    Good laptop despite being heavy

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14” laptop offers an overall good user experience. I got this particular machine because I wanted a dedicated travel laptop for internet browsing and checking emails on-the-go. Here are some features that stood out to me. SIZE & WEIGHT: The Dragonfly Pro is a good size and I like the small charger it comes with. I recommend this as an every-day, casual browsing laptop that sits in an office or a spot in a home. Considering it weighs 3.4 lbs, I might not use this as a travel laptop like I had planned. It’s a little heavy and not ideal in a backpack if you’re lugging it around a lot. If travel time is short and you don’t mind the weight, it’s still a good machine. But personally, it’s a little heavy to travel with for my liking. MEMORY: I find that 32GB RAM Memory is sufficient to handle a lot of Chrome tabs and video playback. I even did a little video editing with Clipchamp Video Editor. I assume this is because of the high-performance AMD Ryzen processor. Startup takes a little under 30 seconds. STORAGE: I mostly use external SSDs so 1TB is going to be plenty. I’m very content with that storage size. DEDICATED KEYS: The right-most column of the keyboard has 4 dedicated keys. The first 3 keys open up the “myHP” app, each to the 3 main menu items. The 4th key is a custom key that opens up any desired webpage, application, file or folder. The custom key is awesome! However, I find the custom key more beneficial than the 3 keys that go to the same app. I would prefer 3 custom keys and 1 myHP key to better utilize the space those keys are taking up. USB-C PORTS: This laptop has 3 ports. (1) standard USB-C port and (2) USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 for faster file transfer. Given the thickness of the laptop body, I’m surprised it doesn’t have more inputs like HDMI or an SD card slot. Still, I’m glad to have more than 2 ports so I can plug in multiple displays, devices, and hubs. ACTION KEYS F1-F12: The actions keys are pretty straight forward, but my favorite is definitely the quick access “screenshot” button! I wish all devices had that - I use it a lot. BATTERY: The charge has been great so far. I use this laptop for as little as 10 minutes, maybe up to 1 hour in a sitting and use it 1-2 times per day. I charged it once or twice in the last week and I’m at 49% right now. BACKLIT KEYBOARD: I prefer a keyboard backlight and I go with the lower of 2 brightness settings. It will turn off due to inactivity but when you’ve turned it on once (F4) it will come back on when you type again. DISPLAY: This 1920 x 1200 widescreen display is vivid and sharp. I watch plenty of video both from files or on the internet and the screen has been very crisp. The touch aspect is helpful too, sometimes I find myself trying to touch the screen on other laptops that don’t have that feature so I clearly like it! SCREEN BRIGHTNESS: I typically need lower brightness and I’m happy with the low end of this setting. Honestly, this is one of the most vital settings for me and my health. Overall, I do like this laptop but I wish it would weigh even half a pound less than it does. I think holding a laptop one-handed maxes out at around 3 lbs for me.

The HP Dragonfly Pro is an excellent premium portable laptop with plenty of power and battery life to spare. HP almost knock it out of the ballpark if it wasn’t for some minor missteps. For the most part, the Dragonfly Pro is well worth the admission price. Starting off with the style and build quality, HP has done a superb job by using premium quality materials with some style hints of another popular laptop. It’s a very nice-looking laptop with a subtle design. Not only does it look premium but it's feels premium too. Performance let’s just it’s plenty fast for 99% of the users out there unless you’re doing intensive tasks like video or graphics editing. The Ryzen 7736u is the perfect processor for this laptop. Not only is it fast but it’s also power efficient which translates to excellent battery life and cooler temps. This is actually my first Windows laptop that I can confidently say is almost good as Apple's offering. The cherry top to all of this is the Radeon 680m iGPU. It was the most powerful iGPU in the market until it got superseded by the Radeon 780m. To keep things moving along quickly, HP went with 6400mhz LPDDR5. All you need to know is this ram is very fast. Not only will this do wonders for your multi-tasking needs, but also help when it comes time to play your favorite pc games. Storage is also very fast. Power and speed is not something you will question with the HP Dragonfly Pro. As for the keyboard and touchpad, both are very good. The keys have a good amount of depth without feeling too soft. It’s not the best keyboard out there but not a terrible one either. The backlight does get plenty bright and it’s adjustable by 2 levels. The touchpad is actually a haptic one. The haptic feedback is decent but could use some improvement. Overall I think the majority of users will be satisfied with the keyboard and touchpad. As I mention earlier there are some missteps that HP took. The first one is the display. It’s a decent display by no means does this mean it’s a terrible one. The colors are excellent and it does get plenty bright for most environments, and last but not least it’s also a touchscreen. On a sunny day, you might struggle with it though. The issue is that plenty of laptops around this price point offer higher-resolution displays along with higher refresher rates. Even a higher bump to 1440p with a 120hz refresh rate would have made this display sweeter. To HP’s defense increasing the resolution and refresh rate does take a hit on battery life. Still would of prefer to have the option to turn them off, in situations I needed to preserve battery life. On to the second and that is port selection. You only get 3 USB C ports with the left ones being Thunderbolt 3 compatible. All 3 are capable of charging. The one that left my head scratching is the lack of a headphone port. It’s not a deal breaker but make sure to pick up some dongles since HP doesn’t include any. As for the final one, nothing is upgradeable. So do make sure you pick the right one for your type of workload. One feature that may stand out for those that aren’t tech-savvy is the My HP service. It’s 24/7 tech support that is available with the push of a button. HP does provide a trial, but there is a monthly fee if you want to keep the service. If you’re looking for a similar support system to an IT department, this service might be worth looking at. If it wasn’t for the screen and port selection this easily would have been a 5 out of 5 rating from me. Even with those small quirks the HP Dragonfly Pro still delivers a solid experience. It has more than enough power to handle most of your needs without sacrificing battery life. It’s the most balanced Windows laptop out there but instead of sacrificing power and battery, you get the best of both worlds.

