Good laptop for mixed home/work use

I've had the laptop for about 2 months now, and so far it's met my goals for mixed use for home and (remote) work. Just before buying this out I bought a Dell and had to send it back because the fan was so loud that people on the other end of Zoom calls complained. But with the HP I've used Zoom, Teams, and WebEx just fine, both on high-speed internet and on a slow DSL line. I did get the fan to make some noise playing a downloaded game, but other than that it's been very quiet. It does run a little hot after several hours of video calls, so I use a lap protector when sitting on the couch. I've bought laptops several times over the last decade from Best Buy, and I like being able to see and touch them before buying them. This time I took a chance because you can only order for pick up, but it worked out just fine, and the pick up process was really easy. As far as the tech specs are concerned, this hit all of them: 1) decent speakers 2) passable web cam (enough for meetings and full family zoom calls) 3) decent microphone (I do use a USB mike as well) 4) fingerprint reader (so much easier than passwords) 5) full HD screen (touch is a bonus, I didn't specifically buy it for the touch screen, but do end up using it for scrolling through documents. I only used the tablet mode once so far.) 6) up-to-date CPU/memory/SSD 7) up-to-date wifi 8) number pad (I sometimes do a lot of data entry, and it definitely helped filling out tax forms) Cons (all minor) The power button is in a weird place (between F12 and delete). But it's got a light so I've managed to stay away from hitting it by accident. Only 2 USB-A ports (while working for extended time, I used a full-size keyboard and mouse, and had to unplug the mouse to plug in a USB memory stick). I plan on getting a USB-C double-ended cable for plugging in the phone.

This is by far the best laptop I’ve ever owned! Probably will be the best purchase of 2020! I couldn’t be happier, the pic quality is excellent and overall the computer is just top of the line! HP did a great job with this one. I caught the sale for Memorial day and got this for 650$ vs almost 1000$! I was definitely stoked and very pleased! Beat decision you’ll ever make!

Really a great laptop for just basic needs, word, PowerPoint, excel, photoshop, streaming. It can do some more intense work on student programming and can keep up with some CAD softwares but there’s better options out there. This was for my cousin, upgraded from a 5 year old 17in pavilion, loved the speed but she could’ve give up the size. She returned it for the 17.3 inch model. Personal preference but I would actually prefer the smaller one.

I feel like maybe I should have spent more and got something beefier but it does it's job and doesn't really run hot unless I'm playing games.. there's an option to run quite over powerful so idk if it's a good idea to use the setting but sometimes I do because l am working or playing in a quiet area. Anyway, looks nice. Feels heavy but we'll built, not cheap. Doesn't come with stylus.. touchscreen works well with the offbrand one I purchased.

This may be the best laptop on the market coming in with performance, portability, and design. The laptop has great features such as the 360 hinge to watch movies or create. Most convertibles don’t come with great performance but this laptop is a game changer. I can have all I need with this laptop and could not ask for more. This is the best deal you would get for these specs. One thing I don’t like about this laptop is the fan noise, it isn’t that annoying but it is loud if you work in a quiet environment.

My Best Buy advisor assured me that the HP Envy notebook would be easy and quick to set up and it was. I had an immediate timeline to get it up and running and was able to do that. It’s easy to use and I enjoy its portability. I bought this brand because HP products have a history of reliability. I am very pleased with the purchase. I chose Best Buy because of the number of computer options, price, and customer service.

Is it the best PC? No. There are better ones. But it works exactly for what is needed. And what I needed was a computer for my mom that had a quality webcam, big visible keys, touchscreen/tablet/2-in-1 capability (to read the newspaper websites like NYTimes), and good specs. I personally wanted something with an SSD so it would be snappy. 8GB of ram is not the best idea for today's productivity, but when it is your mom playing card games, solitaire, using MS Word and MS Outlook, 8GB is quite sufficient. I'd say the best part of this computer is the keyboard letters. They are so big. My mom is a great typer but she still touch-types from time to time. The letters are huge on the keys. Unfortunately the keyboard is NOT backlit, so, no good there. Webcam is good quality - we've done a few video chats and my mom looked good. The big downsides to this laptop: the right CTRL button is gone in favor of a fingerprint scanner (yuck). My mom doesn't care, but people should be aware. No way to remap it. The power plug is the standard AC HP plug (yuck). I get that for the HP Omen, being a powerful gaming laptop, a USB C plug may not be sufficient, but this is a more power balanced laptop. I don't understand why a USB C plug couldn't be used. Beyond that there is not much to complain about as long as you know what you are getting (just a good serviceable PC for regular use, no gaming). Very nice metal chassis. Good weight. Good keyboard feedback.

I purchased this laptop with no idea what I was looking for but a touch screen option was a must inherently I just went to top of list and purchased best one that came up first! not knowing what a gigabit or any of those things are pretty computer illiterate lol, it was just purchased from two parameters screen size and touch screen, and I love it, if it's a good one not sure but I'm happy thats all that matters! Lol.
