I purchased this monitor after reading all of the great reviews but unfortunately my first purchase came out to be defective. There was a green line in the center when I turned on the monitor. I exchanged it with another one. I opened the package and set it up with my fingers crossed, but this time my purchase didn’t disappointment me. Monitor is actually very easy to set up and have an awesome sleek style. The best thing is that the cords are coming out from the back not from below. Colors are beautiful and have different settings for example brightness, contrast etc. The screen tilts but doesn’t go up and down, since height is perfect for my eye level so I don’t find any issue here. Overall I’m more than pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend this product.

I bought this monitor when it was on sale for $100. It was completely worth the price and especially the drive from where I live. You can change the graphics depending on what you're using the monitor for and it's like a centimeter thin, it's amazing! 5 stars from me

Added a second screen to my home office so I didn't need to work off my laptop screen. Used one HDMI output and one VGA output and they fit together perfectly.

    Affordable, Effective, Thin HD Display

The HP 23es monitor is an affordable and clear display. I knew it was thin but when I first saw it after taking it out of the box I was still surprised at just how thin and light it is. At this size and price point it isn't unexpected or even a negative, but it's worth mentioning that this is not a 4K display, it's "just" regular HD @ 1920x1080. In practical use though I found 1920x1080 to be very usable. And even though it's "only" 23 inches, for regular-range computing I found that large enough, and was often large enough to keep two fully-functional application windows open side-by-side. It also only has two inputs -- 1 venerable VGA and 1 HDMI. I do a lot of work doing tech support, and restoring old-ish computers for non-profit organizations, and having the VGA input is nice considering how long VGA was the standard video connector. Many may not use it anymore, but I for one am glad to have it as an option. I marked down one star because mine had a slight flicker in the top-right corner. I don't know if that's normal for the model but I can only review what I received. Most of the time I couldn't even see it -- it only became evident when I was displaying something dark in that corner, and then there was a minor but noticeable persistent flicker in just that top-right corner. For watching movies while on my PC it was large enough to be immersive without having to sit too far back. Finally, I'm not sure how useful it is, but I found it interesting that when you bring up the information screen with the on-monitor buttons (below the bottom-right edge) there is an "hour" count that lets you know how many hours the display has been on.

I am reviewing this monitor as a Best Buy TechNet member. I have a lot of monitors, this is the best 1080p I have seen. The colors are vibrant, the display is bright and non reflective. Video looks awesome. I do a fair amount of photo editing and the color reproduction is spot on. The high contrast ratio (10,000,000:1) makes everything pop. The monitor has a 7ms response time and max resolution of 1980x 1024. Setup with windows 10 is automatic, I used the included HDMI cable, the monitor also has a VGA input. Manual adjustments can be made with the buttons on the right underside of the bottom bezel. This monitor looks fantastic in silver, it's thin profile gives it an ultramodern sleek look. The monitor would be at home with a PC or a MAC. This monitor is great for all computing and all but very high resolution gaming. If you are a gamer and want to do 4K gaming look else ware, for everyone else I highly recommend this monitor.

Pros Bright and Crisp Attractive design front and back with almost no bezels. Sleek Stand Good color accuracy for the price Light and thin. Doesn’t take up much space on a desk Affordable for a good IPS panel Cons No height adjustability Stand doesn’t rotate Has a lot of glare (See Photo) Only has HDMI and VGA. No DVI or DisplayPort Thin stand means allows monitor to wobble easily from vibration Proprietary power adapter Proprietary means no desk stands or wall mounts For the many years, I have been changing computers and upgrading while sticking with my tried and true old 17” square LCD. It did the job but more and more seeing newer, more sleek monitors that had larger screens in smaller cases made me want more. My old monitor was dim and just made work hard on the eyes. I saw this HP monitor and my first thought was honestly, “HP makes monitors?” I was curious because the monitor looked very sleek so I gave it a shot. It isn’t feature laden with a fancy stand, lots of ports, and spot on color accuracy. Instead of using a bright low glare screen, they use a cheaper bright screen that has high glare. All things considered, what they offer is a just enough ports to get the job done, a tilt stand, color accuracy for all but the most demanding users, speed for even experienced gamers, enough brightness for most conditions, and an IPS panel all for a price you typically pay for poor monitors in this size. I am a person who typically tries to save money but always gets disappointed by some glaring flaw of more affordable products. This is probably the first time in a long time I have found myself content with a more budget device. Of course, I would like a higher end monitor but unlike other times, I feel content with a “lower end” unit. Surprisingly, for a monitor in this class it includes color calibration profiles out of the box. I adjusted the monitor myself as I felt the default monitor settings left things a bit too washed out but overall I feel HP hit just the right checkboxes to make this a great value. As you can see from my pros and cons this is not a perfect monitor but knowing how much more monitors can cost at this size, the cons are very easy to overlook. Unless there is some big feature listed in the cons you just must have, for most people this monitor will make you very happy you spent the money.

