Setup was a breeze. It’s all done through the app but the process is over in a matter of minutes. As soon as I plugged my unit in and clicked “add printer” in the app the printer appeared and was ready to go. You’ll be waiting for the print tests and the alignment process to compete. The form factor has changed slightly from older budget printers but this is still relatively a small footprint. Printing is quick, at least for documents. The color is something of an eggshell white which is nice and modern. The process of scanning using the top lid, document feeder or apparel extremely convenient for anyone working from home. The ink cartridge type this unit uses are very small, I’m not entirely sure how many sheets these will print or how many more will an XL model add. This is an overall nice printer all around but there’s a few areas I need to mention. The top lid to scan pages has no locking mechanism. You just lift it till gravity takes ever and it stays there. A simple bump from the rear is close to enough force to send the lid closing on you. This might be of concern for users placing this on an island or a desk with foot traffic around it. The rear paper tray is finicky and loading paper doesn’t slide in all on its own. Most of the time you have to press it down into the printer for the feeder rolls to be able to grab it. The specifications connectivity section states USB 2.0. This is a Type B USB along the back of the printer. Not really to print off your flash drive. (This USB also isn’t included) (This last one is an entirely opinionated preference) The longer I use HP+, the less I like it. Going in with it the first time almost 2 years ago I didn’t see as many walled off features. Setting this up once more presented so many disclaimers. Opting out seemingly gives you a “dumb” printer.

Not for me it has no cable hookup from a laptop. only wifi capable. plus i found the cannon pixma 7020a far superior as it does so many more things and is a much better printer of blacks and color for $30.dollars more. you get what you pay for most of the time. i compare the 2 side by side.

      Hi, Ruby.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has produced prints of poor quality, and that the ink ran out so quickly. I can certainly see why those would be unwelcome surprises with a new device. I want you to understand what’s happening with the device and remedy the problem if one exists, so I’ll offer what I hope are helpful resources and information.

First, I recommend following the steps listed in a guide on our support site to improving print quality. Issues covered include blurred, faded or streaked prints, and color or black ink not printing properly – or at all. Find that guide here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_6189232-6189286-16

Next, I can’t say for certain what has happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges. If you’ve used only the cartridges that came with the printer, this could explain what you’re seeing – although I agree that running out after only a few prints seems suspect.

However, if you’ve installed replacement cartridges, the XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 100 to 120 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

Regardless, if the print quality problem persists – or you need further clarification or assistance with your printer’s ink use – I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number

This printer never worked reliably. It took hours to install (using Total Tech help). It worked a few times but every new time you tried to use it, it would be off line. The only way to get it back online was to crawl under the desk and unplug it and then plug it back in. I took it back two weeks later and bought a more expensive one that works fine.

Setup was not an issue, fax works via a mobile app no landline connection, copy works, scan works and rock solid wifi connection. HP website description…The HP DeskJet 4133e has the essential features you need to print basic color documents like recipes and forms. Print, copy and scan with ease, print from your phone, mobile fax and get easy setup. It includes the optional HP+ Smart Printing System that keeps itself up to date and ready to print from virtually anywhere at any time. The AirPrint works each and every time I need it too, that is a pleasure as many times iOS devices always seem to have to hunt and restart hunting for supposed AirPrint capable printers. Given the cost, this is exactly what students need given how tech savvy they are. The included free 6 months of ink with subscription service that you can terminate before the free 6 month offer is completed is a bonus. ADF is nice but only single side. Overall if you can get this printer on sale under $80, then great for students to print their b/w reports or other non color assignments. Also great as a home printer for non heavy printing of articles, recipes and other like items. If color printing is desired, good too but ink will get more costly naturally.

The printer paper feeding mechanism is very flimsy as the feeder tray will inadvertently slide down from time to time. Also there is no automatic duplexing for double sided printing at this price point. I don’t recommended this printer.
