Customers appreciate the large screen size, high resolution, and ease of use of the 27q 27" LED QHD Monitor. Many also praise the monitor's quality and fast response time, making it suitable for gaming. However, some users note limitations in viewing angles and the adjustability of the stand. A small number of customers reported issues with dead pixels or the lack of built-in speakers.

PROS:
- Gorgeous display, aside from the actual display
- Easy Setup
- Intuitive on Screen Controls
CONS:
- Horrible viewing angles (a couple of inches left or right and the colors will shift)
- No gamma control
- Preset Factory modes are good, but way too bright (if they had the option to start with one of these modes and then tweak the settings, that would be great)
- Actual screen reminds you late 90s displays
- Washed out colors
In my opinion, the 1440p resolution isn't worth the $300 price point. It's a TN panel. You'd be better off going with a IPS 1080p panel for $200 or less. If your eye is good enough to appreciate the improved resolution of 1440p, then it will be good enough to notice the horrible screen quality of this particular TN panel.
I bought two of these for my office. I work with AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Word software. I spent several hours tweaking the display with the on screen controls and the NVIDIA Control Panel. I could not find a solution that didn't hurt my eyes, especially with Word and File Explorer.
The only caveat I will mention is that, when I told my co-workers I would be returning them, none of them understood why.
Long story short, if you have a picky eye, then you probably won't like these monitors. If you don't have a picky eye, then why not just buy a cheaper 1080p IPS display?

Bought this when I started working from home during the pandemic. I’ve had this monitor for over a year and it remains in great condition. Great quality and price. I love that multiple display settings and input modes are offered. I am both a paralegal and a musician, and this monitor has helped me achieve optimal functionality.

I was looking for a monitor better than the 1080p I have at home, but don't have a gaming machine powerful enough to justify a 4k monitor, so I went with this as a compromise.
The image looks great, video looks great, no real complaints.
There's a small like 1/2 inch black border on the left and right side of the screen; it could be intended or i might have a setting off.

Perfect size and resolution for me. I bought 4; 2 for me and 2 for my daughter who is learning to code. Don't go below QHD. FHD's are just to rough for my eyes. UHD's are too expensive.

Wow, Very Bright Monitor! I found the Cinema screen setting to be the best color scheme and brightness for my taste and for the 6 choices available. The 2ms response is great. I watched a BluRay movie with no lag time and great color imaging. I also use this monitor for music production and mixing arrangements quite comfortably. The matte screen does have some screen fade when viewing at an angle, I still would prefer a glass screen for truer color and clarity. I leave the source to auto for automatic selection of HDMI, DVI or Display Port. Currently using HDMI. It also worked well with source selection when having the 3 connections populated. You can Swivel the screen forward and back with ease, has just the right amount of tension when moving. The five adjustment buttons are clearly identified on the right lower front bottom of the panel. The frame is black with the bottom portion being the Pike Silver color. The near edgeless screen provides for plenty of real estate for the viewing area. I did have to increase the internet screen zoom to 200 to occupy the full screen potential. This screen is connected to an HP Envy Desktop and once set up, the Pc recognized and auto configured the monitor which made it effortless. HP products continue to be my Go To for reliable performance. I would pick this monitor again in a heartbeat.

Very Nice Monitor

I've had a HP 27er monitor for more than two years, it's been awsome I do software development and when I travel by car I take this with as a second monitor. I just added another 27" UHD monitor to my desktop setup, and found that I needed to zoom in 150-175%, so I'm really using it more like a QHD anyhow; so I paid more to get a higher resolution I'm not really using it.
That's where the HP 27q comes, it's 2560x1440 (vs 3860x2160 - but you can't use the full resolution un-zoomed as the font is way to small (for me to read comfortable; windows includes zooming to solve this problem, but not all apps support it uniformly). I can use the 27q at full resolution and still read it clearly. So for me a full UHD seems like over kill, especially when compared to the native sharpness of the 27q. It's a bit brighter than my HP 27er, it has more control settings, including blue light reducer (w/4 settings) which is a step up. The screen also offers some tilt control and is more anti-glare. I brought it to get more screen real-estate for a reasonable price. It has 3 inputs (DVI, HDMI & Display port).
I tried HDMI and Display port and could not tell them apart (which is good). HP has 2 versions of the 27q; if your an avid gamer you might want to spend 10% more and get the freesync version (AMD grapics card), otherwise the non-freesync version does a very decent job with it's 2ms display timing (that what it said on the box but not in the BB specs [5ms]).
The viewing angles are excellent, the back of the monitor does have a VESA mounting adapter, the screen can't weigth more than 6lbs on it's own, it's very narrow monitor make is ideal to pair with a nother monitor to it right or left.
All and all I'm very impressed, by the clean output, display speed and overall resolution, I did not know that a non-IPS monitor had this quality of output - I'm happy

