An average monitor at an average price

    Posted .

This monitor from HP is a mid-grade monitor. The price point for its size is comparable to others in its size and feature class. Assembly was very easy with a snap together stand, no tools required, and like most LED monitors this one is very light and easy to handle. Nothing like the large 50lb CRT monitors of the past! The picture quality for this class of monitor seems to be pretty good. It's nothing like my edge-lit LED Samsung 23" full HD, but during high motion scenes in a movie it was not blurry and the picture was clear. Text seemed to be rendered well and the 1600x900 resolution, while not a full HD 1920x1080, still gives enough room and a high enough pixel density that most tasks will work fine on it. For business and home casual use this monitor would be more than adequate; however there are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. I found the viewing angle to be very narrow for a modern LED lit LCD, moving more than about 20 degrees off of center would result on a very large change in the picture with the edges becoming very bright and the image getting that weird "inverted" look that LCD monitors get when you are outside of their optimum viewing angle. If you have more than one person wanting to view this monitor at a time this may be an issue. Also, I found the color temperature to not be even across the entire image. The bottom of the screen is cooler with a pure white, while the top is warmer and whites appear to be more ivory. If you are trying to use this monitor for serious photo or video editing this will be a major concern. Finally, only including an analog VGA cable is ridiculous and really shows that this monitor is targeted at the general consumer/office market and not a serious user. Including a DVI cable would have been of marginal cost and it meant that for my review I had to use a laptop instead of a my desktop which only has dual DVI and an HDMI output, no analog VGA. There is also no HDMI input, just a VGA and a DVI. Overall this monitor is fine for its price point and intended market, just keep in mind that there are a few drawbacks for more serious users who will probably want to look elsewhere.

I bought this monitor to replace a monitor that no longer worked. The color and clarity is excellent...still using it. I tried to find a smaller one but this 20 inch HP, was the smallest monitor I could find. It's very easy to use. Just press the power button and you're all set.

My other HP monitor went out, so this was a quick replacement with what I could afford. It was replacing a 23" monitor, but after a few days, the smaller screen didn't affect me. If I were watching movies on it, I would miss my previous one more, but for the price I am very happy with this one.

Good for the price, but there are minor issues.

This monitor was purchased to replace a monitor that would not power on. I was looking for a budget monitor at a low price, and chose this one that was available in store. The monitor is a good budget monitor if you are willing to accept some limitations. This monitor was designed to view directly form the front with a narrow field of view. You will have to adjust the tilt until the screen directly faces you to get the best image on screen. I also wish that it sat up higher, but that is a minor issue since it has a great tilt range build in. The colors and easy setup were appreciated, as well as the quick response time of the display. I know I show a lot of negatives, but this is not a bad display. Especially at its price point. I picked mine up in store, and actually saw one in operation, so I knew what I was getting when I purchased mine so that tells you it is not a terrible display since I chose this model over a slightly more expensive model that had a wider view distance for thirty dollars more. I also just noticed that it on clearance and it is a really nice price.

    Great Colors But Driver Issues

    |
    Posted .

I replaced my older flat Monitor with this one and I immediately noticed how much lighter this Monitor weighed and how much more space on my desk I saved compared to my older flat Monitor. Pros: Digital and Analog Outputs, Automatic Out switching, light weight and thin, Colors look great regardless of using Analog or DigitalOutputs Cons: Hard to find good driver for Windows 8 and 8.1 Computer had trouble with screen flickering only during boot when using both Outputs. If you unplug the Digital Output during boot, this will get rid of the problem. Overall. For a great price this Monitor does the job of great looking colors and a sleek design

    So far, so good

This monitor has been doing well for us. No complaints yet, so that's a mark in it's favor. I use it for online gaming and haven't had any issues, other than forgetting the power button is underneath the power indicator light. After my first attempt to push the light to shut it off, I remember where the power button is and it works fine.

Very good monitor for its price

This monitor has very nice image quality for its price. About the only downside is that it does not "remember" whether or not it was turned on when AC power is interrupted, e. g. via a power strip that powers multiple systems. Even if I turned off the monitor using its power button prior to turning off the power strip, the monitor will come on unintentionally when the power strip is turned back on (although it does go into standby if the connected computer stays off).

    inexpensive but great

I was amazed when I bought this as I picked up the box and it felt like there was nothing inside. This monitor is lighter than the LCD monitor that it replaced and the images and color are much better. I was a little disappointed that the options didn't feature a choice to adjust the colors based on text, video, gaming, etc. like the previous HP LCD monitor, but I was able to adjust it by trial and error to get the desired appearance. I also was unable to find an output jack for headphones on the monitor which is troublesome as I have to now hook the headphones up at the back of the tower. The price of the monitor and the superior quality of images and color is well worth a few minor problems.

