Easy, Fast, Quiet, Low-operating-cost Last Printer

This is a fast two-sided printer that you want if you're looking to save money in terms of cost per page. For one, it comes with about 5,000 pages worth of toner included. Manufacturer brand toner sells for about 1/2 a penny per page, the lowest price I've seen on brand name toner. Also, when you're printing, if you select to print two sided (this printer has a duplexer built in, meaning it will flip the page for you and print on the other side) you'll save on paper too -- that's a convenience because you'll be running for refill of supplies less often. Because it's not a color printer, you won't have to manage buying refills on 4 different colors (CMYK), just one toner supply and you're good to go. I connected this printer to WiFi with WPS push button setup (though I have an ethernet cable nearby available and may switch to that), which sadly my Eero network does not support, but my cable modem's WiFi router does support it (and the networks are in bridged mode, which means the printer will be accessible to both networks). The printer is very small, which was perfect for where I had in mind to place it (on a shelf in the living room near the TV). When I first turned it on, there was a long warm up cycle where there was a clicking noise which initially made me worry. However, after I printed a couple of pages, future operations with the printer didn't seem to continue that sound, to be complete i will say the printer is super quiet when it prints as far as laser printers go. I printed several e-mails from my android phone to test it, the phone detected the printer automatically, easy. MacOS also detected the printer automatically, and when I printed a 9 page e-mail with lots of large photos, the printer printed very fast (recall, it's a monochrome printer, so everything's black and white) and two sided by default. My windows PC also autodetected the printer and printed easily. And my iPad just showed me the printer in a list of printers. This is not my first Tank-based HP Laser printer, and my earlier one, which is about 2 years old, is still running strong. I am passing my last one over to another family member and they were happy to get it, most notably when finding out how cheap the toner was.

I have never had the opportunity to have a laser printer at home. This one has exceeded any expectations I had. The set up was SO easy. I think I had it ready to go from box to printing in less than 10 minutes. The new HP toner tank system really takes the hassle out of resupplying. After you perform the standard HP printer setup which in my opinion is one of the easiest printer setups available, you will immediately have the ability to print high-quality two-sided black and white pages as fast as you can hit the print button. The easily accessible paper tray can hold up to 250 pages and easily converts to an envelope feeder or whatever custom-size paper you would like to print on. Have only used for a couple weeks, but hopefully the toner will last as long as the box says. After about 5 minutes to get it configured and set up, I was able to print! It prints quickly, and efficiently. I love that it automatically does it double sided too! It works great with a paper feeder that is easy to load including any size of paper that you need to use. It fits nicely in the corner of my L-shaped desk. I also enjoy not having to refill the toner cartridge regularly. What I really appreciate about this printer is the speedy rate at which it prints documents, even when double sided. I feel like printers were going in the wrong direction with high-cost refills that created a lot of waste but his new system is great for the consumer and the environment! I love that it is compact and doesn't take up a lot of space. It prints quickly and connect to wifi was effortless. The one thing I didn't like about this printer is that it only prints in black. If that could be something that could be changed or upgraded then it would be an awesome product to use for all your printing needs. If you print for work and things are normally in black and white this would be the perfect printer.

I'm partial to laser printers, so keeping that in mind I'm going to say a lot of flattering things. Doesn't make them any less true. Obviously right out of the box it's easy to connect either wired or wirelessly. Just about anything is as long as it's got a beeper like display. You can connect anything to anything. I am a wired guy but in this case this particular printer is going in partners office so we hooked it up via Wi-Fi. Didn't take very long. Furthermore, we went ahead and signed up for the HP automatic refills. It's very convenient and you don't have to drop by the store for ink, the drawback is if you're a Best Buy points member such as myself, you don't get the points per purchase but you do get the convenience. And don't forget this is an option. Option. The printer itself, it's a LaserJet. There's nothing else to say about it. It's up. It's awesome and it gets the job done. Right out of the gate printing out pages pretty fast. Seamless and not a lot of noise. One really cannot ask more of a printer. Nice. Simple to the point. Nothing over the top.

