Replaced a 2 year old Lenovo. Great build quality. Great display for my use (preparing lessons with MS Office, web browsing, etc.). For educational use, all software I use (typical teacher) performance is excellent. I also like the display size and ratio.

So I'll be the second reviewer on here to say that I had a faulty display out of the box. There was a few defective pixels on the right hand side of the display. Ended up exchanging and getting a different product from another brand. I really wanted to like this laptop, it feels very nice. It looks very nice, and amazing battery life compared to previous laptops I've had. I'm not usually one to buy a product that's meant for "the average consumer" because I'm more of a tech savvy kind of person that enjoys faster computers. The reason I bought this was because I was going to be starting college online while I work full time and I needed something portable, with good battery life that would be exclusively for my academic journey. The Processor is running Intel's latest processor architecture (this would be 14th gen in relation to the Core i Branding) which has taken large strides in efficiency while largely being close in performance. Shopping around you may see "Core 7" and "Core 5" processors, this is Intel's method of renaming 13th gen. AMD did something similar last year, Intel took the bait and did it themselves The display, outside of the faulty pixels previously mentioned, was such a nice screen. It sort of changed my feelings towards glossy screens. Back to the topic of HP though, between HP's murky past with all of their hinge designs and them being unreliable (prone to failure) and the out of the box defect (comical odds the one I get is a bit of a dud). So, while emotionally. This laptop appealed to me greatly from the way it looked and felt, just logically I couldn't in good faith take another chance on it like that. I find it regrettable that HP's track record with hinge reliability and current status of the quality control their vendor or manufacturers have is pretty poor, and because of that I would not in good faith be able to recommend most of HP's laptops. This isn't to say I'd steer hard away from HP laptops period. They have a few products that pique my personal interest for hobbyist reasons. However, for a regular consumer. I'd highly suggest looking at other brands.