Overall Thin and gorgeous laptop, exceptional quality built in. The HP Dragonfly is an ultralight magnesium chassis laptop with a rather rigid build. It houses a beautiful, 400 nits display, thin bezels, and long battery life. All while powered by an AMD Ryzen™ 7 7736U and 32 GB LPDDR5-6400 MHz RAM. This makes for a light and powerful machine. Features The Dragonfly Pro comes with one of the most comfortable laptop keyboards I've ever used on a portable. It's spacious, well laid out, and the keys have some type of grip to them. They've integrated security/privacy right into the keyboard. From dedicated mic and camera mute/disabling keys to a fingerprint reader. It comes with 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports and 1x USB Type-C. HP claims it can last up to 15 hours. While I do believe this to be accurate, I cannot confirm. My sporadic use-case has forced me to charge around the 12 hour mark. It supports fast charging, which is incredibly fast. The integrated speakers provide a rich audio experience, one of the best I've heard in recent times. This doesn't really sound like audio from a laptop, more closely to a Bluetooth speaker. There's 2 solid padding strips along the bottom from 1 side to the other. I've typically only seen these with aftermarket keyboards. The display is incredibly bright at peak brightness. Color tones are bright and vivid. Viewing a movie on this display confirmed it was fantastic. The touchscreen is quick and responsive. Pinching, swiping, and tapping had a fast reaction. A quick flick of the finger on any article proved to be smooth. The touchpad offers buttery smooth navigation controls. From pinching to 2 finger scrolling and WIndows 4 finger swipe. Unlike other touchpads, the Dragonfly comes packed with a tactile sensor. Clicking anywhere on the 3x5" touchpad registers as a left click. The bottom right, a space roughly 1x0.5" is reserved for a right click. Performance I ran several benchmarks here including opening 20 browser windows while playing a video file. The Dragonfly handled that admirably. Although it isn't meant to be used for games, I also gave that a try. From Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Ashes of the Singularity, Ghostrunner, and Genshin Impact. Everything ran perfectly fine with some changes to each game's graphics settings. The NVME scores 3549/3470 MB/s Read/Write with a PSEIB001TABBMC0 NVME drive. The firmware version on this seems to imply this to be an HP branded drive. Looking up this exact model returns no real results. Conclusion At the end of the day, this is a truly powerful productivity machine to take on the go. It's beautiful, built well, and incredibly light compared to size. This without a doubt is worth 5-stars.

Pros: -Amazing battery life, 13-15 hours for basic usage -Touchscreen with scratch resistant screen material -Compact, relatively lightweight, and durable -Fingerprint reader/facial recognition sign on -Backlit Keyboard (all except fingerprint reader key left of power button) -Powerful multitasking -Super bright display (anti reflective and decent to use in sun light, finger prints are not as noticeable on display after use) -Decent quality of sound -Vibrant color -USB Type-C and thunderbolt ports -Smooth trackpad -Quiet fans -Decent webcam Cons: -Only 2 levels for brightness setting on backlit keyboards, bright and medium. I would prefer a lower level when working in the dark. If you don't have the same preference then there shouldn't be an issue. -Windows 11 - I still prefer the days of Windows 7. Visually, Window 11 is beautiful and modern, functionally it has removed the good-old interface. -No headphone jack -Not a fan of the macro keys, they are not really useful to me and I don't need support at a touch of a button. This replaced my old recording studio laptop, the only downside that I have is that there isn't an audio jack for a headset so I'll have to use Bluetooth (ugh, there goes the latency) or invest in an external audio interface. My older laptop was having difficulty keeping up when layering multiple sound tracks. I didn't have any issues on the Dragonfly Pro, it handled the layers with ease and with quiet fans I don't have to worry about the proximity my external mic to the laptop. It's compact design makes it easy to lug around especially for karaoke night with friends. First few days, I was only using it for basic web browsing and Microsoft office. I didn't time it exactly but it seemed like the battery definitely held up for 13 or 15 hours. Fast charging with the usb-c 96watt charger. Colors are vibrant and true, perfect for photo editing. Great for on the go. I would like to see more port options, but overall satisfied with the performance of this little guy.

