    Good Entry-Level 1440p Gaming Monitor

I’m liking the X32 monitor so far. It’s not perfect, but for the price (especially what it’s been on sale for lately) it’s a good 1440p monitor for anyone looking to game on a bigger screen. Unboxing the monitor is pretty straightforward. The stand and cables come out first and the base assembles to the neck via a thumbscrew. You get a power cable and no brick to contend with, which is nice for cabler management. You also get a DisplayPort cable in the box, but no HDMI. The box actually has a little cutout that lets you attach the monitor to the stand before you take it out, which is neat. The stand gives you height adjustment and swivel. There is a graphic on the box that shows you are able to orient the display vertically, but I was not able to accomplish that and I think it’s just a mistake with HP’s packaging. Ultimately I ended up putting this on my existing monitor arm anyway, but the stand is not bad. The monitor has a nice basic look to it. The bezels around the display are pretty thin on the top and sides, though it’s got a bit of a chin on the bottom that isn’t too attractive to me. I connected to my PC via DisplayPort and the refresh rate was automatically set to 165Hz. The monitor is not listed as G-SYNC compatible, but I have been able to enable and use it without any issues. I had a hard time choosing a color profile; the differences between them seemed pretty subtle but ultimately I settled on ‘Native’ as that one seemed to look the best to my eye. One thing I noticed while doing all of this was that navigating the monitors menus is a big chore with the way HP has it setup. There are 5 buttons on the back that are supposed to line up with the onscreen displays to help you navigate the menus. The problem is one of them is the power button and one of them is a source switch, so it’s really easy to accidentally change the source or turn the monitor off in the course of trying to navigate the menus. The buttons don’t seem to have any tactile feel to help you differentiate them either. I found out that the HP Omen Gaming Hub app can control the monitor settings and though that app is saddled with its own garbage it’s a much easier way to get everything where you want it and you can uninstall it when you’re done with it. 1440p on a 31.5” screen is pushing the limits of sharpness and I do notice the difference from the 27” 4K monitor I was using before, but that is coupling both a decrease in screen resolution and an increase in screen size, so I’m not surprised I’m noticing it. Still, images and text look pretty sharp to me and if you are coming from something like a 27” 1080p display the pixel density will be similar. The colors look very good in SDR. The monitor does technically support HDR, but it’s only HDR400 and it’s an 8-bit panel. HDR content does still look pretty good, but the effect is subtle and the way Windows handles HDR means you have to manually turn it off and on for games you want to use it on or else you get a worse experience with SDR content. I’ve mostly gamed on 60Hz displays in the past and playing something like Halo Infinite at 120+ FPS has been a fantastic experience. Response times seem very good and I have not noticed any ghosting in my usage. I’m also enjoying the experience of having a larger screen in general. Overall I’m happy with this display and though it doesn’t have all the features of higher end models it’s a good budget choice for anyone looking for a bigger screen to game on.

This monitor is big: 32in diagonal, right in front of you. Display: The resolution is QHD (Quad-HD), or 2560 x 1440. It's not 4K, but this can be good: Less pixels till, so the graphics card doesn't have to work as hard. Having it next to my studio laptop which is 4K, and it looks great. At this size, windows can be set to display scaling at 100%, it doesn't need to get into High density display so things just work here, with a much higher resolution, which is also great for work as it will fit a lot more content. The display is HDR at 400 nits, so HDR videos also look very crisp. The screen is matte, which I prefer over glossy coating because it does not produce glare. This is for work and play, not just watching videos. Also note that has a blue light filter. The screen is edge to edge with no visible bezel. Just a tiny strip when on, so it takes less space and can be set side by side. Refresh rate: This monitor can go up to 165 Hz refresh rate (AMD FreeSync Premium). I'm using a laptop with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 and it automatically sets to 165 Hz refresh. Response time can be set down to 1ms (In overdrive mode). Design and mount: The design is very minimal, with a tiny 'chin' on the bottom and no visible edges on the other sides. There are no buttons on the front. All the buttons are on the back (right side). I would've preferred buttons on the front or bottom, but there is normally no need to use the built-in menu. Assembling the arm and attaching it to the monitor requires no tools, and the base can be removed with a button on the stem of the base. Removing the base there are four VESA screws in 100mm x 100mm configuration. So there should be no problem using an arm for the monitor. The base allows for adjusting up and down and no tilt. There is no rotation. The arm itself feels solid with a metal core. Connectors: The only connectors are power mains DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0 and Audio Line out. The power supply is built in, so it does not need an external power brick. It has no speakers, only a simple stereo line out. Also has no USB-C nor any other convenience ports. The monitor comes with the power cord and a full-size DisplayPort cable (And nothing else). Packaging: Small amount of plastic to cover the screen and other pieces, otherwise it's all cardboard, very sturdy. Got my monitor shipped and arrived in great condition. There is no Styrofoam in the box. Software: I used two different Windows 10 and Windows 11 laptops and on both the same happened: Windows will automatically install, from the Microsoft Store, the HP Omen software without asking. I found this really odd, that it doesn't ask for the install. The software lets you manage all HP gaming hardware, like this monitor it has more or less the same settings that can be set up though the OSD: Color modes (When not in HDR), refresh rate modes, bars on the screen to help one adjust the orientation of two monitors together, and a simple crosshair image. There is also a setting to have the monitor continually display the refresh rate on one corner. Overall I really like this monitor for its excellent, very responsive display. Great size and resolution, HDR with fast refresh rates. Only nits is that it doesn't have the convenience of USB-C ports or built-in speakers like other work monitors, but as for gaming and work monitors, this is a great choice.

