My impression of inkjet printers are that they are sloppy and slow. Not to be used for anything that really matters. Printing out a report for school? Sure. Photos or a resume? Never. I've been a loyal laserjet user for ten years. No more. The HP ENVY Photo 7855 has completely changed my mind. Not only was it super fast, but it was very detailed. First, right out of the box, this printer was more slim form than my current all-in-one which is quite bulky. The HP ENVY Photo 7855 is quite sleek and the build quality is quite impressive. I've found most printers to be pretty cheaply constructed but everything about this printer seems to be solid and of high quality. On to setup...My experience was less than satisfactory. I found it clunky whether trying to complete from the app or manually. Granted, I didn't follow the quick start steps, but I'm technically capable of setting up a printer without following a guide. I think this did contribute to some of the hangups, but missing one step shouldn't require unplugging the printer and starting over. All of that said, I did get it working after a short bit. Hopefully your experience (following the directions) will go more smoothly than mine. For functionality and features, I couldn't be more pleased. My previous all-in-one was wireless/networkable, but didn't have any phone/app connectivity. The scanning function could also be pretty tricky requiring a separate program installed from a CD. The HP ENVY Photo 7855 scans and prints easily with the touch of a finger directly from your phone or from the touch screen display on the printer itself. Copies and faxes can be easily accomplished directly from the printer. This can definitely save some stress when trying to get a document scanned and sent on a deadline. Most of your settings can be configured via the free app which also gives you ink levels so you know when it purchase replacements. All of the functions seem to operate much more quietly than my previous laserjet all-in-one. Finally, print quality is excellent. I printed a full page photo and the detail was as good if not than better my professional grade office color laserjet. IIt's more than adequate for anything that you'd be printing on regular copy paper (reports, charts, pictures, graphics, etc.) After purchasing some HP 4x6 photo paper, I decided to print a couple of pictures from a recent trip. The pictures could've been printed in a professional photo shop as far as I'm concerned! I've attached some pictures of the final product but I can tell you that I'm completely blown away and impressed. The two 4x6 photos were printed using the best quality setting while the full page was printed using the normal setting. In conclusion, I would absolutely recommend this all-in-one for anyone who wants a flexible and functional printer at home OR for your office. Inkjets aren't the most economically smart choice if you print a lot, but might be perfect for your home use or want to use this to print photos. I can't say how far the color ink will go. After printing just two 4x6 photos at the best quality and a full page photo at normal quality, the app is saying color ink is down to 80%. So, not sure exactly how long the cartridges will last. Also, these starter cartridges can sometimes have less capacity than the full replacements. Anyway, just something to consider. I imagine most of your printing will be black/white and require a lot less ink than full-page photos or ink heavy 4x6 photos. I'd highly recommend this printer to anyone at home or even for an office as long as you aren't printing a ton. Then you might want to consider a laserjet for economical reasons. Just keep in mind that laser toner isn't cheap--especially color toner! Pros: -Print quality (color and black) -Photo prints are amazing -Price -Build quality -Speed -Functionality (great app) Cons: -Ink use -Setup (follow the guide, don't go rogue like me)