    My laptop monitor failing

    |
    Posted .

My laptop screen developed gray lines and bars across the bottom third of the screen; making accurate readability very difficult, if not impossible. A quick online trip to Best Buy and I found this HP Monitor on sale for under $90.00.......not being at all sure whether or not a secondary monitor would help or simply inherit the same problem, I took a chance and grabbed one up. Set up was a breeze; I didn't even need to feed my puter the disc but I would advise anyone else to take the time to set up the monitor to your liking before going too far. You'll be much happier if your not making adjustments on the fly.

Great price for 20" monitor if you don't need HDMI

    |
    Posted .

Wonderful price ($90) and good quality 20 inch monitor. I like that it doesn't have a bulky transformer on the power cord. It uses a standard power cord that plugs directly into the back of the monitor. It has DVI and VGA ports which is fine for most applications. However if you need an HDMI port it does not have one. Usually computer monitors have either a DVI or an HDMI port. Haven't seen one with both yet. I guess one digital port is enough (in addition to the analog VGA port). The monitor has been working great for the past six weeks. I recommend this monitor.

Just what I needed when I needed it the most

    |
    Posted .

I needed a new monitor and I needed it as soon as I could get it. I started doing digital illustration and the old monitor I had was flickering and only 15 inches around; not easy to work with Photoshop if you can't see what you are doing. This monitor allows me to see all that I need to see. Movies are crisp, and big compared to what I used before. I can split my screen and still function. Now I have the whole HP collection with the exception of my routers. Very happy, no issues, and wife happy too.

    Great monitor for everyday use

    |

This monitor works great for watching videos as it's big enough to see from a bit of a distance, if need be, but not so big that it overtakes the space on the desk top. It has a clear, crisp picture and the colors are bright. It would be nice if this monitor had speakers but I knew it did not when I purchased it and this wasn't an issue as I mainly use headphones when I need audio. Just would be nice if it did. I have this HP monitor hooked up to a fellow HP desktop tower but I'm sure it works with other non-HP desktop models. Definitely would recommend this product.

    A very competent performer

Others have commented that the image onscreen washes out unless the viewer is sitting squarely in front of the monitor. I was aware of that before I ordered, and I guessed right that this characteristic wouldn't be a hindrance for me. However, those who have to view the monitor from an angle...for example, people who need to move around their workspace ...should take this into account. Resolution and small print legibility are otherwise good, and consistent throughout the field of view. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I am pleased with this monitor, it shows clear print and graphic images. The 20 inch screen is adequate for viewing side by side pages, and larger excel worksheets. A quality monitor that performs well.

20" wide flat screen flat panel LED HP monitor

I needed to replace my OLD Dell monitor. It had serviced two new computer updates. So when It needed to be replaced I wasn't looking for something with a large price tag. But, something with a bigger screen and small price tag. Will I have had HP printers from the beginning. In fact this printer is my third one. So I said why not look at an HP monitor. I found this one at my local Best Buy store. In fact, I found it on my own and check out with out any help from anyone. Came home and set it up with out any problems. I just love this big 20" screen. My son-in-law said "Get a bigger screen while you are shopping around".. It took about a week to get use to the larger screen. Now I just love it. Thanks for the great product. I pray it last as long as my old Dell did.

I bought this primarily to be able to work from home on my laptop. I have a macbook pro and wanted something clow cost but still functional to tide me over until i could upgrade to the apple desktop. This was perfect, i didnt need HD or super big screens, i just needed this to be able to connect 2 monitors to my laptop. I don't game or deal with any graphics but i know these monitors are definately not for that kind of work. I would say someone who works from home or goes to school and is really not into HD the these are the monitors for you. I bought them on sale for about $80 each. I am very satisfied with them for what i need them to do.

    Good monitor for the price

I really like this monitor as it's an upgrade from an old smaller monitor. It has good resolution but it's not the best. I understand that for the price I shouldn't complain. I haven't really haven't used this to its potential, therefore I am only commenting on using it to surf the web and paper writing. If you are budget conscious, as I am, then I definitely recommend this for you. You cannot go wrong with HP.

    Excellent Monitor

This is a great monitor. I bought these when they were on sale for $89. I bought four of these and use them as dual monitors on our office computers. The monitors don't have an HDMI connector and only come with a VGA cable and power cord. Other than that, they are great. I do want to note that out of the 4, 1 had to be returned a week after I purchased it. One morning I came in and it had horizontal lines across the bottom half of the screen (even unhooked from the computer and in the monitors menu). The exchange went smoothly and I haven't had any issues since.
