    Good Printer, Bad Installation Instructions

The poor installation instructions are why I gave this printer only four stars. Since I completed the installation, the only difficulty encountered is that it sometimes fails to wake up from the "sleep mode," but that problem is easily remedied by tapping the on button again.

Easy to install for average person, wish it came with a manual for some of the picture capabilities as I don't have a clue how to use it.

Setup instructions are pretty much pathetic, lot of pictures, not much written. HP gave me wrong setup instructions. Never did found out where to download app to smartphone so never d/l picture to printer. Never did connect wifi to anything. One positive is that there is only two ink cartridge to replace. Returned.

      Hey there,

I'm really sorry to hear that the instructions you received didn't provide you with much guidance. This must've been quite disappointing, and I assure you that this is not at all the printer experience that we aim for.

For future reference, we're always here to help during and after the setup process. With that said, I hope that you'll allow us an opportunity in the future to help you find a printer that better suits your printing needs. We would love a chance to make things right with the quality experience that we intended on providing from the start.

The wireless printer works perfectly with good output. Had to call HP, though, to install wireless as instructions were not sufficient.

Had to use my HP tech support to set the printer up. The HP web site instructions were confusing to me. Like the printer very much. The technician disabled a Microsoft feature where a pop up would continually slide over with a chime every time you use the scan feature letting you know you're using the scan feature. I have to call them back and have them disable it for the printer and fax. The features of the machine I like. The auto feed tray is a defining plus for scanning and or faxing multiple pages.

    Terrible product, terrible instructions

HP is more interested in selling printer ink than quality printers. The set up instructions are terrible and the online help literally consists of hawking the HP printer ink program. The touch screen is not meant for fingers. Touched English and it went to Spanish. It took an hour to correct because there is no screen option to go back and re-select. Tried the on-line HP set up to correct and it kept coming back that it was unsuccessful and to use the printer touch pad. Which by the way was in Spanish. One problem after another in the set up. The computer would not recognize it in the network. Back to the sensitive small screen touch pad. When I finally connected to the internet the test print page would not. The error message was the picture paper tray was not properly set . After several attempts to correct I had had enough. Out of frustration I literally tossed it into a garbage container. Its landing resulted in an un-returnable product. Before destroying it I should have thought about the $129 I wasted . Oh well. This would have been my 3rd HP printer and I should have know better. Never again.

Had great assistance at Best Buy store to select this printer. Downloaded the recommended HP Smart software to set up printer. Was very easy, but discovered that the Scan function on touchscreen did not work. Could scan from computer as a work around. Called HP support and received excellent service. The tech informed me that it is much better to download the complete software for the printer, and that is the only way to enable the scan function on the touchscreen. I gave him access to my computer and he did it all for me. After the download and installation, he made sure everything was working the way it should. I feel that HP did not make it clear in their online instructions as to what software should be downloaded in order to have all of the printer capabilities. Printer is working great now.

This printer was easy to set up with IPad. I must have been missing instructions on setup though. No quick setup or instructions in owners manualI received with printer. You basically need to turn printer on, and it walks you through the steps. Would have given printer 5 stars if I would have received instructions. No where does it tell you to turn on printer for instructions to setup the printer. Once you turn on printer, it gives you a website to go to. Once you go to web site download app. The setup is simple. This is a great quality printer. Wanted to give it 5 stars, except only gave 4 because of lack of instructions