This printer has it all for a home unit! I have gone through quite a few printers in the past as it seems these days that ink is the same price as the printer itself... but HP appears to be trying to change that. Setup: This thing is a slides out of the box all ready to go, after removing tape from a few places, including inside the paper tray, and loading it. Ink goes in easy and is quite self explanatory. Hp's new app based setup worked wonderfully, and I was able to get the printer connected to my wifi with zero issues from the touch screen. I appreciated that the app based setup gave me multiple options from my computer as to installing the full feature driver or the basic feature driver, as well as installing an OCR suite for recognizing text in scans. Gettin the app setup and running was easy once the printer was connected and it found my printer right away. Print Quality: the print quality coming out of this machine rivals what I've got for color laser at work, and the photo quality was spot on. All my test prints blew me away with color. Ink: The idea of HPs Instant Ink is intriguing to me. Consider it something like Subscribe and Save but for printer ink. You get a deal on your ink if you set up an account and let the printer order it for you You choose the duty cycle (how many pages you print a month on average) and when you reach 2x your duty cycle left in the ink cartridge, it will order more. Now for those of use that print one coupon a month and then ALL of your christmas cards in November.. this might not be the best option, but for someone who prints more regularly than this, it's a godsend. Part of this could be stemming from HPs lawsuit attempting to block third parties from filling cartridges, but if the competition results in cheaper ink, I'm all for it. Controls:At the printer itself, there is only one physical power button and the rest is controlled by a small color touch screen. Even though this thing is tiny, it manages to get the job done. It takes a second to get used to it's lag and using the keyboard with the keys that expand, but overall it does a good job of connecting you to the printer/scan/fax controls. App: The app on the iphone blew me away. You can fully control printing and scanning from your phone/tablet and it will interact with your device, like scanning to the app, where you could scribble your signature on a document in and email it, all using your phone. This is revolutionary in getting paper scans or prints to work with your phone, rather than requiring a computer as an intermediary. Features: I'm boggled that these devices still include fax, but it's there. I guess the government does still deal in some fax only situations. The scanner includes an automatic document feeder that holds up to 50 sheets. One thing I lamented was that it doesn't appear to be able to scan double sided even though it can PRINT double sided. Front usb ports and card readers for camera cards as well as the fairly easy to use touch screen give you lots of options. Overall: This printer has a good combination of app control, on board controls and features. It is replacing my main unit at home, and i am going to give the HP Instant Ink a try.

I've had mixed results with home printers in the past. My most recent printer was the HP Deskjet 3632 printer. It was sometimes quite selective about how and what it would print. I recently upgraded to the HP ENVY Photo 7855. This is a nice and robust machine, right out of the box. It is sleek and black, and not white and blue like my last printer! It has a nice color touchscreen display on the front that is intuitive, responsive and informative. Very useful indeed for navigating the options on the printer. Print, copy, scan and fax, all wirelessly! The printer was incredibly easy to set up. Remove the packaging tape, the cardboard inside, clip in the SUPPLIED printer cartridges and then turn it on. Load some paper and you are ready to go. I launched the 'HP Smart' app on my iPhone and did all the set up of the printer from there. Bluetooth connectivity is great, meaning, yes, I can print directly from my phone. That, in this day and age is a great addition to a home printer. I know it's not a new thing, but to have it on this new printer was great compared to my old one! And that is what I did first. Loaded up some 8.5"x11" paper and sent a photo of my Camaro to print. And bam, it printed it so quickly, so silently and within about 30 seconds, it was all done. The print? Well, I presume I have to adjust a couple of settings in the phone, as there were areas where there was banding in the black colors (see attached picture of the two prints I made). Every 1/2" or so, there were banding marks in the picture. I am sure if I delve into the settings, I should be able to eliminate them, more than likely it was on an 'economy' setting, to use as little ink as possible. Second print I made was of the same picture of my Camaro, but on the included 4"x6" photo quality paper. Again, directly from my iPhone, I printed the image. I adjusted some settings on the fly in my phone to make sure it printed on the right size of paper, with great quality and the result was incredibly pleasing! I was surprised at the detail and quality of the print! It looks fantastic! If I had one complaint, it would be that the blacks look quite flat, compared to the vibrancy of the color areas. The color areas have great color depth and gloss to them, whereas the black areas look matte and flat compared to the rest of the print. It isn't detrimental overall to the print, but as a Graphic Designer, I know what I'm looking for in a printed image, which is why I was able to notice the flat areas. Overall, this is a nice, uncomplicated, robust machine, that I would recommend to my friends. Very nice addition to my home office!

The HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer is the new Top-Of-The Line home office / small office printing / scanning / faxing solution provider. I have owned numerous HP printers, as well as several All-in-One machines from various manufacturers. I find HP offers the lowest cost ink (HP quotes less than 5 cents / printed page) & the most reliable hardware. LIKES: 1- Perfect Size & Weight: At approximately 18" X 16" X 8", it does not have a huge footprint for a home office, and is heavy enough (about 17#) not to move around or tilt when you raise the flatbed scanner. 2- HP proven reliability (HP printers are consistently at the top or near the top in reliability surveys). 3- USB jack on the front panel is super convenient for loading documents or photos to print, without having to reach around the back of the machine. 4- Amazing quality black & white printing; very good quality color photos. 5- Wireless Printing: 2.4 Ghz WiFi connects effortlessly to both Mac (I use Mac Sierra 10.12.6 OS) & Windows. I did not encounter any connection issues printing from several devices located on 3 separate floors by WiFi. 6- Beautiful Color Touchscreen on the front panel makes selecting & adjusting photos foolproof before printing. 7- SD Card Slot accepts the media from your digital camera & makes printing photos directly from camera a breeze. 8- "HP Smart" App (free) offers the easiest way to share photos to social media, print directly from your phone or tablet, as well as select the function you want. It is unquestionably the very best printing app available today! It is rated 5 / 5 stars in the Apple App Store with 31,248 reviews! 9- This is the latest "Instant Ink" printer. I have not tried this subscription service yet, but it is very interesting! I particularly like the larger cartridge size & the low monthly charge. No more worries about which color is running low in the ink cartridge, either. All colors are replaced monthly with new black & color cartridges. The printer alerts HP to send you the ink automatically. 10- Large 125 sheet source paper tray + 15 sheet photo tray + 25 sheet Automatic Document Feeder. The Document Feeder does not jamb on bent paper - it really works. 11- I "fired" my home phone, so I no longer Fax. Therefore I could not try this feature. The manual describes how the built-in Fax operates at 9.6 Kbps, 14.4 Kbps and 33.6 Kbps speeds & can color fax to and from color fax machines. 12- Apple AirPrint & HP ePrint are built-in. This enables direct printing from most phones & tablets. DISLIKES: None so far. SUMMARY: The HP ENVY Photo 7855 prints high quality photos, scans in amazing detail, and is a huge time saver because it is so easy and fast to use, especially with the "HP Smart" App. It is a tool that can boost home office productivity & it earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

The HP ENVY Photo 7855 serves it's purpose as a general, everyday printer for most home/personal tasks. I previously owned an ENVY 4504 that I purchased on Black Friday a few years ago, since all I needed was really basic printing for school. The thing that surprised me the most about this new model is that it prints both B/W and color pages a lot faster than my old Envy did. It also holds a lot more paper so I don't need to be loading the tray as often, and in terms of build quality it seems a lot sturdier and more "well made" than my older one. I can definitely say that HP has been spending a lot of their resources on improving their printers over the last several years. Taking the printer out of the box and setting it up wasn't as much of a breeze, particularly because I have HP Instant Ink and had everything set up on my old Envy, so I had to spend a bit more time moving everything over and at one point contacting HP Connected support to get my subscription moved over to my new printer. After jumping through that brief hurdle, everything else was smooth sailing. I am impressed with the print quality of the ENVY Photo 7855 for it being an inkjet printer. I recently purchased higher quality 32 lb copy paper that's generally meant for laser printers, but was really shocked to see just how amazing my B/W documents came out of this printer, and these were with default print quality settings in Windows! Printing color documents with text also looked fascinating, but of course with any photo printing on non-photo paper, the images looked "okay" although not as high-quality as they would be on actual photo paper. I wish HP included a trial set of photo paper to use but they did not include any. Overall, the HP ENVY Photo 4855 meets all of my general everyday printing needs and I'm sure it will for you too. If you fairly do a lot of printing, I recommend signing up for HP's Instant Ink service which saves me trips to the store and doesn't cost me as much money. For business and enterprise users, I'd recommend looking for a laser printer.