HP’s Tank-Based Laser Printers Keep Getting Better

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’ll start by saying that this review will differ, compared to my usual style. This is primarily because I’m certain others will cover the things I usually do, and will (more than likely) be written by those who’ve never owned a tank-based laser printer. Instead, I will focus on differences, and improvement, when compared to my two other HP LaserJet printers – the Neverstop 1001nw (another tank-based laser), and LaserJet Pro M404n (a ‘traditional’ laser). Like the Neverstop, 1001nw, the LaserJet Tank 2504dw uses a refillable toner tank, which is designed to be a more cost-effective (and FAR less messy) way of “replacing” toner. As with tank-based inkjet printers, this lowers the overall operating costs. However, with HP’s updated technology, the new 2504dw has a drum that will last longer. Both (unlike the M404n) have duplex printing…but, the new 2504dw prints slightly faster than the 1001nw (23ppm vs 21ppm), and starts printing faster (7.9sec vs 8.4sec). note that the M404n is still faster (42ppm & 6.1sec). Connectivity is almost the same as the 1001nw, except that the 2504dw adds 802.11a & BLE (of which the 1001nw doesn’t have…and, the M404n is Ethernet only). One of the best updates is the increased internal memory (64MB vs 32MB on the 1001nw…but, the M404n has 256MB). Additionally, the 2504dw is smaller, and lighter, than its 1001nw predecessor. Monthly cycle between these two has also been increased (20K vs 25K). Compared to the M404n, the 2504dw can’t keep up…but, at the same time, the M404n is discontinued, and its replacement (the 4001n) is considerably more expensive (over $100 more). As such, the 1001nw is a more “accurate” comparison. While the 1001nw is also discontinued (what would you expect for something that came out two years ago???), the new 2504dw is better in so many ways. FINAL VERDICT: When the Neverstop 1001nw was released two years ago, I said it was an “excellent choice”…especially for home users, and those with small (ie. home-based) businesses. I stand by what I said then, and it still holds true today…but, if I were to be given a choice between the 1001nw (new, factory sealed) at $100 off its original price, and the new 2505dw at its regular price, I’d have no problem spending more for the 2504dw. If you need a ‘workhorse’ laser printer, by all means, get a LaserJet Pro (almost any model). But, if you need a laser printer for home use…and, more importantly, if you don’t want to deal with the mess of replacing toner cartridges…then HP’s line of LaserJet Tank printers is for you. I’m not saying you need to get the 2504dw, as there are several ‘Tank’ models available. While I have the 2504dw, I’m equally sure that the other ‘Tank’ models are equally good. HP continues to make improvements in their ‘Tank’ printers, and that’s a huge “plus” for anyone wanting/needing a laser printer.

    Crank out documents

Just to get it out of the way, this printer is not an all-in-one. This also prints ONLY black. For those who just need a simple printer that needs to truly crank out thousands of text pages, this should be on your short list. This has the benefits of a laser printer. Sure, it has a higher upfront cost than ink printers but instead you get much more bang-for-buck in that you don't have to keep buying ink. In addition, they are WAY faster and still maintain crisp text. There is no ink bleeding So if you need a workhorse printer for documents in your office, laser printers are definitely the way to go. Out of the box, the HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw feels solid. I was pleased with the build quality. The printer is very easy to set up. The included instructions made it very easy for a layman. You add toner from a bottle and you should be good to go. It is able to do two-sided printing which was a Godsend for me. Save paper and time. No manual feeding it after printing one-side. The speed I would say was good. I was getting around the advertised 23 ppm. The print quality was also good. I was using it for mainly documents and I was pleased with the quality. Text was crisp and sharp without any bleeding. All in all, for an office workhorse, I would look at the HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw.

    Great budget printer!

Great budget printer! If you are looking for a low cost, easy to maintain, basic black and white laser printer you have found it! Out of the box it was very easy to set up. I literally unpacked it and plugged it into my computer and Windows did the rest. It installed the drivers and all the necessary software and I was printing in less than 5 minutes after I opened the box! If you struggle with technology, I can guarantee you’ll have no problem with this printer! It even asked me if I wanted to connect it to my wifi and set that connection up for me as well. This printer has pretty much everything you could need. Has a nice big input tray (250 pages). It prints relatively fast (up to 23ppm) and has automatic 2-sided printing to help save paper. One of the other things I love about this printer is there is no more toner cartridges! You just buy toner ant put it right in the tank to refill it. This will save a bunch of unnecessary stuff from going in our landfills! Checking prices, it looks like it will be a LOT cheaper than having to buy toner cartridges as well. I found the print quality to be great. Its obviously not a photo printer, but its great for everyday documents or for an office printer. It has a max resolution of 600dpi which is more than enough for printing everyday documents. There is also an app which allows you to do remote printing so if you want to send something to your printer while you are out of the office you can easily do that and your printed copy will be waiting for you when you get back! HP has always put out quality printers and I have had many of them in my lifetime. I know this printer will give you many years of worry-free use! Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a budget office or home black and white printer!

My run down of this Black and white tank style printer 1. Very easy to setup. Even so much that I was surprised how easy it was. The tank comes prefilled which is a bonus. Refill should be pretty interesting. The cost of the replacement ink tanbk is very low. HP has the tank high yield below 30 dollars. 2. The printer was a breeze to set up for my WIFI network. Its best to download the HP program to get the best usage. I also can choose between this ande my color laser jet printer with ease. Because that is also an HP. I use this printer for simple word doc and items that I know don't need to be in color. I tend to print out PDF of repair guides for cars. So having a fast printer is something I honest love about it. 3. I used my app to print off items directly from my phone which is amazing. It prints in real time so what ever I print is ready for me once I get to my printer. I use it when I want a hard copy of a receipt that I Get emailed to me. The app once set up allows for remote printing also. I have been over seas and printed something just to test it. 1 Con I must say. It is only a Black and white printer so it will try to print color items in gray scale so I would warn against using it for lighter color since it will print in light gray scale.