It's a TFT monitor, so whites look like a grayish-white ... and blacks look like a grayish-black. But oddly enough, it's still pleasing and easy on the eyes for most things. Don't expect sharp contrast if that is a sticking point for you. 2k resolution looks good. 27" is the perfect break-over point for that resolution (1080p at 27" and above looks clunky and looses it's crispness). It's nice to have the extra real-estate for everything from Web browsing to arranging your gaming HUD.
I bought it for ~ one-fiddy ... and at that price point, I feel like I got a decent deal for the compromises I made on the specs.
3 things prevent a 5 star rating:
1) it says it comes with a display cable ... but it does not. Only 1 HDMI cable.
2) the unit feels light like it's made from cheaper materials ... so the longevity of the unit seems questionable.
3) the rather washed out colors due to the lack of sharp contrast (but again, a great picture aside from that ... and oddly appealing to me for most circumstances).
I wouldn't pay the 3 large "normal price" for this monitor at all. There are better options at that price point. But 50% off of that price is a good deal for this stop gap 2K monitor if you are upgrading from a smaller 1080p monitor on a budget and muddy brightness doesn't bother you.

Vibrant colors, fast response, plays 2k like champ. It has low blue light setting which is handy for a office desktop. Picture display is crisp with enough brightness. This monitor is bright but is customizable. Wide Viewing angle not recommended.

I love this monitor I use it for my gaming computer, it has a great response time and I love how vivid the colors look on this screen. The main reason why I purchased was the design I believe it looks great and In my opinion there isn’t another monitor that looks better than this one. It is a TN panel and I prefer IPS but it is what it is I don’t mind at all. I just wish it was more than 60Hz for the cost it deserve at least 75 for the least.

I purchased a pair of these monitors about 9 months ago for my new three screen drafting station. I used a 43” 4K television monitor as my main screen and used the 27” monitors on each side, one for the various menus required for speedy drafting and the other for viewing necessary documents, etc. I wanted really sharp text and images and I knew that standard HD wasn’t going to be enough and 4K was too much. I also needed the monitors to sit back away from me so that I would have plenty of desk space for the large sets of plans I use from time to time. Anyway, I have been extremely satisfied with the quality of these monitors. They are sturdy and attractive. The image quality is outstanding and the controls are very easy to use, though I doubt anyone would need to use them as the monitor looks great with standard settings. The reason I’ve purchased a third monitor is because lightning recently destroyed my 43” 4K monitor and I decided an identical third 27” HP monitor in the center as my main screen would be not only aesthetically pleasing, but more than sufficient for my drafting needs. I was interrupted by my daughter calling me and asking me if I had any extra monitors laying around because she’s going to a two screen system for greater efficiency. I took her my new monitor and she loves it. Now I have to order myself another one. I hope they’re still on sale!