I've used HP products for printing and scanning since around 1986. So I have a lot of experience with HP products. My first scanner was a B&W HP scanner which cost me $1500 back then. That was when scanners first appeared for people to buy (a little history). This HP Envy 7855 all in one printer is a winner in all aspects. We like to print 4 by 6 photos of our grandchildren, which this printer does perfectly. It scans documents perfectly (whether B&W or color), and copies them perfectly as well. Now, I'll get to the most significant point I can make for inkjet printing. Our old HP 7520 ink cost us a lot and had issues utilizing all the ink in various cartridges. So for me any new inkjet printer had to be less expensive to operate. This HP 7855 inkjet wins that battle hands down. We signed up for the automatic ink replacement from HP and already received our first set of 2 cartridges (1 black, 1 tri-color). And they arrived slightly before the tri-color needed to be replaced first. I'm impressed! We signed up for 100 pages a month with ink mailed to us automatically (which HP monitors online). It cost us $5 a month. Translated to 4 by 6 color photo printing that makes each print cost 5 cents for the ink alone. AND, this HP printer, like those in the past, will print to any brand of photo paper (unlike another printer that shall go nameless). I'm thankfully amazed at the $$ we'll save on ink alone. HP has hit a home run with this printer and with the special ink replacement program. They do require you to mail back old empty cartridges. They included a postage free plastic envelope that you mail back the empties when the envelope is full. Life is good and my frustration with costly inkjet printing is FINALLY history. Thank-you HP!!!

Just bought a HP ENVY 7855 photo printer to replace my HP 6700 pro which finally stopped printing. I had been babying it for the last year or so. Anyway the new printer works great. I was able to hook it up wirelessly not only to my desktop computer, but my wife's desktop and my laptop. I also will set up my phone as well in a day or two. It has a double photo drawer, one for regular paper and another for photo paper. There is an option for USB and ethernet connections if desired, as well as a USB port on the front for direct connection from whatever device you might need. I found it easier and more effective to go to Hp support and enter the printer model and download the software from there rather than the 123.hp.com app which the instructions recommends. You get a complete install with a number of adds on by going to the support website. All in all it is a great printer with lots of options for home use. I was able to buy it at Best Buy at a good discount, which is why I splurged for this model. I no longer need a professional model as I am retired and don't have to work from home or do monthly notices for my lodge as in the past. I still keep meticulous personnel, rental property and investment records, using Quicken and other software and rely on the scanning and printing functions heavily to keep everything up to snuff. I highly recommend this printer to anyone who needs a printer with more options than the basic home models but does't want or need to pay the extra for a professional model. The print quality for both documents and photos is superb, far better even than my old professional 6700.

For me this has been a good printer for my home office/personal use. It has a lot of usable features and I like the two sided copying feature the most. for not much money it does a good job. I printed a couple of photo's and while I do not expect to use the photo printing very often, the pictures looked very good. The convenience of sending photos to print from my mobil phone worked very well and really wasn't complicated. While not needed, adding the HP app to my phone allowed an additional feature or two for printing options from the phone. I considered some of the other HP printers in the same class or series as this one and I am glad I spent the few extra dollars for the additional features such as the the document feeder. No complaints about printing speed or noise when compared to printers I have had in the past. I like the front loading paper tray. it is rare that I will have a large print job (20 pages or more) but if I did I'm sure it could handle it occasionally. If I printed more on a daily basis I would have looked at printers cable of higher volumes of print work and printing speed which were much more expensive, but for my needs this works very well. Setting up wasn't too bad but I did spend extra time reading about and trying out the features. The LED touch pad screen is easy to figure out when printing directly from the printer or looking up information about the printer. Life expectancy for the ink cartridges are similar to what I had before with an HP printer and this seems to be consistent with printed information from the manufacturer. Happy with my purchase.

