    While I'm sure you could use a non-HP genuine ink cartridge, I will continue to use this for the simple reason that I don't print much, but when I do, the quality is already excellent and the printer is still going strong, despite owning it for 5 years now. All-in-all, it's pricey but well worth it for the peace of mind knowing it will play well with your HP printer. Just remember to maintain your printer every few months with the built in features and you'll be rewarded for years to come.
