Tried to set up with directions but could not due called HP and talked to a tech, it took him 2/1/2 hours to get done. It works well now. Cost me 429.00. I guess at 99$ was not a very good deal

    Big Brother Big Brother!

Bought this printer last year because I have previously liked HP and needed a new device. This one came with a $20 credit towards ink cartridge shipping right to my door. Awesome! You choose how much you print and they charge accordingly per month. What I did not realize was that the ink cartridges have chips in them, in part to allow the system to report to HP when cartridges are getting low. Sounds great! But when that $20 runs out, and if you decide not to continue with the subscription, guess what! They shut down your ink cartridges remotely. You can no longer use your printer. I called and cancelled my subscription because this was extremely unsettling to me and I wanted no part in it. The rep was patient but disinterested and informed me that I can simply change out the cartridges with plain ones from the store. I intend to try this and will keep the printer because it prints fine and I don't want to go through another setup. But for those of you looking for a new printer, be forewarned and educate yourself on the subscription before you dive in.

I had and still having trouble getting it set up. I don't like that it shuts off and you have to turn it on so it will print. I'm upstairs and the printer downstairs. So unhandy!

This is the 2nd one of these printers I've had. The first one I had lasted for along time. I still had new ink for it when it wore out so I decided to buy the same printer again. It was a good printer so I didn't think twice about buying the same model again

I always enjoy HP printers. To me there rock solid when it comes to reliability. The prints on this printer are nice! There are other Mfg that focus more on pictures verses documents. To me, this brings a balance of both. Good price as well as producing nice prints!

Five stars for the printer but zero stars for not listing this item as a discontinued item. My last HP Printer, an 8630, was purchased in 2015! Owned years before discontinued. Not certain how long service (insta-ink) will be available.

    Bad on ink.

I have to rate this printer as fair. I go through ink like crazy. My Canon printed a lit more pages without going though so much ink. I dont like the Printer Interface online or the application. I an used to running the cleaner and ink check straight from my printer menu in my Control Panel. I am going through more ink now. I didn't sign up with the ink program because of that reviews I read elsewhere online that they will lock your printer up and you won't be able to insert a new ink cartridge unless you call them to cancel. Subscription. I was willing to give HP Printers a try after a few years and for graphic design and saving ink. It just wastes ink.

    Serious Reliability Issues

I bought this printer. Print quality was decent then alignment problems began and color printer was poor. Alignment kept getting worse and then completely failed. It died early in life - halfway through the second set of ink cartridges. Very disappointed in this printer.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer developed an alignment problem so soon after you got it running. It’s no surprise you’re frustrated by this, especially considering you were initially pleased with the print quality but the alignment issue got progressively worse. I want to help you resolve this situation, so I’ll provide a resource and some information aimed at making that happen.

I can’t tell from your review what’s causing the alignment problem or whether a remedy exists. I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:
