This is my second Hp Envy laptop. Both have been excellent for the things I do on a computer. Lots of disc space for things like photos. Very fast. Love the lighted keyboard, switchable on/off. The one complaint I had on the first Envy was the flimsy hinges for the lid (screen) which eventually broke. The new one seems to have improved (stronger) hinges. All in all a great buy at the price.

I am partial to HP and find the Envy fulfills my needs for in home computer usage. I purchased one in 2016 and the hinges on the lid broke and it was necessary to send it in for repair. I was a bit unhappy about that issue but thankful I had the extended coverage when I purchased it giving me three years insurance. I decided to purchase another to take its place while it is being worked on. I am glad I did. This is a sleek and beautiful machine that is fast and set up with the needed programs I require to use. It is new yet but hopefully it will continue to function properly and give me needed support for all of my computer needs. It is reasonably priced and a good catch for the price paid. I am pleased with it thus far.

Let me say that if a utopia exists with a windows laptop, this is as close as you'll get to utopia. It isn't cheap, nor is it perfect. But, it does a tremendous job at being a tablet and a laptop. I found the features to be not only plentiful, but all working very well. A great backlit keyboard, a trackpad that rivals a MacBook (as well as could be expected), a bright and full size screen with amazing graphics, super fast processor, and plenty of memory and hard drive space with a hybrid system to speed processing. There was only one issue I had with mine which was it shut down 2x by itself and with no explanation. I could not fathom spending the money on a Windows laptop unless it was perfect. It might have been a fluke, or maybe I was activating some hidden shutdown keystrokes, but it wasn't an organized shutdown, it was a lights out completely off instantly, and for no apparent reason. As for design, the only thing I didn't like was that the hinges kind of get in the way as you open the screen, meaning they act like a lift and push the lower part of the laptop into the air, on the hinges. And I don't know why. Very strange design concept. But since it converts to a tablet, this might have something to do with it. But, if you want/need a top notch windows laptop, I'd highly recommend this - the 17" screen is as good as it gets, and the speed is 100% amazing!

I usually buy laptops that are geared for gamers. I'm not a gamer but always liked the higher end specs as my desktop replacement. I thought that getting a laptop for less money and with lesser specs would feel like a downgrade. To my surprise, this laptop feels like an upgrade in every way. This computer is thinner and sturdier feeling than the other large screen laptops I've owned. The power supply is much more compact and lighter than any of my past laptops. The Cortana guided setup was the fastest and easiest initial computer setup I've ever done. Transferring files on a thumb drive I found that the USB SS ports are actually very fast. Every batch I transferred via thumb drive stayed above 100 mbs for the entire transfer. The touch pad is a cut above my current laptops touchpad. The fans are much quieter than the last few laptops I've owned and seem to turn on less often and stay on for shorter periods. I can make it through my typical day without the power adapter being plugged in. I'ven't owned a touch screen laptop before and am still getting used to it. At this point using touch on a vertical screen is still kind of awkward. A minor annoyance is the way that the screen hinges. The bottom of the screen, when open, lifts the back of the computer up a bit which is nice when sitting on a desk but when I sit with it in my lap the bottom edge of the screen and corners can be a bit uncomfortable. So far, I've found this to be a much nicer laptop than the less than two year similar one that it replaces at about 1/3 less in price. I've found nothing not to like about this laptop!

This laptop is massive. Not only has it got a 17 I no Darren but, it packs an mx150 graphics card, 12 gb of RAM, a 1 TB, AND a Blu Ray drive. Yes this laptop has a disk drive, something most laptops have ditched these days. Because of all of this hardware, this is a thick and have laptop. And because of the way the hinge works and the weight, it's honestly pretty uncomfortable to use in your lap. The back edge really digs into your legs. But, it works great on a deal! The 8th gen i7, 12 gb RAM, and MX150 graphics card have been able to push all the stuff I've thrown at it, granted it's mostly spreadsheets, email, YouTube, browsing, etc. I'ven't noticed any slow down. But, I wouldn't expect this graphics card to be able to play games on ultra hi def if you plan to game on it. It's definitely on the lower end of graphics cards. The screen is bright and cross. It's really the best part about this laptop. I've never owned a laptop this big and I really don't want to use one with a smaller screen ever again. The keyboard toes well and the backlight stays on as long as you want which isn't the case on some laptops. Battery life is about as advertised, I'ven't had any trouble getting through the day with it. There are a ton of ports, USB, USB C, HDMI, you name it, you'll have them all here. My only other complaint about this laptop is the finger print reader. It's in a word document in the side of the laptop and honestly doesn't work well. I've never got it to work on the first try and most of the time it doesn't work at all. Overall, it's a great laptop for people that want a huge screen if you can compromise with a not so great experience in the lap.
