Instantly like the HP Envy6455e printer. Didn't want to as it doesn't have a display screen. I quickly got over that as the app does everything you need and makes up for a lack of display on the printer itself. Only problem is if you don't have your phone handy...oh wait my phone is never not handy. After set up my computer instantly recognized the printer and off we go. Printing is good quality, even good enough for occasional work from home use. The instant ink program seems like a good deal to me, especially given the size of the included cartridges. My guess is you can buy XL's but this is meant to be a low volume printer. The tray only holds 100 sheets. Scanning is made easy through the app and sheet feeder. The footprint is not too bad, it is pretty compact and fits nicely on my book shelf. Noise level is what you would expect, not very noisy but not laser quiet. Overall considering function and looks, even without a display screen, it is a keeper and I would recommend.

    Good but not w/o issues

Doesn't work at top level consistently. Sometimes sends out blank sheets of paper instead of printed copies expected, but when it's working correctly--it does a good job. Like being able to put a stack of papers to copy instead of hand feeding them one by one. Had HP 5000 series printer before and this one is much better.

Setup was not a breeze! Not the printer’s fault because my wifi was cutting in and out. However, please be aware that you need to have a wifi connection in order to fully install the printer, including activating HP+. Once the internet was rebooted, everything was nice and smooth. I printed a few sheets with the sample cartridge and it printed beautifully. I have used it to print on photo transfer paper and it came out great. The benefit of being HP+ compatible for the Instant Ink is amazing. It doesn’t charge you for the ink, it’s a preset charge based on how many pages you print per month. There are different subscription levels. Mine came with a free 6 month trial to HP+ and I intend to pay for the subscription once the trial is over. The only thing that might make this printer better is if there was a touch screen monitor. It’s fine without it, just would be nice. Oh, the sounds it makes and the ambient colors are really cool.

Like the size, and functions once it's setup which was not easy. Had help with setup that had to be connected through a cell phone and then downloaded to computer. Took over an hour but once online works great.

Great budget all-in-one printer for home needs

This HP Envy 6455e is a compact all-in-one home printer that can print, scan, copy. Setup is seamless and pretty easy, but you do need to use the HP Smart app as there is no LCD screen on the printer. When you are setting this printer, you would need to activate HP+ (more on this below) for additional features. The printer comes with auto document feeder for fast scanning and copying as well as flatbed scanner. The paper tray can hold up to 100 sheets that also supports two-sided printing. The printer comes with two cartridges, one black and one tricolor. There is a smart control panel that will light up when needed like when you are connected to Wi-Fi or when the flatbed is open or when you are copying or scanning, etc. HP+ gives you 2 years of warranty, 6 months of genuine HP ink cartridges via HP Instant Ink, and 2 years of additional features on the HP Smart app like sending mobile faxes, smart editing, scanning, and printing from anywhere. The ink subscription starts as low as 99¢ and you can choose from several plans based on your printing needs and HP will ship you the new ink cartridges. With the HP+, you need to have your printer always connected to internet, only use original HP int cartridges, and need a credit card when enrolling. But you have the option to cancel it anytime. Overall, I recommend this if you are looking for a budget printer for all home printing needs.

I love this HP printer. It is good looking and performs well. I enrolled in the HP Instant Ink which makes life so much easier to get replacement ink on time. I have this service on 2 other printers in my house too. The printer batch scans easily also.

Aesthetically this printer is a work of art! It has a low sleek profile to the point where it can fit on a shelf with 14” clearance and still open and be fully functional! Do not look for buttons…other than the power button on the back! The right edge of the front paper tray has embedded touch-sensitive buttons that light up depending on what function is being performed. The HP Smart application is required on a mobile device or desktop for the initial set up, and all functions are controlled by the device(s). The printer features an automatic document feeder that holds about 35 pages, but duplexing is a manual process. The printer takes a black ink cartridge and a 3-ink cartridge, but HP has an “Instant Ink” program available that is based on pages printed per month that can reduce your ink cost. The paper tray holds about 100 pages. The stated printing speed is about 10 ppm mono and 7 ppm for color. The paper also functions as a copier and fax machine.

Nice Printer with Instant Ink Option

The HP Envy all-in-one ink jet printer 6455e installation was as easy as removing the blue shipping tape, installing the software and installing the two ink cartridges. The print quality is great and it can also print pictures. In addition to printing, the HP Envy printer can copy and scan. The printer comes with 24 months of mobile fax. The software is downloaded from 123.hp.com and the first time I typed the address in the search bar (no typos), I ended up at a Printer Driver Downloads website that asked for my credit card number. Since enrolling in the HP ink subscription plan also requires a credit card, it almost sounded legitimate. So beware and make sure you are at the official HP website. The printer comes with the option of enrolling in HP+. Enrollment includes free ink (up to 700 pages a month) for 6 months. The printer comes with 2 starter ink cartridges - color and black. If a person chooses to not enroll in HP+, new cartridges may need to be purchased soon. After 6 months there are several ink subscription plans to choose from, based on usage. If enrolled, the printer communicates with HP via an internet connection and new ink is sent as needed without ordering. Up to 300 unused pages roll over from month to month. Used cartridges can be returned for recycling free of charge. Enrollment in HP+ also extends the warranty of the printer to 2 years but you have to agree to only use original HP cartridges, even if not enrolled in the instant ink program. It is very convenient and the cost is about half that of purchasing retail ink cartridges, although still expensive. The cost per page is more than double that of a laser printer. The trade off is being able to print in color. After the 6 months expire, the cost to print is about 5 cents a page ($4.99 for 100 pages). If you go over your plan estimate, your credit card is charged $1 for each additional set of 10 pages. To prevent additional charges, the page count should be checked periodically. The “smart” control panel on the printer is normally blank except for the WiFi symbol, which takes some getting used to. Symbols only appear as needed. For instance if the top is lifted and a piece of paper is placed on the glass, the copy and scan buttons appear. The “cancel” symbol lights up as soon as something starts to print, making it easy to cancel quickly. I’ve only had one problem with it. The printer is adjacent to both an HP PC and the WiFi source, so no connection issues. However, occasionally when I have a document to print, I get a notice that the printer is off-line - even though the blue “ready” light and the WiFi symbol are on. After a couple of tries I switch to my other printer to print the document. Then the next time I print on the Envy printer, all the documents that wouldn’t print before, print. In general, it is a good printer if you don’t mind the extra cost for the option of being able to print in color.

Very pleased with your prompt service for delivering very of this HP Printer. It has great quality for a home office printer. The only complaint would be set up, the instructions are vague and do not prove de adequate instructions for ease of set up but a non-professional. There were codes needed which were not easily identified-however this would be a HP issue not a BestBuy problem. Great value for price!

    Beware of Subscription Model

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I didn't realize until months later that HP printers with an "e" identifier after the model typically are internet connected devices that come with HP's instant ink subscription. HP makes it extremely hard/impossible to setup without connecting it to the internet and utilizing the HP smart app since this doesn't have a display. After canceling the ink subscription you can no longer use the ink, even if it's full since it comes programed to only work when subscribed. There is no display so if you need network info or are trying to diagnose the printer you have to print pages with that info. Definitely not a user friendly printer if you just want a printer that works without subscriptions or internet connectivity.
