    Headache!

Ok, so I wanted to upgrade my small HP 4650 Series because it's been over 3 years with this printer and something is going on with the scanner feeder to where it catches too many papers at once or it jams while trying to feed the documents. I mainly scan papers smaller than 8.5x11 as they are tickets from loads that our business receives on the daily basis. I thought the price range, scanning capabilities, paper output, ink usage and warranty would make up for the oohs and aahs of this all in one printer...well no! As soon as I installed it I saw that the printer did not have a feature for "scan to computer" as it has wireless capabilities, that was not available. Ok, so I decided to try to set up a shared folder so that my documents can be scanned to my network folder, I had issues for 2 days trying to set up the network folder step by step with assisting you tube videos and still was not successful. I tried to chat with the HP online help but had no success. Yes, I set up this printer to the wireless network, yes my computer was online, yes I met all the requirements for my OS, yes I can follow directions, but if this crap is not going to work the first few days that I've had it, I'm going to return it! Another issue, I finally found a way to scan documents to my computer and that was by using the HP scanner app on my Mac, ok I had seen it's functions before, but never thought that I had to deal with the manual labor of scanning documents to my laptop. First, it only scanned a few pages then gave me an error that there was a lost communication with the printer, second it said that there was a document stuck in the feeder and to remove it...fine, I took out the paper that was in the middle of being scanned and it said that there was a paper jam to lift up the feeder and so on. Ok, no paper stuck and no trash found as this was BRAND NEW! This printer may be worth it if you do not use the scanner function or just scan one paper through the lift option of the scanner, not the feeder. OMG, $319 with a 2 year warranty is not enough for me to keep fiddling with it as I needed a printer since 2 weeks ago, I'll just plug in my older printer and deal with it for tonight. I'll be returning this and searching for maybe just a stand alone scanner.

    Prints and scans crooked!

Well, Let me first say that I am not some computer and tech Luddite that can't work a piece of technology. I am very familiar with components, etc. etc. This printer is junk. I really hate to say, because i researched it, bought one and had full confidence in the company and the product. My first inclination that something was wrong was when I made a scan and it was crooked. I made another. Same thing. I then did some google searches, as one might. I learned that some seem to have had alleged success with entering an intentionally hidden secondary menu and calibrating the scanner. I tried that, no luck. I called HP's tech support. They informed me that this machine has a 1mm printing variance for "crooked" variance and a 1mm to 3mm variance for scanning. Therefore, if you print a document that you later intend to scan (like a doctors appointment sheet or something else), you may well have, within variance, an up to 4mm crooked document. I indeed did. After much testing with the tech, he agreed to send out a tech to look at the printer and replace the scanning bar. There was little to no improvement. So I headed back over to Best Buy (where I purchased it) and exchanged it for a Cannon. PROS: Fast printing, relatively quiet, great software CONS: Very unprofessional printing and scanning, text is not very crisp (definitely not near as much as I expected an HP to be, especially for being dubbed a "business" printer). ALL IN ALL: Don't bother with this machine. Their on-site tech said they have a ton of issues with the automatic document feeder because the roller bar is too small and the scanner bar is of very low quality.

I wrote a review but it never got published for some reason. This printer has major drawbacks and problems. First, they have switched to a lower melt temperature toner, so you cannot print anything with this printer, and then expect to put that sheet through another laser printer - such as when we print logos and letterhead on blank sheets first, then print the invoice or data onto the pre-printed sheet. Second, you can't print a standard UPS label without changing settings on the printer - this is something my old Brother printer did automatically and is a real disappointment. Third, the scanner feed simply won't pull paper through straight, so if you scan multiple sheets and use the auto feeder, they all scan crooked, no matter what you do with the paper guides. So disappointing after spending HOURS researching the best printer to replace my old one. Now I think I have to return this one

    Not Friendly With Mac

I loved this printer.... to begin with. It printed beautifully, quickly, and it knew which tray I wanted to print to just by sensing where the paper was. I own a preschool and copies/prints are a huge part of my business. Everything seemed to be perfect! For two days. Then I started getting an error message: "Unable to print. File is corrupt." Suddenly I couldn't print ANYTHING. After much research, I realized that this error message was due to the fact that I was printing from my Mac with the latest updates. Apparently, it is a very common problem for Mac users. None of the suggested fixes solved the problem, and because the printer was all but useless to me, I returned it. The problem does not appear to occur with Windows computers, so hopefully, this is something HP can get fixed for future Mac owners. I really did love this printer's features and was sad that it didn't work for me.

I replaced my 3 year old Epson color inkjet printer which was still running like a champ with this heavy; now hunk of junk. I used the printer to print a few color reports and not more than an hour later the entire thing died on me. checked the plugs checked all the wiring. The printer hasn't moved an inch since I placed it on day of set up. I purchased this product on April 26th and it is now June 22nd. This expensive paperweight didn't even last 2 months. I called customer service about it and all they did was direct me to HP customer service and say I could buy another $400 printer and use the new one while this one is being fixed...... why not just exchange the thing in store for me..... Id give this thing 0 stars if I could. I thought HP would be a little better than this.

    Giant Paper Weight

Wow, after my brother color MFP software went bad, I thought I would try HP. What a bad decision that was to go with the giant paper weight. First, you get the printer home and it acts like it will work great. You download all the software online and it prints great and hooks up to the WIFI like it should. After that setting up the scanner via a network folder (Which is like assembling IKEA furniture in the dark) it will work for a short time. But hold on, then you update your computer and everything gets lost. No longer will it scan to the folder and is now unable to connect even when the test passes online for the network folder. Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone who owns a computer worth it weight (Apple). I just bought a paper weight when it comes to a scanner.

