Manufacturer's the only viable option, but pricy.

Not much to say. I love the printer this fits. It's an AWESOME printer at a GREAT price. The cartridges make up for that. I recommend saving an empty cartridge and refilling it. This toner cartridge has a much larger reservoir than the one that comes included with some models, by the way-- the out-of-the-box cartridge that came with my printer has maybe 1/2 or 1/3 the capacity of one of these manufacturer replacements.

I bought this almost 9 months ago as the printer sent a notification that it was low on toner and the level indicator appeared to be zero. I have since printed hundreds and hundreds of pages with this "empty" cartridge and it's still going. The issue is that I can no longer return the new cartridge if it's defective and I have a cartridge that is a year old (manufacture date 01/29/2018).

      HP Team

      Hi,

I'm sorry that you were sent a black toner cartridge that appears to be defective. However, I hope to help the situation.

The level indicator not working is usually indicative of a refilled cartridge. The gauge will not work properly when the cartridge is not original. However, perhaps it is a defect in the cartridge that is interfering with it.

The warranty on toner cartridges is handled differently depending on what region you are in (to comply with their laws), so the date code on the packages and cartridges is actually a manufacturing date.

In North America. As long as it is a genuine cartridge (not a refill), and not empty (or has triggered a "low" message), you can return a defective one to us for replacement.

Since it is past the time you can return the cartridge to the seller, you can reach out to us for support, by your preferred method found at: hp.com/contactHP

    Competitive Price...

Best Buy had this at a competitive price and usually has it in stock and it lasts a long time even if you don't put your printer settings in draft mode. Ideally I think it should be priced lower but unless you get a no name product that says it's compatible and risk screwing up your printer then the price is right where most of the cheaper ones are.

I have used "off" brand replacement cartridges in the past. Some times they work well other times not at all. if that is the case you are stuck with a non-functional printer for several days (unacceptable). I have never had an issue with HP cartridges they simply work. You can extend the life of the HP cartridges by removing them and shaking them a little and replacing them. This will get you an additional 10-20 pages.

The product is great. It is easy to replace the old cartridge with the new. When replacing the cartridge and removing the strip the toner did not spill. It was effortless. I am not a heavy user for printing but this toner lasts a very long time. It prints evenly and of course no smudging occurs. I will definitely be purchasing again in the future and recommending to friends and family.

Good quality toner cartridge, ink doesn't last

I find this toner cartridge very easy to use. You just lift the lid and depress a button. The cartridge pops right out for easy retrieval. The same is true when you put the new cartridge into the machne; very easy. The ink is very good quality so the printer works well with it. My only complaint is that I thought the cartridge would last longer for more preints.

    Reliable Ink for Laser Printers

This ink cartridge lasts like a year and I'm talking a full year with printing at least 10-20 pages a week. As a college student, having a laser printer is ideal because I'm only buying an ink cartridge every year. You save a lot of money and I think for a kid who's going to school it's the best decision. Overall, it's a solid decision to get this ink and it's HP printer to match it.

I was suspicious from the get go. The box was sealed but when I opened it the plastic package holding the toner cartridge was open. I installed it and after only a printing a few things it was already running out of ink. It was supposed to be a brand new cartridge. Nonetheless, it was a waste of money. I'll never order ink online again. I'll only go in the store now.

HP laser ink cartridge gives good performance

I went with a HP laser printer to save cost over printing on a color Cannon that has four inkjet cartridges. Although the HP replacement cartridges are expensive, they print a lot of paper. The cost per page is significantly lower than inkjet. With the HP brand, considering this laser printer and several HP inkjet printers I have owned, any printing problems I have had were fixed with a new cartridge.

This cartridge was purchased along with the printer to replace the one that came with the printer. (700 page capability) The replacement cartridge is supposed to print 2k pages. I'll have to wait until it's placed into service before it can be evaluated. I do believe $65.00 is a little high for this cartridge but when you need printing capability you can't always wait on the best deal.

We always buy HP toners because we've been burned with substitutes before. The HP toners work the best (imho) on our machines. This purchase would have been fine had my husband not given me the wrong number and did not realize that until he opened the package and tried to install the cartridge. So we are stuck with an 85A when what we needed was 80A. His bad!

I was looking to buy this item initially on Amazon but the Best Buy manager convinced me that he could match the price and so I was relieved I could buy it right there instead having to wait a few days for it to be delivered to me. I have used this toner cartridge before and it is of excellent quality.

While ink and toner is ridiculously expensive this is what fits my HP1102W that I have been using for years. Overall it has pretty consistent performance over the life. I don't count pages printed so not sure how it stack up to the marketing specifications.

I purchased this HP product at Best Buy, and I have never had any problems with any HP products that work with my small LaserJet printer. This product lasts approximately 1 year at my office. This is the cartridge that works with my HP LaserJet P1102 W printer. It never streaks, or smears on any type of paper.

I have had issues with off brand toners gumming up printers and not fitting right. I always buy HP branded toners for this reason and they have not let me down. You can also send them back to hp for recycling and get points to use towards free hp stuff. They even include the UPS shipping label to send it to them.

I appreciate the fact that Best Buy carries a fairly extensive selection of laser printer cartridges. It took me a while to figure out, but buying a slightly more expensive laser printer is, over, a better buy than buying a less expensive ink printer and having to constantly replace consumables.

The toner cartridge is OK, but I don't understand why they are so expensive. Actually, Best Buy is usually the lowest priced so that's not really a complaint about Best Buy. Overall, I am always satisfied with the service at Best Buy and also the rewards program.

It's hard to screw up toner. But, HP printers and toner are my go to choice for my home printing needs. This lasts longer than you would expect. Make sure to shake the toner when it gives you low toner warning. You will get more print jobs than you expect if you keep doing that every time it warns you.

Its more expensive than generic toner, but we always seem to have problems if using generics such as leaking, bad toners, etc. I've been sticking with the OEMs for these and have printers around 5yrs old still chugging along and printing thousands of pages. Definitely recommend.

The HP CE285A LaserJet Pro Print Cartridge is the standard toner refill for my HP laser printer. Although the price was high as usual for any OEM toner or ink, there is no need to worry about quality of the cartridge and print. I also was able to get a price match to an online vendor and did not have to wait for shipping.