    Perfect size and features

I've been looking for a laptop that has a convenient size and respectable specs. Something I can take anywhere in my backpack and still feel that I have great features that allow me to do whatever I want or need to do. The HP Dragonfly Pro fits my lifestyle perfectly. This is a great machine with all the right features. For starters, it has a fantastic build. Even with a machine this thin, it has a very rigid and stable feel to it. The display doesn't flex like a lot of other machines I've used. And on top of that, it's a touchscreen display. The keyboard deck is huge. This is because of the unique overall size of the machine. The touch pad is likewise very large and easy to use. You never feel like you're going to run out of real estate for your fingers. The left and right integrated buttons are in the usual spots but are very easy to find, and give a very positive click when depressed. The touch pad is very solid and it's easy to get a solid click with minimal pressure. The keyboard itself has a great feel to it. The keys are relatively flat and require very minimal strokes to fully depress them. The characters on the keys are large and easy to read and to make it even easier, they're backlit as well. There are some specific keys that really shine on this layout. One is the power button, located next to the DEL key, it occupies a position on the top row in what is traditionally the function key row. Also in this row is a key that functions as the fingerprint reader. It works perfectly, and it's out of the way and not obvious. There's also a camera key that allows you to manually turn on or off the camera. This key also has an LED indicator on it to let you know the state of the camera. You'll also find a backlight button, the usual volume controls, transport controls and display brightness controls. There are also dedicated buttons for contacting HP support, and even a button you can assign to whatever app or web page you frequently like to use. As far as the specs are concerned, this machine has very impressive numbers. It starts with an AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series processor. This is a serious CPU that would work well in a gaming environment, but since this is not specifically a gaming machine, suffice to say it's competent enough to handle pretty much any business apps, photo apps or video apps you care to throw at it. With 32G of memory, you can really open as many apps as you need without worrying about a reduction in processing speed. This machine is also set up with a 1TB SSD to give you ample storage space and really fast access times. As I've mentioned, the display is a touchscreen. If there is one aspect that seems a bit lacking, it would be the mediocre AMD Radeon graphics card. The maximum resolution is 1920 x 1200. So, nothing really to brag about here, but for things like presentations, you really want a resolution that looks readable to everyone in the room. A higher resolution would not be beneficial in this instance because the text ends up being so small it's not readable. So for a machine like this, the resolution is completely appropriate. That being said, the display doesn't disappoint. Colors are rich and deep, and the overall quality is good (albeit a little on the anemic side with respect to resolution). So aside from the graphics, all the specs on this machine are stellar. And while you probably won't want to use it as a gaming rig (which it's not claiming to be), it is insanely competent at performing any other tasks you want to use it for. Charging is very quick and the battery life is really good. The charger is a nice compact wall charger with a USB-C port on it. The AC prongs fold in so you can stash it in a bag easily. The machine charges via any of the three USB-C ports, and it charges quite quickly. Using only battery power, this machine literally sips power. I kept checking the battery life I had left and was always surprised at how much remained. The sound system is by B&O and for those of you not familiar with Bang and Olufsen, they have been an impressive name in the audio industry for many years. These are quad speakers and the sound is really impressive. I played Blackhawk Down on Netflix and was really amazed at how spacious and rich the sound was. It's really crazy how full it sounded. For those who need video chat capabilities, this guy comes with an impressive 5M pixel camera. To round out the feature sheet, the unique size makes it extremely portable. The machine comes preloaded with Windows 11. I found the Dragonfly Pro an absolute pleasure to use. It has processing power to spare and the insane amount of RAM means you can pretty much run as many apps as you need to without a hit to processing speed. Really well done HP, this is exactly what I needed in a laptop.

Loving my new Dragonfly! Slim and very easy to set up. I've used so little of my storage thus far. Definitely recommend Microsoft Cloud and 100% install Norton. Norton's Vault has been great for saving and creating passwords. Also the Best Buy plan has been really helpful.

