This is a very good all-in-one color laserjet printer. Connected easily to our home wifi (Verizon Fios) and works with both our windows 10 based devices and macbook. The small footprint was extremely important for me given limited space and the M281fdw is one of the smallest color laser all-in-one's out there. I also tried the M281cdw sold elsewhere since HP told me it was the exact same machine, but for whatever reason this one works much better. Main drawback is toner is fairly expensive so if you have high volume I would look at other options.

I'm happy with the printer after a month. Installation was easy and quality of print good. My only complaint is the scanning from the printer's control pad to a Mac isn't an option. You can use the HP Easy Scan software to drive the scanning FROM the Mac but not the built-in firmware to scan from printer to Mac. HP provides a scan to network option but I am a computer professional and could not make it work after several hours and finally gave up.

The print quality is fantastic and the document feeder/scanner is the best I’ve seen in a long time! The scan process was so simple, I thought I did something wrong. I clicked the button to scan, and the papers just fed right through as if it wasn’t doing anything! However, I found that the documents were scanned perfectly at a very high resolution and showed up on the screen in seconds. This is a much simpler and faster process than any of the HP printers I’ve had in the past.
The printer was easy to set up! All I did was take it out of the box, put it on the table, pull off three pieces of tape, put in paper, and plug it in! It printed perfectly. The software set up was also incredibly easy. There is a simple link that I entered in the browser and clicked continue. From there the wizard detected the printer installed the software and printed a test page with just a couple mouse clicks. Set up went fast with no problems! I literally was printing from out of the box in less than 10 minutes!
This printer was definitely worth the money, And, I was surprised at the quality of the printing and scanning as well as the ease of set up for such an inexpensive color laser printer!
If you’re interested in a color laser printer that auto-duplex prints and scans then I do not think that you will be disappointed with this choice! It’s definitely worth looking into and I would definitely recommend it!

Really like the quality and speed of print in addition to it being easy to connect and taking up small space. The only real complaint is that it will not copy 2-sided to 2-sided (it DOES print 2-sided). Also, it goes to sleep sometimes and we have to reconnect - especially with Scan feature which sometimes requires opening the App on the computer instead of just putting it into the reader. Overall, however, it's a good value for a home-based laser printer.

The quality of prints is far better than ink and it doesn’t eat up your ink like inkjets do. Now this doesn’t take ink it takes toner. It works very well! Don’t think i’ll ever go back to ink. May cost a lot but will be well worth the money saved in ink down the road I would think because it will last longer without the printer eating it up when not in use. It’s easy to set up! No problems with connecting to computer or WiFi.

After being fed up with buying ink on a regular basis for my ink jet printer and the printer not working correctly at the most inconvienent time, I decided to upgrade to a laser printer. This printer was easy to set up, is reliable, and easy on ink. The print outs are crisp and clear and fast. I am very happy with this printer and do not regret spending the additional money.

I purchased this printer for my mother who’s very technology challenged. I’d often get a call asking how to print something I emailed her, even though I’ve shown her several times. This printer makes some of those questions disappear.
Setup was fairly easy. One gripe is the small LCD screen. It’s 2018, but the small screen makes it seem like it’s 2005! Using the screen, I connect the printer to the WiFi network. I also setup the e-print functionality. This allows me to email a document she needs printed directly to the printer and like magic, it’ll print. No more printing questions! This was my primary reason for choosing HP. I’m not sure if other brands have this feature. I haven’t tried Google cloud print, it might be similar in functionality.
Once the printer was setup, I was able to print from the MacBook immediately. What took me a few minutes to figure out was the AirPrint. The new printer wasn’t showing up as an option in my phone or iPad. I tried rebooting printer as well, nothing. Then I toggled off Airplane mode and voila! The printer showed up when I went to print.
I find the print quality to be excellent. Overall features include scanner, print and copy functions.
Great printer, not too big, does what I need it to do.

I have always used an HP Printer and have never been disappointed. This LaserJet provides very good quality print in either black and white or colour. It was easy to set up utilizing the wifi feature. Also allows me to print from my smart devices. Very pleased with this printer.

This printer does not do 2sided to 2 sided you have to turn page over shame on a $400 machine. Scan function has issues, does not always feed properly, touch screen is pure junk, worse I have ever used. You can break a finger trying to get it to work. So if you are scanning or copying you pretty much have to do it on the computer.
It does simple printing fine. Quality of print jobs look fine. Have not used fax function yet.
Glad I bought the extended warranty, can't see this thing lasting beyond 2 years.

In general, the printer is significantly better than the inkjet printer it replaces. Good quality scans and prints, and fast for the price. It is also solidly build. It was really easy to set up to use on our laptop, desktop, as well as iPads. I LIKE IT!!!!!
Now, for some annoying issues...... when photocopying or scanning, the DISPLAY screen is about 1/2 inch too close to the start of the scanning point. I keep bumping into it when performing these functions. It’s annoying. Also, I’ve had the printer jam when photocopying on very thin gauge paper. I don’t think many printers would do well in this task either, but the process of unjamming the printer takes some time. Oh well....
In summary, I would recommend this printer but would rate it a 3.5, it’s just because these annoying issues. HP can probably modify the design in the newer models.

I have only had this printer operating for a couple of weeks but it makes good copies both from the copier function and the printer function. I have not yet used the FAX feature. But the scans provide a clear image. It is easy to understand and use...very intuitive so it is easy to use. One thing I have experienced is when I put in a heavier paper stock to use with the printer function the machine made a terrible "grinding" noise as if it was in need of some oil. It almost sounded like metal on metal. But when I changed out the paper to the regular copier paper that stopped(?) The printer is a bit louder than other HPs I have had but not really that bothersome to me. I will be monitoring the "grinding" noise as I use the printer for a longer period of time. From my research this model got a favorable rating from various consumer reviewers so I hope it will hold up well over time. It is very versatile, compact footprint, easy to use and reasonably priced. (Got it on sale during Black Friday event.)

It is pretty easy to use and does everything we need. The prints are good quality and I had no trouble printing from Apple devices wirelessly. AirPrint works good. Color is okay. You need glossy paper and mess with the settings if you want photo prints. For every day color, it is fine.