What a great monitor, at a great price, and with function and style. Was looking for a monitor to add to my laptop to make it easier for work at home. Didn't have a lot of space and was looking at 19-21". Did not really care about gaming or the TV/HD/resolution wars or (at first), just wanted something for document word work. Lots of measuring and on-line comparing. Finally, decided to swing by a store to get a better visualization of how the actual dimensions occupied space (stand, depth, tilt). This monitor was sitting next to a 21" of almost the same overall dimensions, but seemed to have such a bigger picture. Guess what - it does. The display area is 23" but it has the footprint of most 21", and even some 19". I had "filtered" it out because it was a 23". It is also attractive in a home setting, with a black casing on top and sides of less than 1/8" and the bottom an attractive brushed silver of 3/4". The stand is unobtrusive and attractively designed. Only quibble there would be it is not a universal mount if I wanted to fasten it onto a multi-screen stand in a 2-3 screen display set-up - but I bought this for the home, remember. So much for the esthetics which I usually don't care about. The monitor itself is a very good monitor. Using the VGA output from my 'puter it works great. Does all sorts of auto-adjust stuff and was absolutely plug and play - the only adjustment I needed to make was to actually reduce the brightness. Glare free. The whites are really white, the blacks black. Also, has an HDMI input, and you can switch from VGA to HDMI from the front panel, or put it in auto select. Wait, why would I care about that? Hmm, so I now have this monitor that has an HDMI input... So, I think... my cable box has an HDMI output, doesn't it? Guess what - the monitor that I bought only just for work on with my lap-top is now also used for watching cable television. Hadn't really had the TV on since Sandy, but the political silly season has arrived. The monitor has no speakers, but that is easily remedied by using the audio output from the cable box to the aux inputs on my audio system. A little tinkering with the cable box resolution outputs (set it for 720p) and everything handshakes very nicely. Great definition and color balances. Also a great price. If this is still available and on sale run, do not walk, and buy it. Heck, buy two. Even if it isn't on sale, buy it.

This monitor is a great addition to my PC. It only displays in 1080, so it is not a 4K monitor, but the visual fidelity is astounding. I enjoy watching movies from Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime video services in 1080P. I also like that the screen size is not too obtrusive around my desk area, which is limited. When opening games, I have a beautiful image through and through. I even had a clear image when streaming games from my Xbox One, but that may be more related to my internet speed. Assembling the monitor was a breeze. No tools were required to connect the stand to the monitor, and I had it up and working in less than 5 minutes. Another thing that I enjoy about the monitor is that it doesn't hurt my eyes in low lighting. When I turn off my computer, the monitor goes automatically into standby mode which is important because I have it in my bedroom. It does have an HDMI port, which is what most modern computers come with as a standard connection now-a-days, so that was helpful. I really enjoy using this monitor.

I recently replaced my old (2008) HP computer and 19" screen with this 23" monitor along with the HP ENVY computer. As a photographer, I look for picture quality when I look at monitors, and this screen had the sharpness and good contrast I like along with a non-glare surface, although I am not a fan of edge-lit LED TV's, but this is a bit better than most, but don't expect deep blacks because you won't find them here. Overall I'd rate this screen / monitor as a great buy at the sale price of $120.00, to me it looked much better than the other screens anywhere near and well above it price point, I seem to prefer HP screens over the others almost every time I compare, I wonder...

Was looking for a larger, IPS monitor to replace an older 20" Dell. Can't say for sure that the HP 23es was superior to the other comparable monitors in it's price range, but the picture quality looked fine for my non-critical requirements with good color and brightness, deep blacks and reasonably sharp text. When it came down to making a final choice, I went with aesthetics as the 23es nicely matches my Mac mini. Set up from opening the box to operation took only a few minutes. The stand (stable, but not height adjustable) snapped into the impressively thin and lightweight monitor without tools and the supplied HDMI cable directly connected to the Mac mini. It's also nice that the inline power supply connects to a standard AC cord that doesn't block additional power strip outlets as was mentioned in reviews of a comparable monitor from another manufacturer. No drivers (for the Mac) or major picture adjustments were required and it's working just fine for photo editing, viewing videos, etc.

This is a fantastic monitor. It requires no tools to put together which is a nice feature and the monitor is incredibly thin (see picture). It has a VGA port just in case, and HDMI. It only has one HDMI, but this is strictly a business or work monitor so I don't see the need for multiple HDMI inputs (IMHO). To that end, it's simple to use, there's only three ports: power, VGA and HDMI and it's bright and vivid. I've had great experiences with HP monitors and I recommend them.

From the very start the monitor was exceptional. For a middle of line monitor the color and clarity are good! Makes a great second monitor that works well for my work. Width allows for spread sheets to be fully visible.

This is an awesome IPS monitor matched up with an HP Slim 410 desktop and it is my first IPS monitor. Even though this monitor was just newly released with only 1 review, I decided on this monitor because many past HP monitors were getting awesome reviews. The picture quality looks great with VGA or HDMI but HDMI definitely looks more crisp. The picture quality is really amazing as it is bright and crisp. Whites are white and the black are nicely black. Great price, very slim, 10,000,000 dynamic contrast ratio, 1920x1080 resolution, 23 inch antiglare widescreen! I know some people complain about the response times of IPS monitors vs LED monitors but the fast moving scenes with 7 ms response time looks very nice to me. Before I bought it, I thought the monitor may be too large but it is the perfect size especially because the bezel is very small. From the online picture, I also thought the stand looked like plastic and would be a little weak but it is actually metal and very sturdy especially because the monitor weighs so light. I am a big fan of HP because from my experience, their products are very well made and last very long.

This monitor is FANTASTIC!!! The screen size is perfect for my office needs, and the picture color and clarity are amazing. The picture quality and focus are very sharp and clear, and the colors are better than on my HP laptop. In addition, my larger multi-column spreadsheets fit in their entirety on this monitor, whereas they would not fit on my 17-in laptop screen. I would definitely recommend this monitor.
