Excellent size for WFH, had to adjust the screen settings so it appears clear because it is kinda blurry compared to other brands.

The HP 527SH is a stylish screen that will suit your everyday needs. It is geared more toward productivity / Work From Home people and not so much gaming/content consumption. In the box is the quick start up paperwork, power brick and AC cord, HDMI cable, screen, arm and base. Setup is very easy as the design is 100% toolless and the arm slides into place and secured with an attached thumbscrew. Base connects to the arm and has 2 thumbscrews to fasten it together. One thing to note, because of the thinness of the screen design, the monitor is NOT VESA mountable in case you prefer that method. Once assembled, the HP offers a wide range of tilt and height adjustment to suit your needs but does not offer any degree of swivel at all. Inputs include a VGA (why?) and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports. DP isn't needed in my opinion as the screen only offers a max resolution of 1080p @ 100hz. I am using the monitor on a triple monitor setup for my WFH and it performs flawlessly. I love the bezeless look and how small of a footprint it has. Color accuracy was good out of the box and I had no eye strain with 8 hour workdays. 300 nits of brightness is more than enough to illuminate the IPS panel and give great viewing angles. You can use the monitor for gaming but I wouldn't suggest fast paced games as the 5ms GtG response time produces minor ghosting for me. 1 thing to watch out for, is that when I plugged in the monitor, Windows set it up automatically but set the refresh rate to 60hz. Make sure to go into the settings and manually select 100hz to get the most out of the HP (see pic). Truthfully, the monitor should have a price point roughly $50 cheaper (if on sale then go for it) than it's MSRP. Because of the price to performance with a LOT of 27" FHD competition out there and no swivel, it gets a solid 4 stars.

    Sharp Looking and Viewing Monitor

HP 27” IPS LED 100Hz Monitor Not only is this a sharp good-looking monitor it’s easy on the eyes due to it’s high refresh rate and Low Blue Light display. This is a 27” screen which appears large at first compared to my old 24”, but it doesn’t take long to enjoy the extra space while opening multiple windows. I’ve been using this monitor for about 4 days both on my laptop as well as on my desktop. With the ability to have 2 HDMI inputs as well as a VGA input you will have some choices. Unfortunately, there is no Display Port input. Don’t make that a deal breaker as you can find adaptors to make one of the HDMI’s into a Display Port. Matter of fact I have an older Desktop that uses DVI and I use an adaptor to convert that to HDMI and it works just great on this monitor. I really like the stand on this monitor. It has a reasonable sized base, but a very stable and solid design. The small amount of silver gives the monitor a very sharp and rich design. I am extremely happy with the very thin border on 3 sides as well as a very thin screen front to back. It is literally only ¼” thick for most of the back except at the bottom quarter where the cables connect and the electronics are hidden. Some may find the jacks to which your cables connect into the back either easy to use, or appear cluttered because you can see your connections from the back. I found it convenient as no one sees the back of my monitor. Another feature is a tilt on the stand (top to bottom) as well as a height adjust with a travel of 4” top to bottom that works smoothly and quietly. The picture (Color) out of the box in “Neutral” works very well for me. You will have 7 options to choose from including “custom”. I might also add that the on-screen menu controls work pretty well navigating the choices for selecting your options. The controls are simply 4 buttons on the bottom right of the screen. When you push any of the buttons the on-screen menu appears with pop up icons just above to help you pick the correct button for each option. I found it simple yet effective and not frustrating like some menus can be. The screen can be very bright if you want, but the “Neutral” setting is just about right making text easy to read but not so bright it tires your eyes. This monitor has a 100 Hz refresh rate which is not the highest attainable, but very good for casual gaming and detailed work. That’s coupled with Low Blue Light technology which should decrease you eye strain and maybe not keep you awake after you do turn in to bed. Conclusion: I think this is a really nice monitor with some good features. The adjustable height and tilt stand is very convenient. I like the on-screen controls, as well the convenience of the connections which are easy to get to right on the back of the monitor (not hidden or plug in from the bottom up). With 2 HDMI and a VGA input, you should have plenty of input choices even if you still need to use a Display Port Adaptor. The picture is sharp and bright, and it doesn’t hurt my eyes. Overall, I think this is a very good monitor at a good price point. I would recommend this monitor for someone seeking a larger screen than the standard 24”.

