Why would a printer be available without the capability to print on both sides of the page in this digital-happy age? I didn't dig too deep into the details of this printer, but I am surprised and extremely disappointed this printer does offer double sided printing (duplex printing). I went into the store and asked an associate for help finding a color laser printer that could connect wirelessly and could scan/copy, I was given a few options. I had my small children with me so I didn't have the time to get all the details about the printer, but was not informed it is only a one sided printer. Otherwise, I am happy with the printer and have used older models of this printer at work.

While this m477fnw is an impressive machine, PLEASE be very careful to order other unit with slightly different number m477fdw if you want wireless auto-duplex. I returned the m477fnw and followed guidance to buy an m477fdn that is auto-duplex but NOT WIRELESS! Huge bummer. Returned it and now waiting for m477fdw that is both auto-duplex and wireless. Of course it's all my fault, but I surely would have appreciated some better guidance thru the process and it's a waste of packing and refurbishing for HP that I opened and installed and returned two super high quality printers that operated properly but I simply had poor retail assistance in selecting the correct unit. ..... Alas, entropy is pervasive and life is just inefficient! However, Best Buy was super helpful, polite, and cooperative in accepting my returns of each unit.

This is my second one, the first one developed a problem while printing, it would drop a faint dot on the page about 6x down each page. I update all HP drivers and MS drivers and it did not fix it. I bought the Geek Squad warranty and returned it to the store almost one year later and had no problem. The Geek squad gave me the same new model in the box and I purchased the extended warranty again. It was worth it and this one works perfect. I would recommend a Geek Squad warranty when spending for a pricey printer. 3 stars for the first printer but 5 stars for the Geek Squad Warranty and second HP printer.

Hp makes a pretty good all in one printer. I had the previous printer of this same model. It lasted 6 years or so. Had this one for a little over a year. About 5 months in any time I printed in color it would leave colored streaks on the paper (still using the ink that came with printer). Ink is very expensive so I’ve decided it’s cheaper just to replace the whole printer. As long as it’s on sale for the $365. I’ve fried the aftermarket print cartridges and it’s just not worth it!!!!

We took multiple visits to Best Buy to work with there staff to get the printer to print from my Android Note 4. No issues with I Phone as it is designed to work on this printer. We tried to get Geek Squad support; wanted to charge $50. So we brought the printer back. Worked with HP rep who was not able to resolve. Did get good support from the Samsung desk and she was able to get us to print off of Android. Had issues with Geek Squad support in store. They will not spend the time to resolve issues. Printer works great now; the process was long and the support was average at best. HP support guy was clueless.

Online documentation says that this unit does double-sided printing...nope! That was the whole reason that I bought this one, but it definitely DOES NOT print on both sides and does not have an option to buy the additional tray to allow it to print on both sides. Customer service was less that helpful even thought I pointed out what was stated on website. Print quality is great, but I really only wanted the unit because of double sided printing...disappointed

I really wanted to give this 5 stars when I bought it. But it's just ok. Prints slow for a laser. Doesn't print front and back, you have to manually flip the paper. Print quality is just ok. I really wanted to unpack a great printer for a good price, but instead I got an ok printer at a fair price. As with all printers, the ink cartridges that come with it are less than half full, so you will need to spend an additional $$$$ in the near future for full ink cartridges.

Good quality prints and fast print/scan/copy. Printing from MS Edge browser (Win 10) makes it unresponsive; no easy way to make it work again (even restarting won't help); you have to restart the spooling services from "Services" setting of Windows 10. Scan resolution is very low for such a highly priced item. My 10-yr old cheap Brother MFC had twice as much resolution in each direction. After scanning a few photos with sub-par results, I have to keep my old printer just for scanning.

    No Duplex Printing

    Posted
    Corwin

Every aspect of this printer seems great EXCEPT there is no automatic duplex printing (despite the printer NOT being filtered out on the Best Buy website when I selected "Double-Sided Printing). Apparently I did not do enough homework on this before pulling the trigger, but am returning it now that I found out it does not print double-sided automatically. If you want duplexing, purchase the MFP m477fdw model.

    Manual Duplex ONLY

Was happy with this printer until we started coming home from remote printing to discover the printer asking us to manually feed for duplex printing. After researching we have realized that this printer does not automatically print double sided prints. We have to stand there and feed the paper back in. Looks like we will be wasting a lot of paper going forward. As a note to Best Buy--the description says it prints duplex but doesn't specify that it's manual only.

Everything is great about this printer except the ADF will not feed the paper straight. It is just slightly askew that doesn't provide a professional look. So, I am forced to sue the flatbed and do individual pages. I may return it but I have a feeling it is in the design of the product. I am using good expensive paper stock and even tried different ones. The guides are set correctly. Just nothing can correct the problem. HP support said to return it.

Decent Printer, Toner WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

While the Printer's print quality was good, it not definitely not outstanding. One would expect a Laser Printer to printer with a higher DPI than this one. If it can scan at a high quality DPI, it should have the same DPI for printing. A Decent HP Officejet Pro InkJet Printer can print with a higher DPI quality than this Laserjet printer. The high output HP inkjet ink's will also outlast (number of prints) the laserjet's high output laser toner.

    Office use-WiFi trouble

We bought this for our office use and print any where between 15-75 pages weekly. It prints great! The only problem is the inconsistent WiFi printing. When it comes to printing from our phones and laptops, it just doesn’t do it seemlessly as the model before it. I have to keep hooking the usb cord up to it instead of wirelessly printing. I’m Disappointed!

I have owned many HP inkjets, time to step up to laser. I am disappointed at the few preference settings for how/where to save scans, which I do frequently. Can’t set default to pdf, can’t set default folder, these things have to be set manually with each scan, didn’t have to do this on my inkjets. Haven’t returned as the printer is acceptable and I don’t have time to research, but I expected more from HP.

I bought this to replace a business class color laser that was on its last legs as my daughter was getting married and we had to print a lot of things and budget was tight. Prints well my only complaint it the touch screen is not very good. It's small for my large fingers and doesn't always respond to a push on an icon. If that doesn't bother you it prints fine for a budget color laser.

I really liked this printer, but now considering taking it back, the printer prints awesome but after a while it goes into “sleep mode” and the only way to get it out of this mode is to turn it off then back on, it gets kind of annoying after a while and after talking to HP no real way to turn that “Feature” off. So if your printing WiFi this might not be the printer for you!

I wanted to replace my user unfriendly Canon multifunctioncolor laser printer with and HP due to my experience with prior HP printers but was disappointed. The specifications provided misled buyers into thinking the duplexing was automatic but it is a manual feed. Likewise the automatic document feeder does not assist with scanning.

Not one thing in box that tells me how to use it. I set it to print double sided but it doesn’t. I go on line for HP help and for add like $. they will help me, NO I will not pay for help on a new printer! The printer I purchased is pictured above, why would I have to give you another one?

Slow, worked ok the first 4 months but now my toner cartridges keep blowing toner dust everywhere and the copies are coming out horrible. I’ve contacted the toner company and tried different toner, but it still happens.

Overall, I like this printer. Although it mentions it can print 2-sided, you must manually place the page back into the printer for it to work— which is the reason for 3/5 stars. Other than that, it prints nice images and it’s fast!