This HP X32 monitor is a fantastic monitor for gaming purposes and more. The large display on this monitor checks out at 31.5" of screen size, along with a neck that allows for tilting the screen, and sliding up and down to your viewing preference. The QHD monitor supports 165 Hz refresh rate, which is ideal for gaming in my household with Xbox Game Pass. I also have been loving the crisp clarity of the 2560 x 1440 QHD, producing sharp details of 3.7 million pixels. This monitor is also Eyesafe Certified so your eyes will thank you as the monitor helps to protect your eyes from harmful blue light. Response time is fantastic on this monitor and allows for very fast paced gaming. The 165 Hz refresh rate truly is noticeable for gaming purposes in various FPS games, and driving games that I enjoy. Motion blur is reduced and you get a very smooth video experience. The AMD FreeSync Premium technology shines here as it helps to reduce the stuttering visual effects when gaming. And for the gaming monitor, you also get 1 millisecond response time with Overdrive. The panel on this HP X32 gets fairly bright at 400 nits. There is simply 1 HDMI input, and also 1 DisplayPort input on the back of the monitor. Included in the box you will find the monitor, stand, DisplayPort cable, and power supply cable. The assembly of this monitor is quite simple and I had it put together in a matter of minutes, so shout out to HP for the great job on packaging and assembly. This X32 gaming monitor has been a welcome addition to my home office. I can use this for gaming purposes as intended, but also a great monitor for work from home purposes. The 31.5" screen is pretty massive and allows me to multitask with multiple windows for email and spreadsheets, for example. Another way I have been enjoying this X32 monitor is with video streaming. The screen size is massive and feels like a small TV to get all my entertainment such as gaming and video streaming. PRO: Large screen size QHD clarity 165Hz refresh rate Eyesafe Certified Display Adjustable neck/stand

Both my son and I play some gaming on the computer (he more so than I) using an MSI Aegis. We needed a good monitor to accompany us in order to give the best gaming experience possible. We definitely found it in this HP monitor. This screen size is enormous at 31.5” IPS screen, it dominates the desk. I normally am playing the HALO Master Chief Collection and Star Trek Online while my son plays TF2, Roblox and python coding. After a week of playing we were so happy to write this review. This monitor provides 165 Hz refresh relate on a 2560X1440 QHD screen. We didn’t experience any stuttering or blurring when playing. It was a very smooth and responsive game play, way better than our other monitor. We also enjoyed seeing the high accurate colors, really do see that 99% RGB when playing and watching. It is also very bright screen at 400nits. I was afraid at a screen this large, how it would affect our eyes when playing close to the screen. Thankfully, this has an Eyesafe Certified display tat emits low blue light without distorting any of the vibrant colors on the games we play, Also due to the size, we wondered how it would angle around the desk and it can be adjusted to the right height and tilt. In the box it comes with the monitor cable and power cable. At 31.5 inches, this is really huge and weighs under 17 lbs. This is definitely the best monitor we have used and it has been a joy to play on.