Basically 1.Unpack it 2.Plug it in 3. Put in the Included Ink Cartridges 4 go to 123.hp.com and install the app on your computer or smartphone and follow the prompts to complete both initial setup and WiFi network setup. (Ethernet as well as a standard printer cable are options if your not wireless ready, but no cable is provided for either) Its a great deal faster than my 4 year old Kodak and relatively quiet as well. Both the photo quality on photo paper as well as maps and text printed on regular paper are of excellent quality and clarity. Easy to wirelessly print from both my iphone and laptop. Scans are fast and crisp and clear. I didn't test the fax capabilities as I have no need to fax, but I would expect equally as good performance as the rest of the printers features The app is a must if you make the error I did on the printer itself in the initial setup. I selected spanish as the language for the printer by mistake and there was no way to reset it that I could find. I had to guess what it the printer was telling me until I went thru the standard expected things that go along with a printer setup and then and only then did the app allow me to select English for the printer's language. Once that was done, the touch screen control pad on the printer updated to english and all was well.

This was a replacement for my ancient HP Photosmart 7760. I had very few issues with it over the course of it's life and used it on a regular basis. I wouldn't say we're heavy users of printers, but my wife prints monthly invoices for her customers so it gets used more than the average household. After 10+ years, it was time to move on. Setup for the new Envy 7855 was pretty painless. HP recommends using their mobile app, which seemed pointless to me. In order for the printer to be discovered, your phone has to be connected to the printer's built-in WiFi vs your home network. The app picked it up fine, but there wasn't a way (if so, not easy to find) to migrate the printer to the home network. That seemed odd to me. Connecting to the home network was easy enough to do from the printer display so the app provided little value. We're using this from MacBooks, so driver installation was painless. It picked the printer up quickly and configuration was minimal. I don't have a Windows PC on which to test, but I'd imagine it'll be straight forward. I've always avoided package software as they always seem to add extra complexity. Print quality is as you'd expect from HP - great color and clarity. We've been using it now for a couple of weeks and I haven't heard any complaints.

Since there are a million "all-in-one" printers on the market, it's hard to find something that rises above the competition - but this printer is pretty incredible. It has a tiny footprint (and all the paper loads from the front!!!), it prints paper documents quickly, and photo printing is borderless and extremely crisp. Setup on my smartphone was a breeze. This printer utilizes only two cartridges - one black and one tri-color. I don't know how cost-effective that will be in the long run, but buying individual colors hasn't worked out well for me in the past. I included a picture of me holding a printed picture of my dog - you can see that the printing is truly borderless and really clear - the image looks more like my dog is there than it looks like a picture of my dog.

I picked this up fully expecting to spend a couple hours (or more) setting up all of the features. However, to my surprise, after about 30 minutes of installing the app on my phone, and entering various bits of information to the printers connectivity settings, as well as HP's on-line parts, I was up and running. I didn't even have to add the printer to my computers. Once it was on my network, all of my machines/devices picked it up and can print to it. I did fine one tiny annoying thing...well, annoying to me...The email --> print function works great. However, after printing the attachment, the printer prints the footer of the email that the attachment came in on. So, if you email a photo to be printed, you'll get the photo and a page printed...and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn that off. But this is nowhere near a big enough deal to make me not recommend this all-in-one. If you're looking for an affordable all-in-one, look no further than this gem.

I rarely offer up reviews of products I've purchased as I seem to leave this task for others to perform. But in this case I changed my mind after having this printer now for a month. The setup was extremely easy and downloading and getting the HP app to work was per the instructions. A thumbs-up to both. The printing has been exceptional for the price point on this printer. I can save on paper by printing double-sided or choose single-sided to keep the lumber companies in business. All images, whether black & white or color seem to come out looking very sharp. I have not done a lot of photo printing yet and will update this review later if necessary but I expect good results there as well using HP photo paper. That's my story for now and I'm sticking to it.