The HP Dragonfly Pro is an amazing laptop that combines power and portability thanks to an ultralight magnesium chassis, slim bezels, and a durable build. It's equipped with a 400 nits display for a bright, vivid viewing experience, and it runs on an AMD Ryzen 7 7736U processor paired with 32GB of DDR5-6400 MHz RAM for serious multitasking capabilities. The laptop also offers ample storage with it’s 1TB SSD and had decent connectivity with 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports and 1x USB Type-C port. The Dragonfly Pro has one of the most comfortable keyboard layouts I've ever used on a laptop, with key spacing that provides adequate grip without sacrificing typing accuracy or speed. It has integrated security measures like dedicated mic and camera muting/disabling keys as well as a fingerprint reader which is a nice plus. Battery life is impressive at up to 15 hours, although my own tests have revealed that 12 hours is more realistic under regular use. Fast charging helps make this even more convenient. The audio quality of the integrated speakers is surprisingly good too, with crisp sound that could easily rival small external Bluetooth speakers in terms of performance. The touchscreen is similarly responsive too, allowing for quick pinching, swiping, tapping, and flicking of articles with ease. Navigating through online content on the Dragonfly Pro is smooth sailing thanks to its sensitive touchpad with tactile feedback. I tested out several applications to see how it handled compared to other laptops; from the Microsoft Office suite to lightweight games, it handled everything I loaded it up with. The SSD drive sports multigigabit speeds and coupled with the generous amount high speed RAM and high performing, yet very efficient CPU, it allowed me to open almost infinite browser windows and applications simultaneously without any noticeable drops in performance whatsoever while streaming videos or music in the background concurrently! When comes to designing laptops within the Ultrabook category HP have always been ahead of the curve when focusing on both aesthetics & functionality; offering consumers sleek designs coupled with powerful hardware components capable of running several high end programs simultaneously without any hiccups whatsoever; making them one of my favorite brands when shopping around for portable devices. This model’s singular failure point would tend to be a lack of connectivity as the only connection options are the 2x Thunderbolt and 1x USB-C port. There’s no headphone jack, USB A jack, or HDMI jack. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed by how much HP has packed into their Dragonfly Pro model which makes it perfect for those who need something lightweight but powerful enough to manage their day-to-day tasks at home or at work efficiently and securely; all while looking great doing it! At first glance it may seem like a steep investment but after testing out its various features myself I can confidently say that if you're looking for an ultraportable machine then you should definitely consider investing in HP's latest offering – You won't regret it!

Like most consumers, I use computers for a variety of reasons. Therefore, I prefer my computers, whether desktop or portable, to be as versatile as possible. The HP Dragonfly “Pro” is a bit misleading to say the least. Design and naming should go together. The design and build quality of the Dragonfly Pro is among the best of any mobile computer I have ever used. The build quality is solid and has a very premium feel. Not a plastic or cheap feeling at all. In fact, I put the HP build quality up there with my “fruit” laptops. The chassis feels durable and rigid and it also looks and feels fantastic to the touch. It even does a good job of suppressing fingerprints being that it is a dark color scheme. The keyboard (minus the custom keys) is also very solid. I really like the lettering (font) on the keys as well as the backlit feature. They are clear, the font is thin but large and very easy to read at a glance. Typing is comfortable and effortless. All of the keys have minimal travel (which I prefer) and are an absolute pleasure to use. The trackpad is also a great size and very responsive in my tests. That said, the custom HP keys on the right side of the keyboard are a massive missed opportunity and frankly, I would rather not even have them. I for one, do not need a direct quick key to customer service, or support. Some consumers may like this feature, but for anyone that uses computers regularly or professionally, there is simply no need to waste valuable keyboard space on dedicated support keys, of which only ONE can be customized! This leads me back to the “Pro” name. Pro users do not need a quick key to support services. Pro users are just that, Pro users. I would much prefer HP trashing these keys and this idea in general, with the next version of the Dragonfly series. At least make the custom keys, ALL OF CUSTOM THE KEYS customizable to whatever the user prefers. While I do like how this machine looks and feels, I feel another opportunity was lost by only including three USB-C ports. Again, not very Pro. Where is my standard USB type A port? What if I want to easily use one of my HP printers? No HDMI or standard display port? What about using external monitors? What about a headphone jack? No! While USB-C is the current future, not including any variety in what peripherals can be used with this device is perplexing to say the least. Three USB-C ports and no other options, makes this offering even less Pro IMHO. I am guessing that they did this on purpose to make the laptop thinner and lighter, as a full size USB or HDMI port would make the bottom half a tad thicker to accommodate the larger inputs. I’ll take the extra weight to have the ports. Another thing I miss on computers these days is an SD card slot. I know you can use an adapter, but they are small and can be misplaced VERY easily. Being a photographer I would prefer to have the SD card slot, and even a micro SD slot (that would be crazy)! All of the ports that are missing would go a long way in making this a more “Pro” and versatile mobile computer. Let's talk about the display. These days everyone is used to looking at smartphones, tablets, etc. While I am happy this display is a touchscreen display, I feel like it is yet another failed opportunity to warrant the use of the name, Pro. These days, the screens people look at a high percentage of the time have way more pixel density than this display. If they want to use the term Pro, they might think about upping the display resolution to 4K. 1920x1200 is a tad better than full HD 1920x1080, but not much. Again, in a world of vivid and extremely pixel dense smart devices, this display feels like it was overlooked in the design process. This could have been to cut costs for the consumer, but again, having a true 4K screen would help this to be the “Pro” Dragonfly that the name suggests.. The sound by Bang & Olufsen is actually quite good being that the speakers are on the bottom. I find the sound to have a great dynamic range. I do wish the speakers could go a tad louder. This could be me though, as I’ve been a musician most of my life and have certainly had some hearing loss. Take that with a grain of salt for this reason alone. All of that said, I still very much enjoy using this laptop. It is responsive and feels solid. It looks great. The battery life is phenomenal in my use so far. It is a great mid-tier offering for those who don’t demand a lot of processing power for gaming or video editing. For basic everyday use, like browsing the internet, using office apps, watching YouTube, etc., this is almost perfect. In conclusion, a Pro level laptop with the word Pro in the name should give you more. More ports, more versatility, a better resolution screen, etc. As always, take your time when purchasing any tech device to be sure it fits your lifestyle. I have no doubt that this computer is perfect for some users. I urge you to go check one out in store and see for yourself! PROS: Excellent build quality Looks awesome Great backlit keyboard and trackpad Excellent battery life Good clear sound Responsive for general everyday use Having a touch screen is nice, it simply needs more resolution CONS: The screen needs more pixel density and resolution to be considered Pro The ports as discussed No SD / Micro SD The “custom” keys are not needed