This HP 32 inch beast is a lot of monitor in front of you. I come from a triple 27" setup and put this in the middle to replace one. It took me a couple of hours to get used to the size difference, but it really grew on me. QHD is my personal preference while gaming and HP did not disappoint me. Everything you need to get started and set up is on the box. Once opened, you're greeted with the power cable, DP cable, stand (2 pieces) and paperwork. Stand is sturdy and easily assembles with the toolless screw on the bottom and snaps on with ease to the back of the screen. It does have height and tilt adjustments, but no swivel. Also if you plan on mounting it, it is 100x100 VESA compatible. Performance met all my expectations. 165hz and 1ms and I did not see any tearing or artifacting. Everything was buttery smooth. Note that it is listed as FreeSync but I got G-Sync compatibility (using a 3090) to work just fine. Also I did not have to mess with any settings as color was surprising well done (your milage will vary). While the monitor is HDR, its only 400 so there is that. I used this monitor not only for my PC via DP, but also my Series X via HDMI. Consoles work perfectly as well and Xbox supports the 1440p resolution @ 120 while my PS5 still does not. HP did a job well done for this and if 32" is your jam with QHD, then do not overlook the X32.

    Noticeable IPS glow

[ Pros ] - Good color and brightness. Decent contrast. Matte finish reduces glare. - Good response times for an entry-level gaming monitor. - The stand has adjustable height and tilt (pitch) which seems uncommon for entry-level monitors. - Comes with a Display Port cable which supports the native QHD resolution at the highest refresh rate (165hz). - Some nice On Screen Display options, like FPS indicator with adjustable location, multiple crosshair options which can be selected in any combination to taste, and color options for both. Unfortunately, these have a fixed, non-adjustable size which is quite large in both cases. Various functions can be assigned to the input buttons for convenient access. [ Cons ] - Significant IPS glow. I found the glow to be very noticeable when viewing dark content in a moderately lit room. I’ve attached a picture of the monitor displaying a pure black input while in an unlit room. Though this is subject to variation between units, even of the same model. - Has separate input buttons which are much less convenient to use than a joystick control. The center placement on the right side of the screen adds to the hassle of their use when the monitor is placed on a desk. - Having only a single HDMI and single DP inputs is pretty stingy, though not uncommon in cheaper monitors. - The included stand seemed to have a defect in it causing a significant counter-clockwise roll tilt. A bubble level confirmed that the base was level while the display was tilted. The lower right corner was about 3mm higher than the lower left corner, which was very visible and disorienting. Detaching and re-attaching the display from/to the stand, and making sure it snapped into place did not help. After some physical coercion, I was able to reduce this problem significantly, but not completely. I DO *NOT* recommend doing this; if something is off with the monitor, it’s better to return/swap it. I expect this was a unit defect and not representative of the model in general. Regardless, I’ve never seen tilt nearly this bad in a stock monitor stand, and I’ve had many. - Gravity-aligned input ports and power receptacle. Though this is probably the most common configuration, it makes plugging things in more difficult than necessary–particularly when placed on a desk with the included stand–and also makes it easier for cables to pop out unintentionally, especially the power cable. [ Thoughts ] I played several games over many hours in the three-day window I was granted for testing. I used QHD resolution (2560x1440) capped at 165 FPS for all games on an RTX 3080. Though G-Sync support isn’t listed in the monitor’s specifications, G-Sync was enabled by default for this monitor in the NVIDIA Control Panel. The results were good. I didn’t notice any tearing or stuttering issues. I was fine with the first two response time settings. Level 3 adds significant ghosting while level 4 adds what I’d call disastrous ghosting. My biggest gripe with the experience is the IPS glow, which is spatially inconsistent and quite noticeable in darker scenes. Unfortunately, this is a common issue with IPS displays, and the results can vary even between units of the same model, so it’s I’m not going to assign too much blame for this. Other than that, I didn’t notice any issues with edge bleed, dead pixels, bezel deformation, or other obvious imperfections. The PPI (Pixels Per Inch) rating of 93.24 is just slightly better than a 24” display at FHD resolution, or exactly the same if you round up to 32” for this display. I wouldn’t want to go above QHD on a single monitor for gaming because of my strong preference for higher and more consistent FPS over higher resolution, and that’s a balance that has to be juggled on more demanding games. For video content, a 4K display would be nicer to have because of resolution scaling concerns, but personally, I wouldn’t pay much extra for this. When it comes to things like text and various GUI elements, I do notice pixelation at this PPI at the distance I have my monitors from my chair, so a 4K display would have extra value for me when doing things like web browsing and general application usage. These things should be considered when judging how well a monitor might suit your needs.

