Trouble with gaming

Recently, I have been running into an issue where playing Valorant is laggy. I did not have this problem when I first got the laptop and I do not know why the game suddenly starts lagging (the game is unplayable now). I've checked my task manager to see if anything was running in the backround and nothing is. Other than that, the laptop works.

HP Envy 2-In-1 14" Full HD Touch-ScreenLaptop

I chose it because of the 16GB memory, 1TB SSD, as my last two laptops always had issues with just 8GB memory. The fact this was on sale also sealed the deal.
