Very good product, connectivity was a breeze, fit into a small space. Mobile printing exceptionally user friendly. The fact that the ink has free refills was a game changer. HP keep up the good work.

I really want to like the HP LaserJet M209dwe Printer. Just looking at the quality of the print and the versatility it has, It is what you would expect from an HP printer. However, it is the extras that left me a less enthusiastic about this printer.
Out of the box, set up is easy. There is really nothing special that you need to know. You can hook it up to your home network via Ethernet connection or you can choose to use it wirelessly through a Wi-Fi connection. All you do is pull the printer out, remove all the packing, plug it in, and install the software. This can then run on a Windows machine, Mac, or smartphone for your printing needs. My devices had no problems finding the printer.
I was quickly able to print. The printer is monochrome, but it does have automatic two-sided printing which is nice. This printer should work well with small businesses, home, or student use. Letterhead and fine print come out clear and images look crisp as well. So this would work well for reports or other documents that you may need.
If you haven’t gotten an HP printer in a while, there are a few things to familiarize yourself with though. First is HP+. This is a system which monitors your printer. If you sign up for it, you get a warrantee of 2 years instead of one on your printer. However, you will need to only use Original HP Toner with your printer, and you must maintain your printer with an Internet connection.
You also become eligible to use the HP+ InstantInk which is a subscription toner service. You get the first six moths of toner for free, but after that you are on a subscription plan. You select how many pages per month you plan to use and then HP bills you each month for the use. In return, when you run low on toner, they send you a new toner cartridge with no additional cost. You do need to put in your credit card information even to get the free six months though. This means you need to keep track of passwords and credit cards on file for when credit cards need updated or you stop using your printer and need to cancel the service so they don’t keep charging you. You can cancel at any time or change your plan as you like. But this is just an extra thing to do as opposed to just going and buying toner like you always did.
The printer is not portable, but it does try to describe itself as compact. The listed dimensions are 10.5 inches high by 14 inches wide. The length is not mentioned though. That is because once you extend the paper tray to its useful position it 16 inches long. You can remove the paper tray and fold everything back but that means every time you want to use the printer, you need to extend the paper tray and load paper. That kind of defeats the purpose of trying to keep the printer compact.
The duty cycle on the printer is listed at 20,000 pages per month. So, this printer should be able to keep up with most office applications. However, the tray capacity is only 150 sheets. This seems a bit low for a LaserJet printer. So even if you do half of the duty cycle, you will fill the tray several times a day. I would prefer a bigger paper tray which was enclosed as opposed to the open sided tray that this one has.
The output tray can hold up to 100 documents before needing to be cleared. However, the output tray requires a pull-out extension to prevent all the documents from ending up on the floor. This means if you want to print on an instant without going to the printer first, this extension must be pulled out. That is fine but it creates a piece that can be broken by someone walking by and catching something on the piece. I have had that happen before and it is annoying.
As I have explained, I am really mixed on this HP LaserJet M209dwe printer. The quality is great, and the printer should meet nearly all needs of those needing a LaserJet printer. While I would recommend this to a friend, I would do it with some additional explanation. I would want them to be sure of everything they were getting.
I have had several HP printers in the past and this one is better that the others. With the ability to print, copy, and scan, it can handle much of my needs. I recommend this printer to anyone looking for a quality All-in-One ink jet printer.

This printer serves the purpose. I found that I had issues with connecting the Wi-Fi but could have been user error. For the price it’s definitely a great home printer.

Device is good but was sold to me as an improved version of the sale printer I wanted. Thus one doesn’t scan or copy. I got ripped. I should have brought it back.

Bought this HP printer to replace our last one, which lasted over seven years before just not working. Connection to the Wi-Fi for wireless printing was quick and easy. We were up and running in less than 30 minutes.

I wanted a WiFi connected B/W laser printer that is fast, accepts envelopes occasionally, and prints two sided. This printer seems to do it all. The speed is as advertised, installation was a breeze, and the print quality is very good (as I always expect from an HP printer). The standard price is very competitive and the Black Friday sale price was a deal that couldn't be beat! The offer of 6 months of HP instant ink made this a fantastic deal overall.
