It's Printer Ink...easy to install and affordable

I bought an HP Envy product and I looked at what ink cartridges the one I bought took because I didn't want to spend a lot of money every time I needed ink. It's not really expensive but it doesn't last very long. HP really is trying to push their subscription based refill program. Maybe if it wasn't based on how many pages you printed, it would make more sense. Either way, I don't print much so the occasional printer ink cartridge splurge won't break the bank. It's hard for me to justify buying the XL versions because I honestly don't know if they last much more. HP says double but if I was in marketing, I would label something XL and say there's twice as much even if was an off-truth. The normal HP cartridge will do. It's easy to install and affordable.

This cartridge is easy to put in the printer. It gives good, sharp printed imaging. Very basic cartridge, so not much more expected. But I have to say, it does not last long and costs a pretty penny! If I have a large job, it is less expensive to take it to my local library; rather than having to go buy another cartridge all the time. Makes the convenience of home printing too costly and too much trouble, time & gas running to Best Buy all the time to replenish. That being said, it is a fine product. Just needs more quantity of ink, for less quantity of cash.

Printer Ink not up to HP Standards

I have been using HP Products (Mainly Laptops, Printers and even a camera back in the day) and for years I have had very good results, which is why I am so surprised very disappointed to find out that I am only getting approx 90-100 black printed pages using the #62 original ink cartridge ($18.49) which states 200 pages. I understand the 200 pages is approximate, but I am actually getting less than half! That is just not acceptable to me.

      Hi,

I'm sorry that your ink appears to have been used up too quickly. Unless you were printing mostly high density prints, it does seem like you should have been able to print more.

Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help:
      - A high-density print (like a photo) will use the ink more quickly than a text-only document, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
      - Many find that Instant Ink is a good value. Details about the pay-by-the page plans can be found here: instantink.com

If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to contact us at: hp.com/contactHP

Nothing remarkable about printer ink cartridges. This is the first one we've purchased since buying a new printer, and since we are paying full price we only got the smaller size. Since we buy most of our electronics products at Best Buy - a Great store - we bought this ink here. It is working fine, doing just what we expected, and since purchasing we have bought some larger ones (black) at a discount. We print mostly in black & white, so our ink will get used quickly. I don't know whether this new printer will use the ink faster than our very old HP model.

Even though HP cartridges provide quality printing and copy results, the quantity of copies is somewhat misrepresented by the manufacture. The cartridge disclaimer is as follows: the 62 black ink cartridge will deliver up to 250 copies. Deceptive, to say the least. As long as the cartridge delivers one (1) copy it has met its disclaimer. In all actuality, HP black cartridges deliver must less quanity than disclaimed. If half the quantity is obtained, half the price should be exchanged. Make sense? Have a blessed day.

Bought this Ink Cartridge for my new HP Envy 7640 printer. The printer has exceeded my expectations. The ink cartridge was well packaged and easy to open. The replacement for the old cartridge was straight forward. You have the option to buy a high yield cartridge for additional life. The cartridge that was replaced gave a reasonable amount of prints. I print mainly documents and photos. The photos printed nicely with solid colors when paired with the HP 62 Cyan/Magenta/Yellow cartridge.

Im not even sure how to return it since it is the online easy replenish through Best Buy. A service I love, but am bummed this time the cartridge was bad. 1st time that's happened so far though, I hope it's the last!

Bought this 62 HP ink cartridge in black. The color is sharp, however I was dissappointed in how little ink it seems to contain. Not long after I completed 2 jobs, I was out of ink. It makes more sense and produces greater value to opt for the HP 62 XL. It enables you to do more than twice the number of printing jobs and reduces trips to the store to purchase.

If your HP printer calls for ink cartridge #62 then you have to go with this product. You can try the less expensive kits but the printer is too smart for that and typically won't use the cartridge. If you're using this printer for your kid's school work, do your self a favor and have an extra on hand. I always try to keep one in reserve because it's not until ~9:30 they'll notice the printer has "suddenly" gone dry.

Easily found in store, reasonably priced and easy to install. We always use Best Buy for computer needs and, of course, repairs. They are much cheaper than grand kids, easier to talk to and understand and can explain how they corrected our mistakes without grinning so much. And, we don't need to take them home and feed them or take them to dance class during our nap periods or martini hour.

Alas, I had unthinkingly chosen a printer which needs this tiny ink cartridge holding only a tiny amount of toner, which has to be replaced after only printing a small number of pages, and is relatively expensive. Next time I buy a computer I will choose the printer first before I tire of all the available choices offered to me and cease thinking about what I am buying..

I have been purchasing HP ink for a very long time. I have owned several HP product and always use HP ink. It use to be that I could get really close to 200 copies per cartridge but that isn't happening anymore, I am lucky to get 120 now. I don't know if it is the printer or the ink but I tend to think it is the ink. I just really watch for sales now on the black because of this.

After going through a few HP cartridges I decided to start tracking the number of sheets I can print per cartridge. With my last cartridge I got 77 B&W pages before needing replacement. Next test will be the XL version of 62 to see how many pages I get?

Good ink, it is made specifically for HP printers. The bad thing is that it is pretty high cost and does not last that long (depending on how much and how often you print). I wish HP would lower the cost of their ink, then it would get 5 stars. I would recommend to a friend if they could not find a lower cost alternative that would still work well with HP printers.

The ink is fine quality, my only complaint would be that it seems like it runs out pretty quickly. I can't say I know what the usual amount of ink for a printer cartridge, but I wish I didn't have to change them quite so often. i'm a college student and need to print out large volumes of texts at times, and I can go through black ink quite frequently.

I recently purchased an extra black cartridge when I purchased a new HP ENVY 7640. The printer is great and the cartridges are so easy to change out. Surprisingly I haven't had to use this extra cartridge yet as I am still using the original cartridge and with two of us in college, I am quite surprised I haven't had to switch it out!!

My HP printer was not working, sent me an error message asking me to replace black ink cartridge. Though I had hardly used the HP printer I finally gave up and though thinking HP printers brain was in error, I purchased and replaced the black ink cartridge. So printer was correct and my HP printer is now working.

Hey kids it's an ink cartridge. These tend to be too expensive for what they are. I have also noticed that they tend to smear the printer when putting them in. I have used them for years and they just aren't anything special. If you need to print you need to use these.
