When our old printer died after 7 years we automatically looked for a new HP, partly because we were happy with its Instant Ink service, which does in fact save money. Unfortunately this printer is, in a word, garbage. We're so unhappy with it! In the first place, it is dramatically more problem-prone than our old printer. We've only had it three weeks, and we've had to unplug it and plug it back in MANY times to reset it, and we've also had multiple paper jams. We have absolutely no confidence in this device and expect that we will have to replace it in short order. Until it died our old printer just worked, reliably, and we are shocked with the constant problems we have to put up with now. In the second place, it is incredibly poorly designed. For one thing, there's a bright blue light that stays lit all the time, for absolutely no reason, and it also tends to make noises at random. Besides wasting energy, you can't leave in turned on in a room you want to sleep in, but have to shut it off every night -- and then discover that it's off when you want to use it. But, worst of all, there is no screen on it. This was a careless purchase on our part; we didn't realize what a problem this was. When things go wrong you have no idea why, since there's nothing to tell you. AND, you can't make any adjustments to photocopies -- can't enlarge, reduce, lighten, darken, etc. Nothing. Originally we thought you could via the app, but you can't. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed this printer. They certainly weren't thinking about use. The only reason why it gets two stars instead of one is that it is usable most of the time. Do not make our mistake!

The last two printers I had were a different brand and they never worked even with fresh ink and I just had so many problems with them. So I decided to try this brand as well as the monthly ink ordering as well which is new to me. So far the app has been great with making copies, printing etc. my kids have also enjoyed printing copies for coloring etc. So far so good.
