsung Chromebook Plus, so I'd personally avoid that one.
The other thing is that this thing does NOT have an HDMI out port. You can do HDMI out through one of the USB-C ports, however, through some sort of adapter or hub, which you'll have to purchase separately. Now, I already owned one because I purchased one to use with my Surface Go, which has a built in HDMI port, several USB slots and even an ethernet port. As we move forward, I'm sure more and more devices are going to just include USB-C ports and expect people to use hubs to do most of their connectivity, and to be honest I think that approach makes sense as people are starting to want their devices thinner and lighter. These types of "kitchen sink" USB-C hubs can be found easily for purchase online for around $40 or so, just do a little bit of looking around.
If these two things I mentioned are not deal breakers, then by all means, make that purchase. This is about the nicest, most premium feeling Chromebooks I experienced during my time researching these devices. I could not be happier with my purchase and would highly recommend this device to anyone.

The HP Chromebook x360 14 is incredible! It looks excellent, is thin, has excellent battery life and is extremely fast! We were looking for another Chromebook because we have one that's 2 years old, love it, it still has excellent battery life and runs well with essentially no maintenance.
I was hesitant to spend this much on a Chromebook, and we did get it on sale, but wow, it's good! I would probably even buy one at full price now. I actually used AnTuTu HTML5 speed test to benchmark it and it was faster than my 6th gen i7 Windows 10 laptop running Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The Chromebook x360 scored 50k and my Windows laptop scored 42k at best. I was very surprised that a Chromebook could squeeze that much speed out of an i3. And did I mention the battery life is excellent? I don't have numbers but it's very, very good. Probably the 13-14 hours it's rated for unless you have the brightness the whole way up or something.
Anyway, my wife, two daughters and I all love it. We use it for educational sites for the kids like ABC Mouse and Education.com as well as YouTube, Netflix, and Android apps. It runs everything very well! I'm now sold on more premium Chromebooks, even though our old one is still good. This one is just so fast at everything and with a 1080p display you have plenty of screen real estate. My model has 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. I'm not sure if there are other options.
Enjoy!!!

I am using this chromebook in a very harsh environment. It is serving as mechanic shop computer (running repair websites, parts ordering and billing). It has amazing battery life and very low profile. So far, no issues at all. Just doing the job better than any other machine we tried (so far).
Chromebooks are very capable! People are discovering them slowly. They are usually cheap priced and still doing the job very well. You don't to have to worry about viruses, OS issues ... etc..
I bought it on 8/18/2019. Still running strong.

I'm a fan of google products and this Chromebook delivers. Super fast. None of the Windows garbage, that you think you need. This is greatly superior in speed to my desktop computer. There are very few things I'm unable to do.
The large screen and keyboard are really nice. It's super light. The battery life is great too.
Highly recommend if you are cloud based and have access to wifi. Although, you can still access several features without internet.

Laptop boots up super fast. Screen is sharp and is a touch screen that works well with games or presentation. USB-C port and SD Card port is helpful as well. Trackpad is responsive and large. It runs the Play store, so there are tons of software and game options available especially if you are already invested in Google services (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Games) Plus a backlit keyboard.
My complaints:
Battery life is fantastic, but that's because there's a large battery and makes this laptop a little on the heavy side compared to a tablet. The screen might be too dim for some people even on the brightest setting. I found it to be fine, but I prefer dim screens. The fans on this machine come on for the simplest task like opening the Chrome browser or playing the Play store. The fans are definitely audible. There is a tiny glitch when opening the laptop if you don't open it up at full 90 degree angle the keyboard will not function and force you to use the on screen keyboard because it still thinks it's in tablet mode. So you need to close the laptop case and open up the screen again past the 90 degree mark and the keyboard should function.

I had some hesitation going from a laptop running Windows, to a Chromebook, but I believe it was one of the better decisions I could have made after using the Chromebook for around a month. The reason for my purchase was to be able to do email, use web-based apps, do spreadsheets, word and mostly for work. Although there are one or two limitations, they at have some workarounds when it comes to Microsoft Office, I am generally very happy with this machine. The quality of the build seems to much better than the Windows laptops that were in the same price range. The screen is high quality and although I don't use the touch screen options that often, it's nice to have. I also love the fact that you can fold the computer 360 degrees, and make it work as a tablet or use it in a computer laptop format. The keyboard is quality, the build of the machine is also quality and there is nothing chincy about this system.
I also use Android and Google products through my house and linking this computer to the rest of the house took no time, once I logged in everything transferred over and I couldn't be more happy. I had no expectation that this would happen and it did, it's made logging into all the different websites that I use, with different passwords, usernames a cinch.
If you're looking to use this as a gaming computer, is would not be a good selection but if your goal is to have something that is Affordable, fast, using it for internet activities, or app based activities, this is a great low-cost solution.
By the way this has worked for me with work oh, I'm able to do practically everything with the exception of maybe one function or two, but I have been able to you find workarounds and it works great.
Lastly I would say that this is lightweight, but a quality build and I can only compare it in feel and touch 2 the much more expensive Apple laptops that other individuals I know have.
I would recommend this to to anyone who is looking for something like what I've described above.

