These inks/toners last a long time but beware the expiration dates. Becoming hard to find in stores.

After trying to save money on ink jets for my printer by purchasing from a discount on-line source, I finally had enough of dried out, unusable cartridges, and went back to buying them from someplace I trust.

GREAT Cartridge at a FAIR Price

I don't mind admitting that I was awfully nervous about getting a cartridge that was at or near its "package" expiration date. ... I had been shopping for this HP 78XL Tri-Color cartridge (for weeks) on the world's most popular auction "site" (you know which one I mean). Yes, I was really hoping to save a few bucks on a VERY pricey cartridge. Unfortunately, so many of the cartridges that were really cheap (or even moderately priced) were up to 6 years PAST their expirations. ... In other words, they had probably gone COMPLETELY DRY between 2 to 3 years ago. ... Why anyone would waste their money buying a 3 to 6 year expired cartridge just absolutely leaves me baffled!?! So I waited for a sale at Best Buy (all of $5.35 - leaving me a total savings of $0.73 after paying my local sales tax) and I went ahead and purchased it online at bestbuy.com, because they don't regularly stock this cartridge at ANY Best Buy retail store location. ... I really can't blame Best Buy for this policy, after all, MOST of the HP printers that use this cartridge ... (like my "wide-bed" (11"x18" paper-size-capable) 1220C Deskjet. - It's 19 years old now and still works like it was only 2 or 3 years old, and I still love it, A LOT) ... haven't been sold for 9 to 12 years now. The fact that I had to "special order" this cartridge only added to my unease about receiving a cartridge that was truly "fresh". So I had a 20 minute online "chat" session with a wonerfully amiable Best Buy online C.S.R. who assured me many times over that Best Buy WOULD NOT sell me an "at or near" expiration $71.64 HP cartridge. This was enough for me to complete my purchase, so I "bit the bullet" then and there. *** IMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunately, I lost out on my Best Buy members' regular 15% ink cartridge discount, BECAUSE I was buying the cartridge at a "sale" price. ... DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! --> I missed out on an additional $7.62 saving, because I didn't purchase this cartridge at its "regular" price. ... In retrospect, I feel just a bit stupid for succumbing to my impatience. Even still, I had the cartridge delivered for "in-store pick-up" at my local Best Buy store (which is less than 3 miles away for "lucky" me) so I could refuse it if the expiration date was less than 6 months "out". ... AND, to my GREAT DELIGHT, when I picked it up (LESS THAN 7 days after I purchased it) the package expiration date WAS "August 2018" ...YEA!!! ... I should have never doubted Best Buy after all the great experiences I have had with them over the last 13-plus years ... MY BAD. Finally, to Hewlett Packard's GREAT CREDIT: The last 78 (NON-XL) cartridge I had in my "dinosaur" 1220C Deskjet printer lasted more than 2 years after installation, when it was already more than a year expired after being stored on a shelf for more than a year. --> It WAS vacuum sealed with its "nozzles" down - VERY IMPORTANT - NEVER store these cartridges upside down. ... I'm expecting to get at least 2 (hopefully 3-plus) years of use out of this brand new 78XL cartridge. ... Admittedly, I DON'T USE my HP 1220C every day, but I SURE TRY TO use it EVERY week so the cartridge "nozzles"/"reed" DON'T dry up completely while THERE IS STILL wet ink in the cartridge. --> From my 15 years of experience with my 1220C, I think this is VERY important. ... Even if you only send one "printer test page" weekly, don't let your HP printer with a Tri-Color cartridge sit unused for any more than 10 to 14 days ever (and never more than 30 days). BOTTOM LINE: "Exercise" your HP printer with a Tri-Color cartridge WEEKLY, period. P.S. My "daily" printer is a Canon PIXMA MG5420, 3-in-1. It has (5) separate color ink cartridges that cost $12 to $17 each ($18 to $25 for "XL"). ... A FAR BETTER SOLUTION THAN EVER HAVING TO BUY ANOTHER TRI-COLOR CARTRIDGE THAT HAS STOPPED YOUR PRINTER'S OPERATION, BECAUSE ONE OF THE COLORS HAS RUN OUT WHILE THE OTHER TWO ARE STILL JUST FINE. - Excuse the ranting please, Mr. SpockCO.

This cartridge was not stocked in the store, but the sales person ordered it, and at the sale price. I received it in just a few days. It all worked very well, and I will probably have to do it the same the next time I have to replace this cartridge. Thanks for your help.

This was just ink for my printer. Since my printer is older, it is sometimes difficult to find replacement ink. Luckily Best Buy carries it.

What can you say about the HP - 950XL High-Yield Cyan/Magenta/Yellow Ink Cartridge. It is a replacement cartridge necessary to printing.

Printer ink seems to disappear so quickly. It was good to be able to cash in on the sale at this time.
