I am sorry that your cartridge did not fit. I'm wondering if you ordered the correct one, because any black cartridge should fit the opening (which has a pentagon icon) for the black cartridge.
It is easy to mistakenly order the thin Photo cartridges instead of the regular black cartridges. Because they used to be labeled 'Photo Black' and some suppliers still refer to them by that name. The Photo cartridge goes into the smaller slot labeled with an icon shaped like a bowtie. Here is a link to some online information about that: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01839024

Posted .Hi Craic, thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Page yield of your HP 564 Twin Pack Ink Cartridges Black. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). The actual yield varies considerably based on the content of the printed pages, the frequency of printing, the ink used in set-up etc. You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fast draft mode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period of time (ie: longer than one month).
