    I had the former model of this printer which I would have given a 5 star. This model makes a loud, grinding noise when printing. It has a big black box that keeps appearing telling you to order supplies. It won't go away even if you disable it per HP help... I can get 3 weeks or more out of the cartridge before I need to replace it but have to put up with this awful big black box. It prints papers nice and clear so that it why I gave it a 2 star rating. But, I print a lot of mailing labels and it sort of ghost (double) prints on the second label (I use a sheet with 2 labels on it), so the 2nd label is useless. It is going back and another brand is being purchased for fear of that big black box appearing on another HP model.

    The screen resolution makes everything too big and the picture quality is low, in stark contrast to the Surface tablet I connected it to. In addition, the USB connection to the Surface did not work properly. I ended up returning it. I do like the way the stand was built in, and the case it came with was a nice bonus. The hunt continues for a portable monitor that is a match for the Surface.

    So the alert light is flashing, and there's a grinding noise, and can't resolve a network comm. problem. Got to take back. When I say that I would not recommend, I mean I cannot rec. Best Buy because I do not believe their QA is in place from the production line, and packaging, to the sales staff. This is the second printer in 1 month. First one sold to me in store as wireless, was not Wi-Fi capable.

    A basic unpretentious monochrome personal laser printer that does one thing and does it well. We typically install it for users who create copious number of documents and do not want to schlep to the networked heavy duty, high quality printer every time they want to print a few pages to review offline. An added bonus is the ability to connect to the printer via Wi-Fi. Great ROI.

    The printer keeps going "offline" after printing through my network. The setup was not real user-friendly, but I muddled through and got it installed. I am an experienced, long-time technology user. Someone with little experience may have difficulty installing the driver to get the printer working.

    I bought it in Jan 2017 and barely used it. Now the paper feeder is not working and I can't make any print. The wifi receiver keeps disconnecting. Terrible, Terrible buy. This thing was supposed to be a solid buy. I had an old model from 2004 and it lasted me forever.

    Printer did not work from being new out of the box. Error light kept blinking and the rolls kept going. Called Best Buy and was told the internal components of the printer were broken. Not sure if this was a return as the printer did not have the normal stickers to remove before use.

    Difficulty installing Driver

    Had the most difficult time installing the driver for this printer. The provided cd driver and downloaded driver from the HP site did not work for this printer. Had to search online for a work around to install the printer. Took over a day to figure out the correct installation.

    This is an excellent compact laser printer! I returned a larger color MFC that had all kinds of whistles and bells, but ended up being a disappointment. If you only need a monochrome printer, this is the machine to have. I use another machine for copying and scanning as needed.