Entry level laser printer not sure it can be beat

If you looking for a small entry level laser print not sure you can find any product that will out preform or be cheaper in the long run. The small footprint of the print makes it great for a home office or any desk that is space constrained. It's a breeze to set up with the new app that HP uses for there entire eco system of printers - if you've set one up this will be the same process. I've used mine in a office and tied it to usb connection on my computer so I can only use some of the features when I in the same location however everything work just as you would expect. As for as the print quality it's as good as any other laser I've use. Print really well on the low grade paper that you can buy at any big box store and does a decent job with envelopes, remove the paper to change is a bit of a bother but at this price point that's to be expected. I have not had the chance to check out HP's claim of 2 years of towner in the box (I think it 5K sheets) however after running it through several test and print cycles I can't determine if there is any noticeable use of toner so I would have to say that there is a significant amount of toner provided. that being said being able to get a refill around $17 make it a get deal. That's in line with what I would pay for a inkjet cartage and a far site less than what i pay for toner cartridges in my HP CP1025. Over all this is a great little laser printer. If your in the market for a laser printer - make sure you know the difference's between laser and ink jet - you won't be disappointed

HP laserjet Thank 2504 dw Printer is a great all simple printer only. Overall set up took about 15 mins. Setup via Google play app store was pretty easy and quick. I set it up on all of our mobile phones so that everyone can use this for bulk printing and usage. WiFi setup was fast. USB printing on PC was good. Printing was super fast. Laser super fast. Resolution was really good. My kids have school projects and it spit out the material in black and white pretty fast and clear. Physical Color of white is nice and modern. Size is good does not take too big of a foot print. Ink use is great. It came preloaded and after printing a bunch of my kids material it did not even make a dent in the levels. I have had many HP printers before and they have all done well. This is no exception. Great job HP. This will be our new central black and white for printing. I would recommend this for work from home and kids homework etc. If you want a simple black and white with huge Toner Capacity this is for you. Only con is that in the past I have had issues with their software and Android not being compatible all the time. I figured it out but it took a while. This printer was fine during my review but other products that have been around have given me compatibility issues for a short time.

I'm giving this a big star ding for requiring an HP Smart account. I really don't want to have to sign up and log into my printer just to print things. When you use the HP Smart app, you are required to create an account to access photos or documents on your phone. The installation process is trying to be as easy as possible but falls short because of the HP account requirement. Gone are the days of just plugging in a USB cable and using Windows Add Device to setup a printer. Today it's download the app and make an account and we will detect and setup the printer for you. The prints are laser jet quality black and white prints and as expected, are super-clear and smudge proof. The tank comes pre-loaded with black ink for a life expectation of around 2 years of use before you have to refill and refills are supposed to take only 15 secs! The time saved having factory-filled ink is really negated by the time it takes to install the printer and sign up for an account. That means in theory that you must have an internet connection to use this printer (at least for setup) as the printer must be "activated" to use and that is not always ideal. I would like to see the option added for opting out of an account. I appreciate the smartness of the smart printers and see what HP is trying to do but at least give me the option to use my printer the way I'd like to and if I need the smarts, I'll come to you.

The HP LaserJet Tank 2504dw is a wireless Black-and-White Laser Printer that comes standard with 2 years' worth of printing toner. You will have to set up your new printer via app and set up an HP Smart account. You will need an internet connection for the setup process. I found the printing capability to be of great quality. Clear fast printing was the norm. I did not experience any paper jams during regular printing as well as printing some addresses on envelopes. Ink was dry to the touch as soon as the page was finished printing. When I first unpacked the printer, I was worried that the "depth" of the 15.4 inches might have been too long for my printer shelf. As it turns out, the printer which it replaced had a similar footprint even though it had an internal paper tray. Needless to say, crisis averted. Printing and scanning are the only two options with this product. It does not have faxing or copying capabilities. As far as I'm concerned, faxing is not something that I routinely need to do but I do on occasion have to copy a document. I guess the work-around for coping is taking a taking a picture of my document and emailing it to myself. The second option was for me to scan the document with my iPhone and print it. The manufacturer boasts of a print speed of 23 pages per minute. I did find this to be true during my testing of this product, as it is quite fast. What I enjoyed most was the mobile printing capability, as I always seem to need to print something from my iPhone 13 Pro. This printer is workhorse. It is quite easy to set up, prints really good-looking documents, it has both wireless and wired capabilities and works well. I have no real complaints.

The printer replaced an hp laser jet 1300 I had for many years that finally bit the dust. The size is perfect for my home office and so far is working as expected, and I like the idea of a refillable toner set up. My only suggestion to HP would be to supply a USB cable for those who do not prefer to go with a wifeless connection, which would cost HP pennies.
