The may be the best WiFi printer yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We absolutely love this printer, especially for our kids being homeschooled, they have to print off a lot of material. First off, you need internet access to setup this printer, if you do not have internet, then you will have a much more difficult time setting this up. Once you start the setup though, it is fast, like minutes and running fast. The best part is the WiFi connectivity and the apps on Android work flawlessly to print to it from anywhere in the house. I have tested and own many printers with WiFi and I always end up having to hardwire to the server in the house, I did not have to do this with the HP M234dwe. HP obviously figured it out and how to make it work right and actually log the correct jobs coming in and not just get confused and error out. Printing is fast and looks great, nice black text and logos are clear for invoices as well. It is super quiet when printing which is nice when on the phone right next to it. The speed is plenty fast for the price, this is not meant for a huge office setting but 4 kids and 2 people that work from home, it is plenty. The scanner is great, set to 600dpi, it scans with great precision and I can use my software to turn the scan into a text document with no mistakes, it scans that clear. I highly recommend this printer, I cannot be more happy with it.

Unusable without continuous wifi.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why do they not explain that you must, MUST have these printers connected to the Internet to work? I cannot use this machine because I use a PC and do not have wifi.

Hard TO SEE and wrong-headed CONTROLS
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely idiotic, hard to read, non-intuitive to control machine. It could be great abut HP appears deeply committed to make its CONTROLS cheaper and feeble.

Prints and looks nice...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The packaging was great and the setup instructions were good. I think it was a little split between instructions when you open the box and those that walk you through the installation with HP Smart software package. I would say the sample page that is printed does not do the printer justice. I almost thought it was a dud but after printing my own documents and doing scans as well, this printer does deliver. The scan quality is nice and the instructions are pretty easy to follow. The software is the standard new HP Smart package. It delivers. I also had a problem that the first page I printed. It did nothing but after that the printer and scans were working without issue. I did choose the option to optimize the printer which I would assume would make things better so I am not sure that helped or hurt the process. I really like small form factor but it does not sacrifice in functionality. I would say this is not the best Lazer quality but works okay if you have a small home office or business.

High Performing Black & White Laser Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP - LaserJet M234dwe Wireless Black-and-White Laser Printer is lighting fast and precise. I use this printer all the time for printing reports. It's very easy to use. The menu is intuitive, very east to navigate. This printer works great for producing larger documents. Every page looks perfect. The font is very clear. I don't think I've ever used a faster printer at home/home office. You have a variety of connectivity options. Wireless (WiFi & Bluetooth) and USB. You can print directly from you wireless device. The scanner is amazing. You have the option to determine the quality of each scanned document. The higher the resolution, the lager the file size. I use the scanner often as I can scan directly to my phone and attach to an email in one step. This HP - LaserJet M234dwe Wireless Black-and-White Laser is awesome and handles all your printing needs for your home office/office. I highly recommend this printer!

Worth it for the office? Depends
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is truly meant for the office that needs a fair amount of black and white documents. The HP LaserJet M234dwe is a great value all-in-one MONOCHROME printer for the office. I must emphasize monochrome because it is for the office (or for the rare home) that only needs black and white documents. It does come with some caveats. Unboxing the HP LaserJet was typical HP, nothing special. Inside the box is the printer, toner cartridge, power cord, and the always required papers/manuals/guides. The size and weight of the printer are pretty average. There is a tiny 1.27” display that display minimal information. Setup was unfortunately not as straightforward as I would have liked it to be. You have to install the HP Smart software from their website as well as make an account to use it. You also have to setup the printer with each device that you are going to print with, whether that is your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc. HP is obviously investing heavily into the online connectivity/wireless capabilities. However, this can be very annoying to someone who just wants a quick print. However, for office computers that are always going to be there, this isn’t a huge drawback. Interestingly enough, they clearly discourage wired usage as no USB cord is included. There is a USB port but you still need internet and the aforementioned HP software and account to print. So this is a printer that purely depends on internet. Once again, this may be fine for businesses with constant internet access but not for the casual local printer. In terms of the specs, there is no automatic document feeder for the scanner. This may be inconvenient for the office that needs to scan/send and copy multiple documents. The paper tray holds 150 sheets, and the output holds 100 sheets. I was impressed with the print speed. The advertised 30 ppm is indeed true. This is faster than most other printers in this class for sure. For more complex documents needing gradient backgrounds, it is definitely much slower. I would say its closer to 10-12 ppm. This is not as impressive. The quality of the prints are nothing to laugh at. The text is crisp and readable at all font sizes. There is minor banding with the gradient backgrounds but it is definitely more than passable. So I am not as big a fan of subscription programs like HP+. It gives you an extra year of warranty for 2 years total and 6 months of free toner. You are also locked into buying HP toner for the rest of the life of the printer as the printer will not work with generics. Essentially, this locks you into their ecosystem. In addition, this printer does not give you the option of opting out of HP+. For SOME, HP+ absolutely can be affordable if you print close to the monthly limits. Otherwise, it can be not as worth it. All in all, this is a good monochrome office printer for some. It's pretty fast for basic text and prints are good quality. It does come with the wireless requirements and HP+ but these may not be drawbacks for everyone. Pros: Very fast for its class with 30 ppm Good print quality Wireless capabilities HP+ adds one more year to warranty for 2 total years, and free recycling HP+ may be worth it if you print basically close to the page limits each month Cons: Requires internet and HP account to function Virtually no wired capabilities – no local printer use Initial setup can be annoying and has to be done with every device Slower at complex prints at around 10-12 ppm No automatic document feeder for scanner/copier HP+ locks you into HP toner for the rest of printer’s life

Value Proposition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HPs latest low cost black-and-white laser printer (M234dwe) is an outstanding value proposition thanks to the addition of HP+ for six months out of the box. Seamless out of the box experience by simply plugging it in and installing the app on your phone or tablet. The app quickly gets the printer on your WiFi network and allows you to register for the HP+ service. Signed up and HP sent the first replacement toner cartridge within a week. HP monitors toner levels and sends replacement cartridges based on use and the service plan selected. The printer is quick and has solid 300dpi output. Offers wireless scanning function though it does not have an auto-document feeder for heavier duty work. If you don't need color in your day-to-day operation and need something focused on printing without extensive multifunction capability than HPs M234dwe is the way to go.

Scan copy and toner cartridges
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always felt that the inkjets were better, the toner cartridges I feel like last longer. Oh and then there's these other features like scanning, copying and very easy setup. Right out of the box it was pretty easy interface to set up. If you're not very computer-savvy of course there are instructions there and you're going to be just fine. I did have to call HP customer service this one time because that was one little picture that was kind of confusing. I got great customer service good people to talk to there. I think I'm going to be happy with my toner cartridge changing printer copier scanner. I know the wife is she doesn't let me use it yet.