This review is for the HP Dragonfly Pro 14 laptop with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB solid-state drive (SSD), and I must say that I was very I mpressed with its performance and features. This laptop is designed very well and is powerful. One of the things I like most of the HP Dragonfly Pro 14 is its sleek and lightweight design. Weighing just under 2.5 pounds, it is incredibly portable and easy to carry around, I run a small business and work out of my truck a lot so that is ideal for me. The build quality is excellent, with a durable magnesium alloy chassis that feels solid and well-made. It doesn’t feel like it is going to break easily getting thrown around the truck. Performance-wise, the Dragonfly Pro is a powerhouse. The with the Intel Core i7 processor and 32GB of RAM it can handle smooth multitasking and seamless performance. Whether you're working on spreadsheets, editing images, or running virtual machines, this laptop can handle it all. The 1TB SSD provides ample storage space for all your files, documents, and media. It not only offers fast boot times but also ensures quick file transfers and app loading times. This laptop also comes with a Thunderbolt 4 port, which allows for high-speed data transfer and supports external displays. So from my truck to my desk to take advantage of a bigger screen is seamless. The battery life has been outstanding. Making it the first week of lite use with out needing a charge. Overall, the HP Dragonfly Pro 14 with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD is a remarkable laptop that delivers good performance, and portability. Its sleek design, powerful hardware, impressive battery life, and features make it an excellent choice for professionals or students. While it may come with a higher price tag, the performance and features it offers make it worth the investment.

I picked this computer up to utilize as a secondary work computer. The numbers are solid with 1tb ssd and 32gb ram, amd ryzen 7 series chip and raedon graphics. It is an integrated video card, but it does fine for the occasional game. For work I use it for video conferencing mainly, but after hours I use it to record and burn cd's and dvd's, I also do have Forza 5 and Beam NG On here so far and all play really well. The sound us solid with B&O surround speakers. Video is acceptable and the mic pics up clearly and having a central mic mute is hanfy. I'm used to my 15inch and 17 inch laptop keyboards, this seems a little small, and I like the idea of the built in help button but also when I get to using it regularly, I'm afraid I will bump it often. As mentioned, I usually have this to the side streaming video. That being said, I may end up syncing it with my multi computer keyboard to simplify my set up and swap out the other computer I use. The build and feel on this is solid, the texture metal is not slick, also has less fingerprint marks than my other metal computer. Speaking of finger prints, It does have a fingerprint reader, I set it up only to see it work, but turned it back off, just don't need it on, but it worked. The screen has very good contrast and and is wgxga ips, 400 nits is fairly bright for a computer. I like the 3 usbc ports, but i'd of liked a standard usb port for my cd rom, i had to get a usbc hub to work with. I have one that i can hook ethernet to also so i csn garuntee a solid connection, but the wifi works well also. So far I feel this is a solid investment and will hopefully stay updateable for many years to come.