This is a fantastic printer and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new photo printer that wants ease of use and peace of mind with it. Setup is a breeze with the HP Smart Printer App which installs on your Tablet, Phone or PC. Instant Ink is awesome if you're like me and don't want to worry about remembering to order new ink when I need it. Loading up paper is simple and it holds both photo paper and regular paper at the same time. All in all, I like the features and the print quality is great in the testing that I have done with some photos and documents. Pros: Easy Setup with App on your PC, Phone or Tablet Quiet operation Fast printing High quality photos Automatic Document Feeder Flatbed Scanner HP Instant Ink Compatible Duplex Printing Easy to use apps that have great features Wireless Cons: Combined Color Cartridge (CMY) No Expanded Ink Colors (not a huge deal as it prints good but would make it print even better than it does)

After reading lots of reviews of different printers as well as those for the HP Envy 7855 I decided to purchase it. It was very easy to instal, probably because I only buy HP printers and had the HP PrintSmartapp already installed on my laptop and iPhone. I like that it’s an AirPrinter as I print a lot from from phone. It prints very fast, in good quality and the photo colors are great so far. I didn’t opt for the Instant Ink as yet but am still considering it. I have to assess how long the cartridges will last so I can decide whether it’s more cost effective and convenient to pay a monthly fee. This printer has lived up to my expectations thus far. My previous HP 7510 printer lasted 7 years so I’m hoping this will do the same!

We are not heavy printer users. I used to play with printing my own photos, but the ink was just too expensive and the colors were unpredictable. I just got this HP Envy and so far so good. The setup was simple. It is big and I won't be using the fax since I don't have a phone line free. However, I'm using the hpsmart app on my iPad and everything so far has worked quickly. I've signed up for the e ink program and don't think I will be worrying about "expensive" ink anymore. I've printed a couple of photos and they came out true to life. Looking forward to printing more pictures at home now. My husband was able to print from his android tablet and my iMac in another room picked up the new printer with no problem, and my iPhone 7plus worked great as well. I haven't tried the card reader or USB drive yet, but nice to have it when needed. I am very pleased with my new printer and think it will be a great addition.

I am very happy with all the features on my new printer. It is very fast for making multiple copies and very clear. This is my first Envy printer and I am extremely pleased with it's operation and the high quality of printed photos. This printer has all of the features to meet my home printing/scanning/copying needs. Great printer for the money. So far I have used it only for printing documents from the computer and making copies, but it prints photos and scans and faxes as well. The quality of the copies has been good. It was not easy to set up however, that took some time. There was no manual or CD. I had to try and find install instructions on line. But over all this is a good printer.

I needed a basic printer. BB associate recommended this one. Though I didn't really need the color printing feature, the sale price made me think twice. I finally went with it. The other main factor, per the associate, HP has the best customer service. I hope I don't have to use it, but it's good to know. Set up was easy. It's menu driven on the printer screen. I just entered the Wi-Fi password and went from there... took about 15 mins or so to get it up and running.. Another thing I like about this printer is the ink cartridges. A normal one (Non XL), will last about 300 pages on black/white which is a lot more than I plan for. Overall, I'm happy with this printer and would recommend it to anyone.

Purchased this printer to replace a "Kodak" printer that was functional with an older version of Windows. Now Kodak no longer works with new computer so purchased this. Prints very good pictures, not laser quality but... it's not a laser. When people want the quality that you get from a store, either go to the store or pay a lot of money for a high-quality photo printer. This is very good, the regular documents come out excellent and to be honest the replacement ink is cheap. I have the "big brother" to this one and it prints a "little" better but the ink is double the price. Bottom line really good printing, relative reasonable ink and it was very easy set up.

First and foremost I hate printers but decided to give it another shot. Setup was extremely simple. I have it set to my WiFi network. I also print from my smart phone and iPad. Again very easy setup. Print quality is excellent. I'm a light user so I haven't had time to experience anything bad. I like the touch screen lcd panel allows you to see ink levels, make copies, and minor editing of photos. Inexpensive ink and if you sign up for hp instant ink it's even less. Overall satisfied with the purchase.
