Very good quality; printer tray cumbersome!

Printer has document and photo trays. Quality for either is above average. Task-selection screen on front is small and selections slide past view to select task (not favorable). Both paper trays slide out at same time and does not lend to convenient loading. Catchment slide for finished printing must be retracted to access loading tray; automatically reappears with printing (not favorable).

The photos and letters both are high quality print. My only issue was the printer would not recognize the photo paper tray as being full, It kept giving me an error message that it was empty . I returned it for another machine and its working great!

Easy printer to set up. Only 2 ink cartridges to contend with. Paper tray is not the easiest to load.

This printer was easy to set up. The print quality is great. The 2 hang ups are that I can't manage to have it scan to USB and paper tray doesn't hold much paper. I would still recommend for home use.

Ink like all other printers is to expensive even on this printer. There was no CD to install and miss the selection choice when printing. Paper tray is a bit awkward to open. Prefer not to use tri color cartridges.

I purchased this printer when my old Photosmart died. This one is not quite as vibrant but good enough for most jobs. It is VERY loud when printing - I think in part due to the tray that extends when you print. Overall - it does the job.

    Paper Feed Hardware Problems

If the printer actually functioned, I would assume it would be great. However, after opening the box and removing the usual packaging film and going through the alignment process the feed rollers simply will not feed paper through properly if at all. The best case scenario I can hope for after wasting 6-10 sheets of paper is a slightly diagonal print on 8.5x11 with the paper crumpled up at the bottom. I've followed the troubleshooting steps, removed the feed tray, etc etc to no avail. The rollers are clean since they're fresh out of box, there are no scraps of paper left from the 30-40 sheets of shredded paper I've wasted trying to print a simple document, the roller arm is likely misaligned from factory.

I decided to change out from the normally suggested Epson because I seemed to always be cleaning heads for readable black print. I like the quality. I like not having 4-5 different color cartridges to 'balance' since only one color and one black cartridge are needed. Only concern is the paper tray is hard to get to and after loading sometimes paper isn't recognized and copier gives an erroneous 'out of paper' message. All in all, I'm happy so far.

This is a great home printer for documents and photos. I've had a few connectivity issues with it. Sometimes it goes into sleep mode and even if I wake it up, my devices won't be able to find it so I'll have to turn it off completely and then turn it back on in order to print. There was another issue where it wouldn't detect photo paper in the tray, but I unplugged it and solved the issue. They're minor inconveniences, but they're quickly solved and don't take away from the fact that it does it's job, and it does it well.

This was a nice looking printer and the print quality was good. But only when it would accept the fact that the paper tray was closed and loaded with paper. With every print session, regardless of how much paper was in the tray, the printer would return an error at the start claiming that the paper tray was either open or had no paper in it. Each time, I had to open the tray and close it again in order to get it to print. An online search revealed that other people had the same issue with this model. I returned and exchanged for another model, HP ENVY Photo 6255. Haven't had any issues with that one.

Overall I gave a 4 star rating. Prints very clear pages. The color photos are great. The only disappointment is the tray that holds the photo paper does not handle 8 x 10. Also the screen again no 8x10. . I had to put 8x10 photo paper in the regular paper tray and send the photo from my computer as a regular print job not from a flash drive using the photo setting on the printer.

    Terrible product, terrible instructions

    Posted

HP is more interested in selling printer ink than quality printers. The set up instructions are terrible and the online help literally consists of hawking the HP printer ink program. The touch screen is not meant for fingers. Touched English and it went to Spanish. It took an hour to correct because there is no screen option to go back and re-select. Tried the on-line HP set up to correct and it kept coming back that it was unsuccessful and to use the printer touch pad. Which by the way was in Spanish. One problem after another in the set up. The computer would not recognize it in the network. Back to the sensitive small screen touch pad. When I finally connected to the internet the test print page would not. The error message was the picture paper tray was not properly set . After several attempts to correct I had had enough. Out of frustration I literally tossed it into a garbage container. Its landing resulted in an un-returnable product. Before destroying it I should have thought about the $129 I wasted . Oh well. This would have been my 3rd HP printer and I should have know better. Never again.