Out the box the first thing I noticed is how slim, compact and lightweight it is. Feels very imacish. Pop it open and you notice the wide keys, large TouchPad, 3 usb-c ports, the textured finish, and shortcut keys. Fire it up and get through the setup. Backlit keyboard activates with a key on the keyboard. Seems to dissipate heat pretty well and stay cool no matter the task. Evidently the HP and AMD jointly designed laptop monitors the environment and usage needs to control the performance and power of the laptop, pretty cool! Charges up quickly and runs all day. Put it to work with documents, email, virtual meetings, TV and news watching and a little gaming at the wind down. Had about 20 percent of battery left at the end of the day. Did I mention the HDR screen is beautiful, and touchscreen? The 24hr support button is pretty slick but also makes me wonder how reliable it will be haha. I removed a star for the lack of ports, it's the only downside of this little guy. An SD slot could of fit just fine somewhere on the chassis.

The HP Dragonfly Pro 14 inch laptop is a new product in HP’s consumer lineup aimed at Freelancers and self-employed professionals. It is intended to compare with the likes of Dell’s XPS line and Apple’s 14” MacBook Pro. Not to be confused with HP’s much more expensive Elite Dragonfly line, the Dragonfly Pro is aimed at what I would consider a Prosumer market. There are three versions of the Dragonfly Pro - a Chromebook and two iterations of the AMD Windows 11 home models with the only difference being 16GB Ram/512GB storage and 32GB ram/1TB storage. You get your choice of Sparkling Black or Ceramic White. This review is for the 32/1TB Sparkling Black model. The Windows versions come with an AMD Ryzen 7 7736U chip and integrated Radeon 680M graphics. For comparison, the comparative Intel chip is the Intel Core i7-1360P. The 14 inch touch screen display has a native resolution of 1920x1200 (16x10) giving a little more real estate on the top and bottom than 16x9 screens. Unfortunately, the glossy screen is quite reflective, even in a somewhat dim room with no direct light. While the screen is bright and crisp and adequate for the screen size, it does not look as good as my 14” MacBook Pro. At the top of the display is a 5MP selfie camera and microphone array. The HP X Camera application provides options for changing camera resolution, enhancements and backgrounds similar to what you would find in Microsoft Teams along with the ability to connect multiple cameras. It also adds camera panning to keep you in focus for your video calls. The camera image is above average and worked well during teams meetings. The microphones also were decent at reducing background noise and focusing on my voice. There is no physical camera cover but there are camera and microphone mute keyboard keys to turn each off and on if you are so inclined. Sound comes at you via quad stereo speakers by Bang & Olufsen. The myHP app gives you some control of the output including bass, treble and width. Mids and highs are well pronounced but as expected, bass is well, laptop bass. I spent quite some time comparing it to my MacBook pro which in my opinion has the best sound in this space and found the Dragonfly to be almost as good. The backlit keyboard on the Dragonfly Pro is one of the better laptop keyboards I’ve used. The keys have a nice solid feel and short but satisfying travel. There are three levels of backlighting and you can choose via the bios to have a 30 second or 3 minute time out. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the backlight to remain on between restarts. The Dragonfly pro also comes in white but my past experience with white keyboards is that the backlight makes it very difficult to see the keys in any environment but a dark room. Now the elephant in the room about the keyboard is the four special keys on the far right. HP labels three of these myHP access, 24/7 Pro Live Support and HP SmartCam.These three keys summon different tabs on the myHP support app and the fourth is programmable. I don't hate having a dedicated support button but really HP? Three of them, and all going to the same app? Make them all programmable and let the customer decide. Otherwise, at least two of these keys are useless. I would imagine a quick software update could change this. Regarding support, HP gives you one year free with purchase then it turns to a subscription costing $11 per month to continue. Below the keyboard is a nicely sized haptic trackpad. Spoiled by Apple’s trackpads, I have to say this is probably the closest I've seen to it. For connectivity, the Dragonfly Pro comes with three USB-C ports. All three ports support charging and two of the ports support Thunderbolt 3. Wi-Fi 6 and bluetooth 5.2 round it out. Unfortunately, you do not get a headphone jack, SD card reader or USB A port. There also is no option for cellular connectivity - something I would expect on a device aimed at this demographic. The Dragonfly Pro has the best battery life I’ve seen in a windows laptop! I’m able to get a full work day and more from a charge. There is a small 96 watt brick charger and nice braided USB-C charging cord that will give you a 50% charge in just 30 minutes. I can also report that I was able to charge the laptop using a 20 watt PD phone charger. It took longer but it's nice to know that in a pinch you have options. Performance on the Dragonfly Pro was as expected for a mid-range/general use office laptop. All Microsoft Office products were snappy and without issue. Adobe Photoshop and Premiere worked but don't expect to edit feature length movies or color grade tons of photos on it. I had no issues with several simple 4K videos but heavy special effects and grading might make you miserable. The Dragonfly Pro does a decent job with heat. The fans only occasionally maxed out to the point of consciously hearing them, otherwise it's pretty quiet. One point to know is the fan intakes are on either side of the bottom of the device, right where it sits on my legs when using it from my recliner. A lap desk of sorts makes it better. Names matter. In the computer space, xxxxx-Pro sets expectations, especially when HP also has the Elite Dragonfly which costs more. Unfortunately, I just don't believe the Dragonfly Pro lives up to Pro competition. Don't misunderstand, this is a premium laptop and more than adequate for general everyday use and media consumption. Overall I give the HP Dragonfly Pro four stars. If a solid, well built Windows laptop with all-day plus battery life is what you need, right now, the HP Dragonfly Pro is the one to beat and I recommend it for those reasons. There is a reason however that PC makers compare to and try to beat Apple. Unfortunately, I have to say HP missed the mark with this one.

