Overall enjoyed this Laptop! However, overtime, I wished that I had purchased a laptop with a backlight option for the keyboard for working in dimmer spaces. Additionally, I purchased this item specifically for college course work, which it worked perfectly for.
I also own a photography company & wanted to use this Laptop for photo-editing, through Adobe Lightroom. This Laptop was not fast enough to keep up with the high volume of photos I needed to edit & had a very short battery life, which I've noticed is a characteristic of all HP laptops.
Overall, a good laptop for school work or rudimentary work like drafting documents, emailing, office work, etc.
For work that requires faster processing speed, longer battery life, or backlight on a keyboard - this is not it.

The first unit I recieved completely stopped working after less than a single day of use. I ended up exchanging it for a another unit and the one I have now works perfectly with no issues. Overall, it’s a great product for the price but be aware of possible quality control issues.

My New Computer is too busy for me.

The computer is constantly busy updating which often interferes with web browsing. After a long update the computer developed a problem where all windows opened on the computer do not fill the monitor screen. After contacting HP support to fix this problem I was informed I would have to pay for additional HP support to fix this problem since it is a software problem not covered under warranty. I hope to return this computer to Best Buy for a partial refund.

Love my Envy! I've had several comments on it from coworkers about how nice it is. I love the screen size, the functionality, and the sleek slim design. It weighs so little and travels well between the office and home. The touchscreen feature is helpful when I don't have a mouse with me. The processing speed is great, it is very quick. I use a cloud storage for versatility between the office and home, but it handles downloads and uploads seamlessly. The Bluetooth connectivity is great too. I have downloaded several useful apps and run Microsoft 365 with no problems. It could use another USB port or two, but I have a portable USB dock with extra ports and it works good. I do not play games of any kind, so I can't recommend it for that, but I highly recommend it for office and home. Screen size is great. Battery life lasts 12+ hours with me running Microsoft 365, the internet, and other apps at the same time.

I bought this as a replacement for my wife's older dell laptop that was on its way out. All of the more specific functionality (built in camera privacy shutter, full range hinge, touch screen, premium audio, fingerprint scanner) works really well. The all aluminum case feels nice and sturdy and lends it a more premium feel. I was skeptical of the hinge since the screen can be folded all the way back but it feels very solid. The m.2 ssd gives a sub 10 second boot time which, paired with the new ryzen 5 5000 series cpu makes the laptop feel very fast. The battery life has been great so far, she's only actually needed to charge it twice now. I would recommend to anyone looking for laptop that can handle general workloads, streaming, and some light esports style gaming.

I switched to this laptop after I needed an upgrade from my 2017 MacBook. They're completely different, hard to compare. But it runs on Microsoft, great OS. Works good for smaller games. I usually use it for schoolwork whenever I'm traveling, or not at home to use the computer. It works great as an everyday laptop. The battery life could be a bit better, it probably lasts about 10 hours off charge when doing regular work, but only about 3 hours when playing certain games.

Works well, need some time to get used to the differences between HP & Dell. Don't like the on off button placement.
Can't move icons??? Like the screen and sound quality.
Like the lighted keyboard. Like battery power. Good light weight.
Color is good and size is perfect. Over all I'm quite satisfied with the laptop.

I bought this like a few days ago. I can say it runs smooth, the audio is perfect literally, and the battery life is good. It has fast charging. Another thing I like is the tablet mode the screen feels great and overall the quality of the keyboard and the screen are great. The one thing I did noticed was the fan. It’s a little loud but honestly it shouldn’t be a problem you can’t even hear it if there is regular background noise only when it’s silent but then it’s just a little loud. I haven’t done heavy gaming on it just some light games those run very smooth as well. Would recommend if you are a collage student.

A comfortable average

-Physical and Aesthetic-
This is a nice looking laptop with comfortable and effective keyboard and trackpad. Though I have metal laptops as well, I prefer a plastic chassis like this one has as I find it more comfortable to my palms (and legs if wearing shorts). Despite being plastic, nothing looks or feels cheap. I actually quite like this keyboard. There is nothing special about it but there is nothing at all distracting or oddly placed.
-Display-
This display is matte, and the colors a bit dull. This is not bad and rather common in modern laptops but if you are a fan of mac displays, samsung TVs, i.e. rich and saturated colors, you will find this display to be washed out. Brightness is more than adequate. As I sit in my brightly-lit living room typing this review, I have it at about 70%.
-Performance-
I'm impressed with the snappiness of this machine. It is a bit sluggish coming out of sleep but otherwise I haven't had to wait a moment for a web page to load, to switch between apps, open a file, etc.
-Minor Annoyance-
This could be attributable to Windows or even just the machine catching up on updates behind the scenes (I've had it for a day) but when the machine wakes from sleep, the wifi doesn't consistently connect. I've had to either wait about 30 seconds or go as far as reboot to get it established again.
For my money, I feel like the value of this laptop is just right. The quality characteristics are perfectly inline with $800.
About me: career IT and software developer, and a mac.

Got this for my boyfriend

I got this for my boyfriend, He’s a photographer and gamer and I wanted to get him something that has good graphics and would render his photos well, as well as have fast enough RAM and enough SSD storage so he could play some games and store some pictures on the go. As far as heaviness, it is a little heavy but were not planning on lugging it across country on our back, so its fine enough for a walk through an airport or something. For graphics, I personally think its screen is amazingly smooth and saturated and crisp. The pictures and videos look really great, and I would say the upgraded AMD Ryzen 5 graphics card really plays exceptionally in this computer and has numerous benefits for gamers and photo editors alike. For battery life, i havent had it long enough to determine how it lasts in a long-term setting, but so far it only need a charge once or twice a day with moderate to heavy usage. One plus I find really positive about this computer is that it has backlit keys, and that feature alone makes this laptop omit a high-end feeling, giving the impression that this laptop could easily exceed 1,000$ or more. The pricepoint for this Laptop is quite fair and you cant beat it for 699$. If you are considering a laptop for the same reasons, and are trying to spend less than 800$ for a setup, I would say this is for you. One downside I have seen so far is that in the very corners of the screen, the touchscreen does not render and that can be annoying if you are trying to close a page with the ‘X’ in the far right corner. Other than that, its great.