Although my overall impression of this over-hyped printer is lukewarm at best, it does have its benefits that are briefly listed below: -Very easy set up, 10 minutes max. -Control and panel display are very useful and easy to maneuver. -Apps are superfluous but fun, especially if you have little ones you need to entertain. -Prints very quickly. -USB and SIM ports are tucked away but accessible, and are covered with a small flap to keep away dust and other particles. The cons are the reasons I'm returning it today, after 2 weeks of use: -my main issue is print quality. I like to use purchased items for a couple of weeks before I decide if they're keepers. This isn't. The docs I've printed are DULL-at first I thought the paper may have been a factor, but I specifically bought HP printer paper that the salesperson highly recommended for quality document printing, but it didn't matter. I've printed about 20 pages because I also thought the ink needed time to adjust. Still, the letters were dull in both, black and color. -The quality of photos were horrendous. I've never had a printer that printed such cheap looking pictures. I printed two 8x10 photos of shots in Ireland. The clouds ended up gray, literally, the mountains looked muddy, the water, almost black. It should have been a dark blue, as shown in the picture I actually took and on my monitor where I printed it from. In addition, there were faint but visible quadratic lines all over the page. This too was printed on HP photo paper, so I'm not sure if that came from the printer or paper. -scans are also light colored once transferred to computer. My other printers didn't scan so faintly. I could barely see the text. Other reasons for disliking the piece weren't a big deal, but annoying. Had the machine printed well, I could have handled its quirks: -It's just loud. -It's bulky and looks outdated. -Too many adjustments for paper trays. -The structure just feels cheap. The material on son's toys are far more solid. Again, the quality on regular and paper prints was beyond sub-par. I'll try a different HP model after returning this one, but if I get the same result I'm going with a different brand. Initially, I was so excited to buy this expensive (for me) thing, so my disappointment is a total. bummer.

I got the HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer, and right out of the box, it comes with about (4) 4x6 photo papers and a black ink cartridge and a color ink cartridge. Eager to test out the true quality, I downloaded some very high definition jungle scene to show vibrant colors and sharp details. Oh it picked it up nicely, and didn't take as long as I thought it would. The 8 1/2 x 11 paper tray doesn't hold many pages, but if this is ONLY for photos, then I don't need to store many in there. It has many cool features, like print from SD card (which was very full and it wouldn't even pull up the photos from my DSLR camera. That's not very good. I was waiting and waiting and it never loaded. I tried to set up my email and have it scan and send to it, but I kept getting an error message "Server error: The printer couldn't connect to the web services. The server might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." My wifi was connected quickly, and was actually easy to set up. It connected to my phone via Bluetooth and it pulled the wifi connection settings that way. Pretty slick, actually. I'm able to print from my phone, and grab image from Facebook. Very convenient. There is an HP app (HP Smart) on Google Play. That connects to the printer via WiFi or Bluetooth. I can also print to this printer from outside my house. Not sure how often I would, but I could print a photo and have it ready when I come home. There are some apps like access to my Google Drive, within the printer, that you can use too. Unfortunately I couldn't connect to any. The scanner was really good. I put in a store printed photo, and did a scan of it, and it turned out very nicely. In the glare of the photo, I could see different levels of black/grey in the inkjet printed photo vs the store printed photo, but I have never seen a photo inkjet printer not do that. Overall, I was impressed. My specific printer has connection issues, but after trying it again several days later, still the same result. I'll have to exchange it for a different one, as I'm excited to use the apps and email myself scanned files.

This printer has it all for a home unit! I've gone through quite a few printers in the past as it seems these days that ink is the same price as the printer itself... but HP appears to be trying to change that. Setup: This thing is a slides out of the box all ready to go, after removing tape from a few places, including inside the paper tray, and loading it. Ink goes in easy and is quite self explanatory. Hp's new app based setup worked wonderfully, and I was able to get the printer connected to my wifi with zero issues from the touch screen. I appreciated that the app based setup gave me multiple options from my computer as to installing the full feature driver or the basic feature driver, as well as installing an OCR suite for recognizing text in scans. Gettin the app setup and running was easy once the printer was connected and it found my printer right away. Print Quality: the print quality coming out of this machine rivals what I've got for color laser at work, and the photo quality was spot on. All my test prints blew me away with color. Ink: The idea of HPs Instant Ink is intriguing to me. Consider it something like Subscribe and Save but for printer ink. You get a deal on your ink if you set up an account and let the printer order it for you You choose the duty cycle (how many pages you print a month on average) and when you reach 2x your duty cycle left in the ink cartridge, it will order more. Now for those of use that print one coupon a month and then ALL of your christmas cards in November. . this might not be the best option, but for someone who prints more regularly than this, it's a godsend. Part of this could be stemming from HPs lawsuit attempting to block third parties from filling cartridges, but if the competition results in cheaper ink, I'm all for it. Controls:At the printer itself, there is only one physical power button and the rest is controlled by a small color touch screen. Even though this thing is tiny, it manages to get the job done. It takes a second to get used to it's lag and using the keyboard with the keys that expand, but overall it does a good job of connecting you to the printer/scan/fax controls. App: The app on the iphone blew me away. You can fully control printing and scanning from your phone/tablet and it will interact with your device, like scanning to the app, where you could scribble your signature on a document in and email it, all using your phone. This is revolutionary in getting paper scans or prints to work with your phone, rather than requiring a computer as an intermediary. Features: I'm boggled that these devices still include fax, but it's there. I guess the government does still deal in some fax only situations. The scanner includes an automatic document feeder that holds up to 50 sheets. One thing I lamented was that it doesn't appear to be able to scan double sided even though it can PRINT double sided. Front usb ports and card readers for camera cards as well as the fairly easy to use touch screen give you lots of options. Overall: This printer has a good combination of app control, on board controls and features. It is replacing my main unit at home, and I'm going to give the HP Instant Ink a try.