I have been using the new HP Dragonfly Pro for about two weeks now as my business machine. I own several Windows laptops and a 2021 MacBook Pro 16 as a basis of my comparison. Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way right from the get-go. The AMD processor/GPU combination in the machine is plenty powerful for most office/casual computing tasks. At no point was speed an issue for me as I ran multiple tabs of Edge and the Office suite of products simultaneously. It worked and it worked great for those tasks. The touchscreen display is bright and vivid with no flash lighting or weird back panel issues. It is a great balance of resolution and battery life savings since higher resolution panels generally come at the cost of battery life. After all, it is a 14" display so do you really need 4K? In all my usage I never once thought to myself that it needed more resolution. Battery life is commendable, but still doesn't touch my MacBook. I saw 8 hours on battery on average and the deep sleep functionality worked better than most Windows laptops I have used only losing a small percentage after long stretches of sleep. The keyboard and touch pad is responsive and well built. Keys are very tactile and typing felt assured. I had no issues with WiFi and speed was solid with my WiFi 6 router. The storage is fast, but not set the world on fire fast. There was clearly a choice of power savings over brute speed, but for office use it was great. Overall build quality is fantastic. HP has done a great job of making the laptop feel premium, but I think some of that quality does come at a cost of weight. It doesn't feel light given its size, but it is still very manageable and nothing like a full desktop replacement or gaming laptop. The only real caveat is that is you plan to do any gaming you might look elsewhere at this price. I dropped Assassin's Creed Valhalla on it and it struggled. Sure, you can turn the settings way down or even render at a lower resolution to get something acceptable out of it, but at native 1200p resolution with highest settings it barely cracked 20fps. This machine will not be confused as a modern gaming laptop, but it could work in a pinch for something casual. Overall, HP has done a nice job with this laptop, but I do think the price is excessive for what you are getting. I would certainly audition others though this model should be in the conversation. Battery life and size is why you want to consider this, but today there are many options to choose some of which are cheaper and even better built.

If you are looking for a solidly-built, touchscreen-enabled laptop that comes pretty close to matching what another company that rhymes with a particular fruit's laptops can do, this could be the device for you. To me, one of the most important parts of a laptop is the keyboard itself. These are not "chiclet"-styled keys; they are much more velvety, though not quite with the same touch as the fruit company's keyboards have. Next would be the overall performance. HP has installed Windows 11 Home Edition on this laptop, and the solid state drive's included RAM allows for exceptionally fast boot up and turn off, once you have engaged in that process at least once (I have noticed that Windows takes the time to prioritize what applications and services need to be included in the boot-up process, which is what allows for a much quicker turn-around time when opening the screen back up). I also appreciate that HP has included the latest in both wireless networking as well as Bluetooth connectivity -- there should be no issues from this laptop's perspective in terms of slowness there. The touchscreen is also great, though I have to wonder whether having a touchscreen for typical activities is really all it's cracked up to be. Unless you have specific applications that require a touch screen, it does mean removing a hand from the keyboard to get something done, then replacing your hand on the keyboard to move forward (as a command line-kind of guy, I prefer to keep both hands on the keyboard)! Overall, this is a solidly-built laptop that merits serious consideration, especially if you are in the market for a Windows-based device.