Does not work with Windows 10

This is a great printer but it does not work with Windows 10. It works great with my MAC but after over 8 hours with HP support I have not been able to get it to work with Windows 10. Was told that HP is having a lot of issues with Windows 10. My boss and I both purchased this printer to use with our new Window 10 laptops and both experiencing the same problems. HP has told me that they are having issues with their software working with Windows 10. Since Windows 10 has been out for over a year it does not look like HP is trying to resolve the issue. If you are using Windows 10, I highly recommend purchasing another printer.

I was able to quickly add the printer to my wireless network, but the latest driver package from HP's website couldn't find the printer for setup. There is an option to add the printer by IP address so I tried to print the built-in network configuration report from the printer itself. It sat for 30 minutes showing "Printing Document" on the display, but nothing ever came out. I sat on hold with HP Support for 30 minutes, being told that my call was very important, but no one ever came on the line to help. I put all of the parts back into the box and returned it. Not worth the hassle.

MFP M477 fnw - aka BOAT ANCHOR!

Caveat Emptor on this "device". Spent one week trying to get any aspect of it to work - Replacing perfectly good but old Brother MFC to compliment new HP Windows 10 Omen. 20 Hours of my life I will never get back dealing with Service Error 49 and Fatal Error 200. Nothing worked and HP Support was useless. I suspect bad motherboard ... will give HP a chance to replace that and make it right - if not 50lbs of boat anchor back to Best Buy. PS: This device does not support Dual Band Routers - you must first download current firmware upgrade so it will at least work at 2.4Ghz in the presence of 5Ghz. Good luck with the rest ....

I was all excited to upgrade from my ink jet all in one. I wish I never had. This thing is a major pain. It won't duplex without taking the pages out and replacing them in the tray. There's no way to run multiple docs as duplex. You have to do them one at a time. It won't auto feed (I have to press a button for each job). It took me an hour to figure out how to scan.... Everything about this printer is hard. All the online help I could find in several hours of searching has been unable to help me make this work as seamlessly as my $100 all in one. I'll just use it until the toner has been consumed, then I'm throwing it away!

I do not like to write a bad comment but this time I feel like i have too. I've been a big fan of HP printer for a long time. I had a few HP printer in the past. But this product isn't delivering the result that HP advertises. Simply put, the printer bleed the color on the side of the paper. I reset and used the cleaned app several times but it doesnt work. I went down to the Bestbuy store in Pasadena. The HP rep recommended that it's cheaper to buy a new one. I hope HP reach out to me and we can discuss.

If you have Windows 10, don't buy this printer. Spent 2.5 hours trying to get it to install, called HP Support and the tech support guy admitted it their standard setup won't work with Win 10 and I need to install a separate scan program and some universal drivers. Did that and printer still is not recognized. HP must have taken a stop backwards again. Returning this printer and another HP printer I bought.

This by far the worst Color printer I owned , all photos prints are grainy and dark, I use Photo shop for my brochures. Called HP and spent hours on the phone and at the end they want me to contact Photo shop blaming the problem on the Software which I've been using with other printers problem like in not the problem with the HP printer. Best Buy will not take the printer back because I'm couple of days pass their return policy. Now I've put the printer on for sale with a big loss.

By HP's own admission, this printer isn't up to speed. We have a 5 ghz router on ATT they told me was too fast for the printer and we'd need to downgrade. They also said there's an issue with Windows 10 where it can't connect to the printer. Buy this if and only if you don't have those two things then you will have a great machine at a great price. I wasted time and money messing with this. Kind of wish Best Buy gave me the heads up but that's likely why the price is so good.

I HATE this printer- It will not stay on the network to save my butt- I have re-installed it numerous times- I can use it one minute and it's fine, 2 minutes later, it won't connect- not to mention that for scanning.......you cannot use the feeder tray, you have to scan one at a time. Half the time I cannot get the fax to work either- now it prints well and fast, when it works------I'm not a newbie

Love the print quality and the speed of the scanner. Unfortunately, it won't print or scan very often. I have had about 5 customer support phone calls, they get it back online and it works until I try it again. They said it was the internet provider, but it wasn't. They said it was the router, but it wasn't. I am beyond frustrated with this expensive printer.

I own a Macbook Pro, and this printer is absolutely the WORST!!!!! It prints great. However, sometimes it takes half an hour to print anything over ten pages. It has glitches that are not improved by HP. Their high tech answer is turn it off and pull the power plug out of the wall and wait five minutes. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. You will be sorry.........

Hello, thank you for taking the time to submit a review, I appreciate your feedback and I am sorry for all the inconvenience caused. A User Intervention Required message displays on the computer, and the printer does not print. The issue might be caused by a printer error condition, corrupted print jobs, or a weak printer wireless connection. Setting up the manual IP address connection is a more direct method of communicating to the printer. Remember HP Support is always there to fix all your issues. By far the worst automatic feeder of any printer I have ever used. Bought one, would not scan one single file correctly. Took it back, exchanged it (anyone can get a lemon). Fed the first ten files flawlessly, then all heck broke loose. Never fed another correctly. Took it back. Bought an Epson scanner. Has never burped once........ yet.
