Doesn't last or Best Buy's ink program is the prob

I don't think this is an HP ink issue. The quality of the product is great. Where my issue is, either these carts have a very poor lifespan, or Best Buy's ink replacement program needs to dial it back. I've had this printer since Christmas, and I haven't gone through a pack of paper, but I have received 2 shipments of color and black ink. Crazy

      Hi JM,

I am sorry that you got so few printouts from the cartridge. Unless you were doing a lot of printing that required high-density ink usage, it does seem like you should have gotten more printed.

I can certainly understand wanting to find more affordable options for your printing! Toward that end, you might be interested in trying Instant Ink. Details about the pay-by-the page plans can be found here: instantink.com

If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to request a replacement or refund from the seller.

I wasn't aware that this cartridge was not going to last very long. As a school district employee and graduate student, I print a lot, but should have gone with the XL - which was my mistake. Definitely pay the extra amount for the longer lasting cartridge if that's what you need.

      Hi,

I'm sorry that your ink seems to be used up quickly. The larger capacity cartridge should be better for you. If your printer is eligible, you might like subscribing to the Instant Ink. When enrolled, you basically pay per page. That is especially good for people who print a lot of pictures and other high-density print jobs. You can find more details at: hpinstantink.com

Using the draft and black only settings on your printer helps save ink. Also, shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, you always have to use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.

This is my fourth cartridge for 1180 copies printed with first 3 cartridges - it’s almost as if this has been recycled. I know it isn’t Best Buy but hp, but you are selling them

      Hi Kathy,

I am sorry to hear that the cartridge didn't give you many prints. Unless you are printing a lot of high-density printouts, it seems like it should have lasted longer for you!

Provided that the cartridge is not damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (such as photos and graphs) will require more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

That said, I have a few tips that might help lower your ink usage:
      - You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets the printer ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Instant Ink might be worth a try. Many customers like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, which can save you money. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com

When it seems that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you are always free to contact the seller for a replacement.

If none of those tips work, and if a defective genuine HP cartridge is not replaced by the seller (and is still within the warranty end dates on the cartridge) you can reach out to us for support: hp.com/contactHP

Have to replace often, does not last very long. We purchased a laser printer shortly after purchasing this cartridge. I would recommend purchasing a laser printer and not one that needs ink.

Everytime I buy new ink, my printer keeps saying low ink,, I truly think HP recycles the ink cartridge instead of using new ones, at this point I may consider buying the refillable ..

This is the ink needed for my printer. You pay a lot for it and it is gone in a flash. What happened to having ink last longer than a week?

      Hi Alee,

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the page yield. The estimates of pages printed are based on industry standards. How the cartridge will perform in real life situations will vary quite a bit.

Provided the cartridge is not damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (such as photos) will require more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

That said, I have a few tips that might help:
      - You might use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings whenever possible to save ink.

      - Instant Ink might be worth a try. Many customers like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, ultimately saving you money. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com
      - If you suspect there was something wrong with the cartridge, you are always free to contact the seller.
      - contact us if it is a defective genuine cartridge that is not replaced by the vendor (they are still within the warranty ends date on the cartridges): hp.com/contactHP