This is my first Chromebook laptop. first off, the quality of this HP is super awesome and well made, the screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 crisp and has sharp colors. The OS is fast at lighting speed. If you are using mostly office works and surfing the web, this is the perfect choice!. It can be used as a laptop and tablet "thank you for the 360 flip and fold design" Google integration is super fast to upload and sync docs and pictures.

This is my 4th Chromebook and when including my three Chromeboxes it is the 7th Chrome OS device and is easily the most powerful.
Credit HP for the inclusion of the 8th gen core i3 processor with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM.
Running Octane 2.0 http://chromium.github.io/octane/ yields 33,850
Running Speedometer 1.0 https://browserbench.org/Speedometer/ yields 154.3
Running Speedometer 2.0 https://browserbench.org/Speedometer2.0/
yields 92.3
The bottom line is that it not only looks and feels premium, but has great performance to boot.
Not being a tablet person, I prefer using it as a laptop, but it has the option of being fully convertible.
Per chrome://system it does have 2 SO-DIMMs, but I have not opened the HP up to see if they are soldered in and see if they are replaceable to upgrade the RAM.
The DDR4 RAM helps explain the extended battery life.
Cannot see anything close to the $549 price I paid offering better value.

Walking around Bestbuy and checking out all the Windows and Chromebooks, this was the best deal in terms of the specs and performance.
My only negative is the display's brightness is not great, and the color a little underwhelming but it's not a bad display. It's clear and works for this resolution but like I said - just could be brighter (story of my life) and the color is a little muted to me. But it's still a better display than you'll find on most Windows laptops which are more than this one.
Other than that, the keyboard is pretty good and backlit. The laptop is also fairly light. Lighter than a 15.6 incher but you still have enough screen real-estate.
The trackpad is good and smooth. The ability to flip the display around can help with video watching.
The 8GB's of RAM and Core-i3 really makes this a MUCH better deal than the Samsung Chromebook Plus which I had but started crashing in sleep mode so I returned it. It's display was better but it was tiny and underpowered compared to this one.
Samsung needs to make more 8gb/core-m/i3 chromebooks. Web surfing alone can push you over 4gb's these days.
I like the finish and color of the laptop. It has a white top but I like it. In short, if you're familiar with the ChromeOS and work largely in the cloud (with Android apps) you should go for it. Currently the best deal on the market that I can find.

I don't want to sound over enthusiastic like I'm a salesman or something, but this is the best Chromebook. The best part of a Chromebook is that bang for the buck. You can get a quick machine for very cheap. That's why I would recommend this over any of the Google Chromebooks.
Google's Chromebooks can go up to or beyond $1,000. For that price you might as well get a Windows 10 or MacOS laptop. The regular Pixelbook starts at $999 and the Pixelbook Go is $849 for the model comparative to this HP. This HP is frequently discounted to $400 (that's the price I paid).
The keyboard feels great, the trackpad feels great, and it's a 2-1 touchscreen device. However I cannot use it as my primary go-to laptop but that's not the laptops fault. The problem is the inability to do programming on ChromeOS. You "can" do some programming, especially if it's in a browser. But it's much better to just go with Windows or MacOS.
Where this laptop shines is the speed and convenience. You can easily pick it up and bang around on it in no time. You can even install some Google Play Store Android apps AND you can run Linux applications on it. Programming through Linux is an option but I'd still rather use Windows or MacOS. But for quick touchscreen/2-1 browsing, this thing is great.

This laptop is an absolute stellar piece of technology!
I really can't find much to say that's negative about the machine, it functions as I need it and I can game on it with various platforms that exist to do so these days. The battery, screen, keyboard...I really appreciate all the thought that went into this device. The price is perfect as well, especially when you get it at the right time.
I read a lot of reviews prior to purchasing this, they all had valuable input, but to use the thing is another thing entirely, it just functions perfectly for my needs. It's absolutely the perfect device for media consumption, productivity, and has enough power in it to last for a very long time.
I haven't purchased anything HP for over a decade and I'm quite pleased with how Google and HP understand that a computer these days should not come with bloat, you'll find very little on this thing.
If you thought of buying something expensive, save your money and just buy this, you'll appreciate it more because of the physical keyboard it has and the simple fact that it is wonderful to type on, you can't go wrong with this device.

This is my first laptop.
Being a lifetime Apple computer guy, it took me some time to get used to the "app" look and the fact it has no hard drive but it is coming along. I find it is similar to using a VERY large phone or Kindle tablet.
If you're used to a PC or Mac, it will take a bit of a learning curve but with some work and research, you can find ways to get around the limitations or learn to work another way.
The battery lasts a long time. I used it once in the last 2 weeks and it still had a significant charge (on sleep mode). It shows me 11 hours of battery power at full charge.
The keyboard backlight is helpful and the touch screen is great to use. I tend to go back and forth from typing, using the touchpad and the touch screen to make my work go quickly and efficiently.
It is light! A bi-product of having no hard drive.
I wish it had a disc burner but I still have my desktop computer to handle that.
I did my research and this is a very good Chromebook. It took a bit of a wait to find the right sale price but I'm happy I waited.