I have a 27 inch HP 4K wireless monitor that I love and have been using for about 5 years now. The 3840 x 2160 resolution display is fantastic, with super sharp and crisp text. But it must be getting outdated because when I purchased a new computer, I lost sound whenever the computer went to sleep. The only fix was to set the PC to “never sleep”. The monitor wouldn’t connect wirelessly and the HDMI connection quit working. Fortunately, it has a display port and I’ve been able to continue using it with a display port connection. But it was time to start looking for a replacement. The Series 5 527sh monitor is also 27 inches diagonal. It was easy to assemble when laid flat on a table so that the stand could overhang during assembly. All the stand attachments have hooks or grooves for support so that the monitor is supported by something other than just the screws. It adjusts up and down from 2 inches to almost 6 inches off the desktop. There is a slight tilt adjustment. Connecting it to the PC was super easy. After attaching the HDMI cable and turning the PC on, it recognized the new monitor right away. The Series 5 monitor does not have sound, which I’m told is the current trend. It did come with an HDMI cable. The Series 5 monitor has 2 HDMI and a VGA port. There is no display port. I thought VGA was becoming obsolete, but in my case, having it is a plus. I have a 10+ year old HP Pavilion with 2 media drives that I use to copy CDs, but it only connects to a monitor via VGA. It will be interesting to see if old VGA works with new VGA. I don’t have any complaints about the color or refresh rate. Videos played well and the color was fine. Initially the mouse was lagging, but there is a monitor menu option to increase the response time. The menu is very easy to use. Much better than the earlier versions. I found the text to be somewhat fuzzy and blurry compared to 4K. The sharpness can be adjusted in the menu, but text at the highest level of sharpness is hard to read because some letters are dark and some are light. I found that document text looked best at level 6, but at that level downloaded pictures disintegrated. I had to go back to level 4 to get a reasonable image. I can read the small print on the digital newspaper with 3840 x 2160 resolution, but the text breaks up on the 1080p HP Series 5 monitor. I tried to do some troubleshooting to improve text quality, but the HP website indicated in the paperwork that came with the monitor was useless. It couldn’t find the serial number and the only monitor troubleshooting help was for “monitor with black screen”. I accidently found a manual that was usable by searching for a similar product at Best Buy. In one of the answered questions there was a link to a user manual for a similar product. It said to do factory reset to correct blurry and fuzzy text. I did, and the quality improved considerably. The text is larger than I’m used to. I tried to change the font size in settings, but there is no option to go smaller - just larger. At first, I thought it was my imagination, but when I installed the old and new monitors side by side, I found that while the width of the display is identical, I’m losing a full 2 inches of content at the bottom of the new screen. The viewing height on the Series 5 monitor is comparable to what I see on a screen that is only 12 inches high. The text is larger so as to fill the additional 2 inches of height. I don’t know if that’s atypical or just a difference between HD and 4K. I’ve been spoiled by using a 4K monitor for so long. While it's not fair to compare this one to 4K, it is hard to go back to 1920 x 1080 resolution. And I do miss having sound. Monitor sound is never the best, but it’s less messy than having to connect speakers or a sound bar. Having this monitor has made me realize that in the future, any monitor I purchase must have 3840 x 2160 resolution and it must have sound. But the HP Series 5 monitor does live up to the HP reputation and is easy to assemble, easy to adjust, looks very nice and performs as it should. The only odd thing is the text size, which might just be due to the resolution difference.

The monitor developed horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen after only two months. The return period expired so I have to deal with a warranty replacement with HP. It is a nightmare. They were supposed to send me a box so I can send the monitor back to them and only then will they send me a new monitor. I am still waiting for them to send me the box.

I’ve been using the HP 27" IPS LED FHD 100Hz Monitor for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly impressed. The picture quality is sharp and vibrant—colors look true-to-life, and the IPS panel means I get great viewing angles whether I’m working at my desk or watching videos from across the room. The 100Hz refresh rate is a nice upgrade from my old monitor—scrolling feels buttery smooth, and casual gaming is a lot more enjoyable. Adjustable height is a game changer for my setup. I can finally line up the screen right at eye level, which has made long workdays much more comfortable. The build quality feels solid, and the silver and black design looks sleek without being flashy. Setup was a breeze—plugged in via HDMI and it worked right out of the box. There’s also a VGA port, which is a nice bonus if you’re connecting older devices. Overall, if you’re looking for a reliable, good-looking monitor for work, streaming, or light gaming, this HP model is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!
