    Reliable but pricey

Having been a HP user for many many years, I will say that I am satisfied with the quality of my prints. My complaint and the reason I would not give 5 stars is that the ink is pricey and if/when you purchase a new printer (as your printer may become obsolete pretty quick) you generally cannot use the same model cartridge as you did for your previous printer. Fortunately I do not print a great deal so I don't have to buy ink frequently but I do have to watch the expiration dates on the package. The cost of ink usually exceeds the price you paid for the printer so I just say weigh all of your options but know that the ink quality and reliability are great.

All printer ink is too expensive!

I think that all printer ink is too expensive and manufacturers take advantage of users. For example we had a printer that used HP950 ink cartridges. We needed to replace the printer and bought a similar HP8710 printer that used 952 cartridges. The 952 cartridge is exactly the same as the 950s but the 950s have a different "docking" pattern that makes them incompatible. Unfortunately we used an auto-refill program and had excess ink cartridges that we had to throw away. I reluctantly answer "Yes" to the "would I recommend this product to a friend" question below. We are really given no choice. For this reason, I feel no loyalty to one printer manufacturer over another. I just go with the cheapest deal I can find at the time of purchase.

I've had several HP machines and always used their branded ink, just had not wanted to contend with the chance of problems on others. It is more expensive, but there are ways to cut that down some. Reward Zone members have gotten a small daily discount on ink, and HP occasionally seems to offer 'sponsored' sales giving a good discount on one or more cartridges. The HP ink is of high quality, I've always been happy with the printing results. This machine uses the 3 individual color cartridges (for this item, the 3 were sold in one box), so that you can change them one at a time if your ink use warrants it. It's a nice flexible feature that can let you be more efficient in the long run.

    Long Lasting

I have used HP ink for years. The cartridges last quite a while, and the colored inks are saturated colors. For my printer the colored inks are separate cartridges. I would recommend getting a printer where this is true, as using a single color cartridge potentially wastes a lot of unused ink. Even when only 1 of the 3 colors are not used up, the whole cartridge must be replaced.

It is good to have all colors together, not knowing which colors will be used up more quickly, but better to buy the 952 XL & get 2X the # of pages, both for black, as well as color. Nevertheless, I’ve not gone thru all 3 colors yet, and have typically found that I dont change cartridges across the color spectrum more frequently than quarterly, whether the cartridges are regular or XL.

I guess I’m old school but I still prefer printing documents over reading them on a screen... so I print (and recycle) a lot! This ink lasts several months without drying out or streaking. It doesn’t easily run if it happens to come in contact with moisture and, for the most part, it is dry by the time the printer is done printing the page no matter how dense the content.

Product is good as it is made specifically for the printer but my issue was when I attempted to use cartridges from two different boxes (because I don't replace cartridges that are not depleted) the printer had an issue and wouldn't recognize the new cartridge. Another issue came up with the installation, a cartridges' chip could get damaged to the point the printer wouldn't recognize it, you may not be able to even see the damage!

At +$80 the HP cartridges are just to expensive for me. I have chosen to go with an off brand that guarantees compatibility and will buy me a new printer if it causes any problems with print heads. 1/2 the price and comes with a guarantee! The off-brand is carried by Meijer, regional retailer in the midwest.

I never understand why when upgrades are added to the HP printer line why the same cartridges can't be used. I purchase several ahead so I don't run out then the printer goes bad and I can't return the ink. Not a good plan for the consumer but great for the seller cause you always have to buy the newest. I don't mind this for a printer but I don't like it at all for the cartridges. I mean seriously come on and work with the consumer sometimes.

It's ridiculous when you walk out of the store with a printer in one hand and a set of cartridges in the other - with the cartridges costing more than the printer. I am happy with the quality of the ink. I use the ink judiciously (black& white, draft mode) to extend the life of the cartridges. But still... they cost too much.

I have a home office and when I put in a brand new ink cartridge, I don't expect to run out of ink after printing less than 200 copies. This is the absolute worse product! i had no idea I would need to use the XL color ink before purchasing! This is an awful product and a waste of money

The color HP ink produces documents and photos with rich, vibrant color. I can proudly share photos with friends and family. The ink doesn’t smear and I haven’t noticed any fading, though I just started using HP ink when we purchased a new HP printer. If I notice future problems I will post.

Always reliable, but I feel price is too high. If I can find it less expensive online, I will. I found generic products, half the cost, on line - which have worked well so far. If they can manufacture the ink for half the cost, then HP should be able to come down on their price.

I always use HP ink and photo paper in my printer. While this ink is pricey, it is in line with other sources except big box but they do not sell this level of ink, always XL or multi packs. My cartridges were readily available and easy to find.

HP is a great brand but my Lynnwood store only carries regular size cartridges in the combo pack. I print a lot and need the XL size of cartridge. And I am getting very tired of having to buy new cartridges when I upgrade my printer, instead of using the old printers now obsolete cartridges. I need to switch brands to more user friendly.

Bought this for backup ink to my current printer. HP makes it very easy to identify what cartridge you need, as well as simple plug-n-play installation when you need to swap them out. Happy that this comes with all three colors, instead of having to buy them separate. No complaints

Of course it is good- it is HP. But my new HP printer came with their new fangled thing where you don't ever have to buy ink again. When you get low, based on your usage, the printer automatically tells HP and they in turn send ink right to your door. And it really works. And the best part is that it is WAY cheaper than buying ink at the store. WAY cheaper.

I was hesitant to buy an alternative brand of ink because reviews are mixed and the ink either works or does not work. I had enough rewards points to bring the cost down of the HP ink, so it does the job it was designed to do. No complaints. It could be less expensive though.

This pack is adequate if your are not doing a lot of color printing. If you are doing a lot of color printing then get the XL pack. My store requires I order online for the XL pack but since I don't need this pack I am able to get what I need in store.

I have a problem with the way HP does their ink cartridges. They have started putting expiration dates on them. Sometimes I do not use all the ink in the cartridge but it quits working once the date has passed. It’s a waste of product and money. It does give good prints though.