I’ve owned this chromebook for about 6 months. I got it on a pre-black Friday sale.
Overall it’s a very good device. The build quality is excellent; it feels sturdy in my hands. It’s a little heavy (relatively speaking) because of the material it’s made of (ceramic and aluminum).
The performance is very good. The screen is bright and clear, the backlit keyboard is great, the processor is fast, touchscreen is very responsive and battery life is excellent! Apps download quickly. Enabling Linux allows me to use open source software like Libre Office as a Microsoft Office alternative.
This was my first venture into a personal chromebook (we’ve purchased them for the kids) and I’m pleased. This device is capable of doing the vast majority of what I used a PC for.
The only issue I’ve had is the rubber “feet” coming off. I wish the rubber strips were wider and glued down better. I used super glue, however, the residue from it takes away from the grippiness (yes folks, I made up a word!) of the rubber.
Overall, I’m satisfied and would recommend this product

So, I was hesitant to get these but then given the price, and it coming with 8GB RAM I figured this would be a good buy. After looking around, this seemed to be in the sweet spot for price, RAM and CPU, though with only 64GB storage (but it is a Chromebook, so most documents would be cloud based). So I purchased it and set about setting it up.
Setup was quick and easy, sort of like my iPad or any Apple device. I signed in with my gmail, answered a few questions, then added my kids. Given the fact it had a touch screen, could function as a laptop and then could be converted to a stand and used like a tablet, AND even in portrait mode, it was then I realised what a truly killer device this was. Other than it running ChromeOS and being based on the GooglePlay store for apps, I can find no real flaws after a few weeks of use. The performance thus far is stellar and I like the fact that it is easy to restore it if it ever gets corrupted, slowed down or somehow compromised. The parental controls are great too, but need a lot of tweaking to get it right as the levels are either too permissive or too restrictive but there are workarounds.

I have been using this Chromebook for several days and the experience has been great!
I bought this product at $399, with a big discount at 499 and I used my student deal to get another $100 discount and got a pair of Sony headphones, which was absolutely a steal!
I am typing this review on the Chromebook and the keyboard is really good. The travel is my taste and it is pretty quiet to type on. The trackpad is made of glass and is very smooth to use. I am a Mac user and if the Mac trackpad is 100, then this trackpad can get 85. If Chrome OS can fine-tune the finger gesture, then the score can get better.
The screen on this device is good. Before buying it, I was concerned about the brightness of the screen. But it turns out to be not a big problem.
The chassis is solid and sturdy. Really feels premium. The device is not the thinnest, nor is the lightest. It is 3.6 lb and feels pretty heavy when holding in hand. If you are sensitive to weight, maybe you should choose other devices. But the weight is acceptable for me.
The Chromebook has 10th Gen i3 CPU and 8 GB RAM. You should not have any issues when doing the typical Chromebook tasks, like browsing the web, writing some documents, or streaming some Netflix. The fan kicks in shortly when opening multiple tabs and will be quiet again when the device is ready and stable. The fan noise is not loud, but you can still hear it in quiet rooms. The 64 GB storage is another factor that I thought about for a long time before making the decision. I would say I have no issues using it and copying documents is pretty fast, even for an eMMC. There is a micro-SD slot and you can expand yourself.
The webcam on this device is not good. You will see a lot of salt-pepper noise on the screen and the camera setting page on chrome os is really plain.
The speaker is good, though. The volume is enough for movie watching, and there is some base and mid.
I would recommend this device to students and this will be a good choice to go back to school.

This is the best Chromebook we've owned (we've had 4 now). The backlit keyboard is so nice. The touch screen, the convertibility to tablet, the graphics, the speed, even the look with the white on gold. The 8gb of RAM and the fast eMMC flash make this super zippy and robust enough to handle all the computing we've thrown at it thus far. The only downside I've seen so far are the speakers. They are a little quiet and the "face up" from the keyboard. So, when you have it in Tablet mode the speakers "face down" and muffle the sound even more. But, this is easily resolved with headphones. It is hands down the nicest best Chromebook I was able to get for the money. Very pleased.

Was looking at Chromebooks in the $200-$300 range and a secondary / travel device when this little gem went on sale from $599 to $399, so I went for it based on a few things combined you cannot find at this price - 2 in 1, back-lit keyboard, quality screen and audio, and i3 processor.
I've used it daily - even in place of my company laptop (thanks to MS Office 360 and cloud storage) - runs fast and smooth.
The only negative is you can hear the fan noise periodically when using - but i didn't realize b/c I usually have headphones on.
I'm still giving it a "5-Star" b/c at this price with what you're getting it's almost a joke - but thank you BB and HP - we'll take it!