I find myself sitting at pc watching movies. The 165Hz refresh is very fluid. The brightness on the screen has a rating of out at 400 nits. You get no strain to your eyes with a contrast ratio of 1000:1. AMD FreeSync with a low blue light mode. Anti-glare helps with us online gamers. You have the choice of an HDMI 2.0 or display port. In the box, you get an included DisplayPort, power adapter, and a Vesa mounting stand. Check this one out.

Whether you’re in the market for a high tech, large gaming monitor or just a simple computer monitor, the new HP X32 IPS QHD AMD FreeSync monitor might just be the right go between. For the hardcore or amateur gamers, the large 31.5” diagonal 16:9 QHD (2560 x 1440) monitor packs plenty of high-end features including up to a 165 Hz refresh rate, a 1 millisecond response time using Overdrive, 1000:1 contrast ratio and AMD’s FreeSync Premium technology. For those not into gaming and just looking for a better-quality monitor for personal or business use, there are several features for that as well including HP’s Eye Ease technology, low blue light mode and anti-glare which all reduces eye strain while sitting in front of the screen for extended periods of time. To first address some of the specifics of the monitor, it has two video inputs including a HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections. The monitor stand is 100 mm height adjustable and you can adjust the tilt as well. There are no speakers on the monitor but you can plug your speakers into the monitor to transfer audio from the inputs using the 3.5 mm audio jack. The 3-sided micro-edge bezel around the monitor is small and barely noticeable although not the smallest I’ve used. Regarding gaming, the picture on the X32 is crystal clear due to its high refresh rate, fast response time and 3.7 million pixels crammed into the QHD screen. The colors appear to pop out of the screen using the HDR 400 technology. In my gaming experiences, I haven’t noticed any motion blur whatsoever and the screen moves very fluidly while moving rapidly in high end AAA games. Because of the amount of time many of us spend every day either working or gaming on a screen, I truly feel one must invest in the anti-fatigue and low blue light technology and HP’s built-in technology does a great job preventing the headaches I used to get staring at a screen. I have always used my monitor(s) for all the reasons I listed so this monitor was the perfect fit in my situation. Not only does it function great for everything you can throw at it including hooking it up to high end gaming consoles, it’s also large enough to replace using multiple smaller monitors as I did. Overall, HPs X32 gaming monitor does not disappoint and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a high-end monitor for any occasion.

I’ve been using the HP 31.5” IPS QHD monitor for a few years now, and I’m really happy with it! The 31.5” screen size is perfect — it feels immersive without being overwhelming. The QHD resolution makes everything look crisp and sharp, whether I’m gaming, watching videos, or working on spreadsheets. What really stands out to me is the color quality. The IPS panel gives vibrant colors and great viewing angles, so the picture looks good no matter where I’m sitting. It also has AMD FreeSync, which helps with smooth gameplay. I mostly play casual games, and the 75Hz refresh rate is more than enough for me — no screen tearing or lag. I know some hardcore gamers might want something faster, but this works perfectly for my needs. The design is clean and modern, and the thin bezels are a nice touch. The stand is sturdy, though it doesn’t adjust for height, which could be a downside for some people. Personally, I don’t mind since I set it up on a riser. Connectivity is solid with HDMI and DisplayPort options, but I do wish it had USB ports. Also, the brightness is good for my space, but if you’re in a really bright room, it might feel a little dim. Overall, I think this monitor is a fantastic deal for the price. It’s big, clear, and handles gaming and work like a champ. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a high-quality monitor that doesn’t break the bank!

