    I got 9 color pages total out of this cartridge and it was totally empty! So I tried other cartridge in the two pack and the same result happened. These cartridges are not worth the price. I am stuck with the printer so I have no choice but to buy them.

      Hello John,

      I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you twice! That sounds frustrating.

      Provided that the cartridge is not damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (such as photos) will require more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

      However, no matter how dense the printing was, 9 pages does seem too low. Unless something else was affecting the cartridges (like the printer was turned off, using a power strip, for a long while, which would dry out the cartridges badly), I would suspect you got defective cartridges.

      That being said, I have a few tips for the future that might help lower your ink usage:
      - You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets the printer ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Instant Ink might be worth a try. Many people like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, which can save you money. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com
