Bigger is almost always better when it comes to computer monitors.
So if you have the room for a spacious 31.5 incher, you could do a lot worse than new HP Series 5 532f FHD monitor.
As the name suggests, the resolution here is full HD, 1920x1080, which is more than adequate for sharp images when dealing with most computing tasks. Its also a VA (vertical alignment) panel, instead the more common IPS (in plane switching) , which means that while viewing angles are limited, color and contrast are very good. Refresh rates of up to 100 hz are supported.
Wide viewing angles are usually not important with computer monitors since you generally sit right in front of them all the time.
This HP monitor has the same basic design as those of the previous-generation. That means the screen itself is very thin and light, the bezel very small and and setup is super easy. A small tilting riser simply clicks into place and it is joined to an elegant metal stand with a single screw. Even better you don't even a screwdriver to tighten it down. A flip up handle on the screw head means you can tighten it with your bare hands. All assemblies should be this easy.
All mointor settings are via hidden push buttons under the lower right corner of the screen. I have never been a fan of this approach, since it makes navigating the various menu options difficult. But this setup is now typical on almost all computer monitors.
The range of settings are fairly typical, except perhaps for HP's EyeEase option, which is supposed filter out blue light and reduce eye discomfort. This is of marginal value in my view since recent studies indicate blue light from computer moinitors is not anything you need to worry about. But it's there if you want to try it.
For what is worth, I found the out-of-the box image settings on this monitor were excellent and required no additional tweaking. Colors were bright and vivid. Contrast was very good. Images were nice and sharp.
Input options on this monitor are limited to two HDMI and one VGA port (does anyone really still use those?) It would be nice if HP would add a DisplayPort option since that is all that is available on some newer computers. But low-cost adapters make it easy to get around that issue. The monitor comes with an HDMI cable.
Overall, the HP Series 5 532f is a very good monitor, providing me very little to complain about except maybe the price.

The HP 31.5" VA LED FHD 100Hz Monitor is a solid choice for those seeking a large, high-refresh-rate display without breaking the bank. The 100Hz refresh rate provides smooth motion and reduces motion blur, making it ideal for watching fast-paced videos. The low blue light feature is great for reducing eye strain during long periods of use. It's also compatible with Chromebooks, which is convenient if you use one as your primary device.
The Full HD resolution ensures crisp and clear images, while the VA panel delivers good color reproduction and wide viewing angles. The monitor also features HDMI and VGA inputs, offering flexibility in connectivity. However, the absence of DisplayPort or USB-C ports may limit its compatibility with newer devices.
The monitor's design is sleek and modern, with slim bezels that make it suitable for multi-monitor setups. The stand is sturdy and allows for tilt adjustment, but lacks height adjustment or swivel capabilities.
Overall, the HP 31.5" VA LED FHD 100Hz Monitor offers excellent value for its size and refresh rate, making it a great choice for multimedia enthusiasts. I would recommend this HP monitor if you are in the market for a new one.

Over the years we’ve been heavy users of HP PC’s, monitors, printers, & laptops for both home & business. Overall, we’ve enjoyed good value from HP & a consistent record of performance, dependability, & durability across our many HP devices.
Although I’ve enjoyed my older HP 27f IPS LED Widescreen, it’s now almost 6 years old. So, I was ready for a newer HP monitor & was excited to evaluate this new ‘Series 5’ monitor. After just a few days’ usage, I can say that I’ve already noticed less eye fatigue while enjoying a little more vivid display.
To begin with, I didn’t think that an extra 4.5” in diagonal screen size would be that noticeable. But the difference was immediately apparent when I played one of my all-time video favs shot in HD way back in 2009-2010—the classic Wingsuit BASE Jumping—The Need 4 Speed: The Art of Flight w/immortal martial artist Bruce Lee narrating the intro & a perfectly matched musical accompaniment by Hybrid w/their classic “Disappear Here”. Moving up from a 27” LED to a 1/6 larger screen at 31.5” in Full HD (while admittedly not FHD+) along with moving up from a 1k-to-1 contrast ratio to an arguable 3k-to-1 contrast ratio & a 100Hz refresh rate vs. the previous 60Hz—all made a difference. Oh, and no more shuddering when I’m scrolling.
As a bit of a minimalist, I do like the look of this sleek, clean black rectangle now sitting atop my height-adjustable electric standing desk. The design profile of this monitor is simple, thin & light & aesthetically pleasing from every angle. On the back side are 2 HDMI 1.4 ports & a 15-pin VGA connector.
As many hours as I spend in front of my monitors working on projects, I’m grateful for HP’s anti-glare & Eye Ease feature w/Eyesafe certification to help limit the amount of blue light I’m exposed to. Although I try not to work on my computer for at least 1 full hour before bedtime, I can’t say that I’ve noticed any improved sleep with this display, but I have noticed a little less eyestrain at night.
Overall, this is a pretty standard monitor which is suitable for home use or small business owners like us. It looks good, but the specs aren’t noteworthy, much less exceptional. It gets the job done but it’s not a performance monitor, & I wouldn’t use it for gaming or digital video editing. It’s functional, but not special.

I have two similar HP monitors that cannot be installed into a dual monitor stand. Lesson learned and I need to pay attention to the monitor's modification capabilities.
