Mixed bag of hopes that HP can't deliver...

I've owned quite a few HP laptops, even with AMD cpu back in 2000s, and was very optimistic for the 4000 ryzen u series, but HP just does not deliver with this model, at least for now. Not sure if all is ryzen model specific, should I blame windows update, but end results are some very serious quirks that for now completely ruin my experience. I had recent HP Envy Intel that does not have following issues. Cpu fan is on most of the time and it has an annoying high tone pitch if laptop is elevated to any angle other than laying flat. For me this is quite a deal breaker since I am used to keep laptop on an elevated and uneven cooling stand. But OK, I am getting older and my hearing will for sure cut off that high pitch tone some time soon. Just kidding, this is unacceptable. When closing down the laptop lid it detects changing of screen orientation and wants to switch to tablet mode, showing that mode change message, and very often does not go to sleep mode at all. Two times so far it woke me up during the night with fans at maximum speed and loudness and it was almost a fire hazard how hot the case was and fans were blowing hot air behind the screen through the only vents due to 2-in-1 design. All of this with laptop doing nothing, no running processes left, other than obvious windows inability to go to the sleep mode. In order to be sure it will go to sleep mode and turn off the fans I have to press the power off button, wait a bit to turn off the fans, and then close the lid, which is very frustrating. Again not sure if I am to blame windows update or HP but more than seldom, and after the recent big windows update quite often, system task shows 100% cpu occupation without knowing what it actually does (ntoskrnl.exe at 100%) until I restart the laptop... I am far past the age of enthusiasm to debug why it does what it does, or rather why it is not doing what it is supposed to and what I have paid $$$ for it. But OK, AMD stock treated me well past few years so I am still tolerating the situation. On the pro side I will say ryzen 4700u works well, can show decent cpu and gpu muscles, battery life is very good maybe 7h of spreadsheet-ing and you can almost play F1 2019 at 1080p with High details. OK, not at 50-60fps that today's youth demands, but for someone who has played Microprose Formula One back in 1990s at 10-15fps of rectangular world, today's Ryzen 4700u ability to show fully rendered world at almost 30fps in a 15W tdp is a fantastic achievement!

Purchased HP Envy x360 with AMD Ryzen 7, 8 cores a few weeks ago. Laptop is running very well. Doubles as a tablet, nice. Using it for work running MS Excel, Word. Response is quick and nimble. Battery life is about 7-10 hours most days, much shorter if running intensive disk drive ops. Very happy with performance. Was a great value since bought it online thru a Best Buy Black Friday sale. Overall, very happy with this purchase and sales support from Best Buy.

I have used Dell computers for years and got fed up with the bad customer service. I decided to try HP and am so happy i did! I love this computer, i work from home and it has everything i need and is is fast enough for my needs. I had some problems with the speaker during zoom meetings and when i contacted customer service (with only a 5 minute wait) the fixed the problem right away. HP customer service is top notch and any future computers will be HP.

I bought this laptop to do digital art. I use a Wacom bamboo pen with the touch screen and it works perfectly. This computer is fast and the design is sleek. Just make sure you check how many ports you need before purchasing, as its sleek design means there aren't a ton of ports in it. Not an issue for me, but I could see it being an issue for someone else. All in all, I'm really happy with my purchase.

This is an amazing laptop, the Ryzen processor is super fast and doesn't need a lot of power, battery life is good, and having a convertible 2 in 1 can be super useful. Fingerprint reader works well, keyboard feels solid and typing feels good too. I love this model, first HP in a while after owning 2 Surface's in a row, I was ready to go back to a more "normal" size laptop and this has been perfect.

I recently bought this laptop to replace my previous laptop and wow! This laptop has it all! It looks like a million bucks, super responsive on the touch screen, good key travel, great display, etc. I mean i could go on and on about how amazing this laptop is but you just have to try it for yourself. Recommend this to anyone looking for a solidly built laptop for everyday use.

Very quick, powerful CPU / GPU combo, not the fastest AMD makes, but definitely handles any business or anything a student can throw at it. I can appreciate the HP build quality - very sturdy, and it's a beautiful design. The dim (250 nits) reflective screen is this laptops downfall. I returned it due to the screen not meeting my needs, but BB did just drop $200 off the price, so for $750 it's a decent deal.

This has been a very solid laptop with great batter life. My wife had to have a touchscreen and we got this on sale for a very good price. At the time nothing could beat it. We hav had issues with the eithernet card and sound not working at times and having to do a restart to resolve the issues. Mght have to do with power save modes and deep states?

Got this for my dad who likes flexibility and longevity in his computers. The upgradable RAM is a nice touch, especially when many manufacturers nowadays are soldering RAM into the motherboard, locking you into 8 or 16 GB. I know he'll be well-off for all his needs for a long time. It's a fast computer, well-built, keys feel nice and the backlit LEDs come through against the dark aluminum very nicely.