Inside the package was a very heavy duty power cord, which is nice for a typical desk position. My articulated spring powered mount doesn't particularly like heavy cords so you may want to pick up something a bit more flexible or less heavy if you have a similar setup. A plastic stand that I haven't used, so I cannot comment on it's quality of build or features such as angle adjustment. The monitor itself is of high quality typical of HP products. The top and sides have nice protection, even if it is a very thin bezel. There is about a quarter to a third of an inch of black space from the inner edge of the bezel to the screen on these parts. It presents a nice, but not razor-sharp precision to the view. The bottom bezel is about an inch, and has much less black space before the screen with the typical HP circle logo. ( I would have preferred one matching my new Spectre with the bars ) I've owned it less than two weeks and I only have one stuck pixel that can be gently massaged to function normally. It has an enormous amount of screen space, so don't expect it to look amazing if all you do is browse the useless web like facebook and other sites. If you watch movies, game, or stream a lot you WILL very much appreciate the QHD resolution and relatively low price for the quality. The VESA mounts fit perfectly with my setup, and was very easy to do. There are plenty of picture adjustments, but not as many as some very high end pieces. It also has built in blue light reduction for the night owl.
The LED backlight isn't as correct as my favourite monitor, my original HD Dell 21". That monster is gorgeous, but too heavy for my articulated mount. However, this one feels well protected from normal accidents like occurs in a typical office. I would have preferred less dead space from side and top bezels, but it still looks and feels of the quality I expect from HP.

Good Monitor, but not sure of reliability

Good picture quality at the full QHD resolution. At 1080p, text is grainy, probably due to the 27" size of the monitor. At its full QHD resolution, it is sharp and crisp. Off axis colors does vary, but it is not a IPS monitor. Sleek, thin design, VESA mount. It is a monitor I want to love, but so far I question its reliability. The first monitor developed a solid vertical yellow line running top to bottom after only 3 weeks use. Took it back to Best Buy. Best Buy was very accommodating and exchanged the unit for a new one. 2 weeks later the second monitor developed a stuck pixel in the mid-lower center section of the screen. I have serious doubts on the long term reliability of this monitor design. I have used Samsung monitors in the past without any problems. This is the first for me going to an HP monitor and so far I am not impressed on their reliability to work without fault for more than a few weeks out of the box.

I got this as a secondary monitor to use with my 27" Aorus FI27Q, which is a g-sync gaming monitor.
This HP model complements it nicely, and has good color and picture quality. I like the settings buttons, they're easy to use.
I have it on a monitor arm, but the base was solid and easy to install. It was stable.
This monitor does not have HDR, and its refresh rate is 60hz. It's ideal for productivity, or as a second screen for a gamer who wants to monitor Twitch, or run other apps, etc.
It's also a competitively priced entry into the 1440p scene, so if you're a gamer on a budget it's a good start - but be advised 60hz means you'll never get more than 60fps.

I bought this monitor on sale for $190. I would not recommend it at a higher price point.
The main issue with this monitor is that it is a TN panel vs the better technology IPS display (which is very confusing because HP has another "27q" display that IS an IPS display - see below for a more detailed explanation*). I bought it to replace my older 24" monitor which was an IPS display. As such, I immediately noticed the difference in quality. Text seemed blurry, the color was off, and the viewing angles were blah. I ended up buying a different IPS monitor instead.
Instead of returning this monitor, I started using it as a monitor for gaming and it works (in my opinion) very nicely. Now I'm not a professional or competitive gamer (although I like to win!) so I'm sure people like that would laugh at this display for high-end gaming, but in using this monitor with images that are constantly moving, I do not notice any of the issues that I did while trying to use it for work and general use. I also tend to use it in 1920x1080 mode while gaming and I don't notice a significant drop in sharpness or overall display quality.
*HP has two different "27q" monitor models. This one is the "HP 27q" and there is an "HP Pavilion 27q" model. The Pavilion model is an IPS display. As already mentioned, this particular model without the Pavilion name is, in fact, a TN display. Yes, this is very confusing. Look for the "Pavilion" label and also the other display has a different stand look (like an open "oval" shape instead of a solid rectangle).

This is a fantastic monitor for the money. I picked it up on sale so it was an even better deal. It's only 60Hz so you may see some ghosting of fast motion but it's not bad. I am very happy with it so far and it's perfect for medium duty gaming and everything else that I throw at it. I also have the incredibly thin HP 27es as well and I was disappointed with that monitor needing a power brick due to it being so thin, but no so with the 27q, it just has a regular power cord, and a thick on at that.