Good Entry Level QHD Gaming Monitor, Crooked Stand

The HP X32 has proved to be a great QHD or 1440p for gaming and casual use. Although it is not perfect, it proves that it’s a good value for the price point if you want the higher refresh rate. In the Box: - Stand (Height, Tilt adjustable) - Monitor - Displayport Cable - Power Cable - Manuals Placing the monitor on the stand is as easy as many monitors these days with the clip and go approach. The stand provides a nice simplistic look with only height and tilt adjustment. It would have been nice to have a swivel for both the base and the screen but at this price it’s not a big deal. The power cable has no external brick and the included DisplayPort cable supports the max resolution/refresh rate this monitor can handle. It is a little disappointing to see only one HDMI and one DisplayPort input in the back of the monitor as that is just about as basic as it gets. Usage: I connected the display via DP to DP as well as a DP to USB-C cable for laptop use and both worked without issue. The monitor automatically set the resolution and the refresh rate to the max supported. The issue I quickly found out while navigating the screens menu was the 5 buttons on the back are terrible for quickly navigating. The bottom button is the power button and the others are selection buttons. HP has not differentiated them at all so you can accidently turn the monitor off (Which I did more than once). The buttons work but a joystick or different button setup would be better. The included monitor stand seems to have a defect that puts the screen at a slight counter clockwise angle. Measured from the desk to the bottom of the monitor it shows about 1/5” or 5mm tilt which was verified by a level on top of the monitor. I didn’t notice at first but overtime I did seem to noticed something was off slightly. Outside of these two issues above, I have very much enjoyed using the monitor. The colors are pretty good. The blacks could be better but that is likely from the IPS panel. I used the monitor at QHD with both 60hz and 165hz and everything looked great. Gaming at 165hz with higher FPS proved to highlight the monitors strengths. G-Sync appeared to be enabled through NVIDIA. Sharpness is fine for most applications but I would not go any lower than this PPI of 93. Having used anything from 1080p monitors to 4k monitors of various sizes, I would say this is a good middle ground if you want a 32” monitor. Pros: - DisplayPort cable included - Good colors and brightness - Higher refresh rate support - Stand has height/tilt adjustment (Not a guarantee on entry level monitors) Cons: - Stand has slight counterclockwise tilt (≈5mm) - Menu buttons on back hard to use - Single HDMI, DP Inputs Overall: I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a larger, QHD gaming monitor. The X32 offers all the necessities for gaming along with a satisfactory resolution and design that would work in just about every environment. With another input on the back and a stand that holds the monitor level, I would call this a great, large gaming monitor on a budget.

Huge. Fast. Awesome. Huge. This monitor surprised me at how big it was once I actually put it on my desk. I had to move my desktop to a smaller table next to my desk because this and my other monitor took up so much more room, but it’s amazing! The refresh rate of 165 Hz is more than enough. I don’t think I even get the full effect of the refresh rate because my graphics card could stand to be upgraded soon - I’ve held out because of the shortage but may upgrade soon since the market has cooled off. The QHD screen is beautiful as I hope you can see in the pics I attached. The 1 ms response time also helps to keep everything buttery smooth. The monitor adjusts easily like monitors do. It’s got great viewing angles, I didn’t notice any darkening on the screen when viewed from an angle, of course I’m usually looking straight at it. I haven’t mounted it but it has the standard mount holes on the back if you want to mount it on the wall. I know it would save space on my desk if I do. I’d love to have another to go side by side but not right now, maybe Christmas? Either way I like it enough to want another.

Absolutely love this monitor. I have my PS5 hooked up to it and it looks fantastic! I wish it had some built in speakers, but it’s not that big of an issue. I would absolutely buy this again if I needed a new monitor for some reason.

I’m personally picky about displays. I’ve used a ton over the years, from LGs to Samsungs to Acers, and different kinds of panels such as OLED. But I wanted a inexpensive montior for my bedroom setup, one that was large too. Noticed Best Buy was selling this monitor and decided to go for it, even when theres almost no info about it online. After using it for a while I can say that it performs identically to the HP X27q, which is a highly regarded budget monitor. At HDR it reaches nearly 500nits of brightness, or in other words, its really bright. By default the colors are a little off though, so I had to calibrate it (see image 4 for colors and 5 for gamma). I recommend a setting of 6400 for white balance. I use an AMD card and can change it though Adrenaline. I also recommend a custom RGB of R 250 G 253 B 255, this can be changed through the HP Display Center from the Windows store. I also recommend lowering the Gamma through Color Management -> Advanced -> Calibrate Display in the Control Panel. After all that, you have a very bright and color accurate HDR monitor for less than $300. Here are two cons to be fair though: 1. HDR forces a poor implementation of Local dimming which is edge lit and has 8 zones. Black scenes look like a dark grey and local dimming causes pillars of light or dark to be noticable in dark scenes. 2. 165hz can only be accessed through Displayport, not HDMI, but the monitor does come with a Displayport cable. My gaming laptop doesnt have displayport though. But 144hz is still great.

Ordered this and dabbled with a few games on the Series S. Quality! Unfortunately I returned the monitor, hoping to get something similar in the future!