This is a wonderfully designed smaller form factor touch screen laptop. When I unboxed it I was first struck by how much this particular model looks like a certain apple product... which I'm not sure they were going for, and may be inadvertent, but in this case it's a compliment. There are a few bumps along the way that keep me from the 5 star review, but most of them aren't deal breakers unless you're seeking heavy computing power, or planning to use this laptop outside. Being one of the first laptops I've purchased with the newer AMD chip platform, I was seeking any reduction in performance from my work desktop machine to compare it to. This laptop was decently speedy with some noticeable drags in intense programs, but mostly not enough to push me back to a desktop computer. The battery life is quite good, and tries very hard to make up for any reduction in speed or graphics. Sporting AMDs newest GPU, I found graphics intensive tasks to balance out any CPU slow downs, as this sucker is quick! Places that I developed gripes included the lack of a headphone port, and the limit of 3 usb c ports. An interesting mix of some thunderbolt and some not, is interesting, but I appreciated that all 3 seem to charge. The inclusion of a usb-c to headphone adapter may have solved my woes with the missing jack. Heavy on the HP services in both the design and documents accompanying this laptop, there is a dedicated support key that will connect you with HP services that can be subscribed to. I found this to be a little buggy, and I'm not sure exactly who the target demographic is. Probably someone who is likely to bring a computer into a repair shop, to redirect them to HP instead, I can see this being very useful for. Truthfully I hope to NOT need support on a laptop right after setting it up, so perhaps the one month trial is a little short sighted. Lastly the screen is a little bit of a letdown. Both the resolution and brightness were less than I hoped for, and you might struggle to use this laptop in sunlit situations. Overall this laptop is well made, and delivers solid performance both CPU, GPU and memory. The few hardware quirks are more considerations than they are deal breakers, and I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for something in this size range, while understanding the caveats.

I'm a big fan of the thin and light laptops and was immediately a fan of this laptop. The Dragonfly is a very sleek and well polished laptop with plenty of bells and whistles to get anyone through a day of work. The laptops performance has been great. I'm by no means a power user and typically use laptops to browse the Web, watch Netflix, answer emails and work in G-Suite. I've seen absolutely no problems with any of my uses and the laptop performs at lightning speeds. The screen itself is ok, by no means is it the best display you will ever see, but it isn't terrible either. If that is a must have for you then you might be disappointed here. The build quality of this laptop feel great. It feels sturdy and well built, while staying thin and light. Definitely high end. My only issue with the build is the lack of headphone jack. While bluetooth is fine most of the time, i do like having a headphone jack too. Overall I'm very pleased with this laptop, it will do all the everyday functions lightning fast and it looks good too!

HP Dragonfly Pro 14 32GB/1TB Black The HP Dragonfly Pro is sleek and has a vibrant 14in touch screen display (1920x1200 60Hz) with a good feeling keyboard. It runs on an AMD Ryzen 7 7736U CPU with a AMD Radeon Integrated Graphics chip. This model had 32GB of RAM and a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD. The battery life is around 7-13 hrs. dependent on what you are doing, though the battery drains fast in sleep mode. At just over Three and a Half pounds it is light and the material has a good feel. Ports are lacking at having only 3 Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports. It has a venting strip between the two rubber feet on the bottom panel near the top. This can get quite warm under heavy use (my heat gun showed over 95F)or streaming and during long use. So, get a laptop cooler or you will be uncomfortable. I’m not a big fan of touchpads but this one is pretty good since it is a hepatic touchpad and doesn’t misread when I accidentally hit it while typing. The Bang & Olufsen speakers have good sound quality especially for a laptop with decent bass. The touch screen has good response, but I am disappointed they didn’t put in hinges to allow it to at least go flat and a have a small stylus to really take advantage of a machine directed at the hybrid worker. The text is a bit blurry and pixelated when viewed up close. The keyboard has extra keys on it for launching the MyHP app with one is configurable to launch your own choice. which in my opinion is a worthless waste of space. Give me a HOME, Page-up, Page-down and End keys instead. The MyHP App is slow and clunky. The keyboard is backlit and gives two levels of brightness. The webcam is a 5MP which is decent for video conferencing, but I would prefer a physical lens closure instead of just a electronic one. The power brick is quite nice and small with a USB-C braided cord which is a big plus. Some other things I feel that are worth mentioning is that the makings on the laptop are not done in a contrast so they just blend in. Might as well not have them if you aren’t going to make they readily visible. They include an initial sheet to show you where the power button and thumb print button plus base operation. Unfortunately, it is printed in kind of a light gray on the white paper which is hard to read – Just use black instead of trying to be artsy. I did have several instances when coming back from sleep mode that the fingerprint reader was not responsive and later came out with a ‘something went wrong’ error.
