Reliable-ish but Overpriced Ink
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to buy this despite the previous cartridge still having ink in it, the printer is generally reliable but I decided to finish up with this last one and switch to a Laser printer. Chances are the cartridge just decided it was 'expired' lol Now that the price for those and Eco Tank type printers is either comparable or more reasonable, I wouldn't recommend using old printers using exploitatively priced cartridges anymore.

Posted .Hello,
I am sorry that you encountered this problem with the cartridge. I am very sorry to hear about this.
Normally, ink usage determines how long a cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is very absorbent and the air is dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
- Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
- Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage.
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
- Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com
If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you were sent a cartridge already low on ink, please contact the seller.

HP65 Black and White Printer Ink

Not great, Bob
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use my printer for school and don't really need a lot of color, but when I do, about every other month, I need to buy a new cartridge. It lasts the one time, maybe 10 pages, then it's done. Maybe it works better if you need it more?

Posted .Hello there,
I am sure replacing the cartridges was an extra step in your day. I am sorry that happened to you! Let's go through some troubleshooting items.
First, check the ink level in the printer. Run the printer maintenance option from the settings menu. Inspect the cartridge and the print rollers. Use a damp cloth to clean both items.
Restart the printer and see if it works. If not, contact us at www.support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/.

Nice

Posted .Hi there,
I can understand if you are disappointed when the cartridge seemed to run out too quickly.
Here are some things that might help get the tricolor cartridge to last longer:
- Use the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out both black and colored ink
- When appropriate, you can change the settings to print black only. then areas that would use color will print out in shades of gray
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
- Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job
If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you got a cartridge that was already low on ink, please contact the seller.

Posted .Hi Lilly,
I regret that you have had this experience. I can understand if you were disappointed when the cartridge seemed to run out too quickly.
If you only print occasionally, it is a good idea to shut the printer down between uses. However, it is important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridge is protected from excessive drying which leads to clogging

Posted .Hi,
I can understand if you are disappointed when the cartridges seem to run out too quickly.
How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is extra absorbent and the air is warm and dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
- Use the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
- Instant Ink lets you pay by the page and can save you a lot, especially if you print high-density frequently. Check out the details at: instantink.com

Zero stars
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These ink cartridges are terrible. They don’t last and cost a lot. I’ve spent more money in cartridges than the printer cost times 10! HP host lost my business for life. I now own Shaq’s printer and it is awesome! No cartridges and the ink lasts forever and you get hundred’s of prints. Don’t waste your money on HP.

Posted .Hi,
We respect your feedback about the ink cartridges. As the ink is expensive to make, it is often the most costly part of the printing experience. I do want to help you extend the life of the ink cartridge. Decrease the print quality setting to get more ink. Turning off the printer in between prints saves the cartridges from going dry. Print only in black ink to skip replacing the color cartridges. When you must print, carefully scan each page in draft mode. I hope you give HP another chance.

Posted .Hi there,
I am so sorry that the colors are not blended when you print. I think there are a few quick fixes to help.
- If it involves the cartridge, it is likely either a clog or a leak. You can check both by taking out the cartridge. If it is clogged, gently remove the residue with a soft cloth. If it is a leak, you will need a different cartridge.
- If the problem is not the cartridge, then it might be a printing issue. Contact HP support at https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp. Our technical experts can help you solve this issue.

Posted .Hi,
I'm sorry you didn't get more photos printed. Ink usage of the cartridge (unless it was damaged or defective) will determine how long it lasts in your particular printer. High-density prints, like your photos, will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly-absorbent and the air is dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
- Most people have found that the XL version of the cartridges are a much better value.
- Using the black-only setting, when appropriate, will save on colored ink usage.
- Shut the printer down between uses; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Consider getting Instant Ink. The subscription plans let you pay by the page, which is a really good deal for photos. Check out the details at: instantink.com
When a cartridge is low on ink to begin with, or it appears that poor page yield was due to a defect, contact the seller.
