Many appreciate its compact size and straightforward setup process, while some find the paper tray design and price to be less satisfactory. We—the two students and remote workers of our household—ordered this printer to assist with screen burnout and note taking on long articles and reports. We had chosen this model for its simplicity (it needs to serve one purpose: print black and white pages efficiently) and wireless printing feature… and so far its' done it's job well. It's also compact enough to fit in a shelf. Would recommend for anyone who needs to print many pages for review or to save their eyes.

Quiet laser printer with a small footprint

I picked up this Neverstop 1001nw as a replacement for a shared family color inkjet printer that was at the end of its life. My home office has both a high-end color laser printer and color inkjet printer so I just needed something for the family upstairs to be able to do some general-purpose printing. What drew me to this printer is their claim of up to 5000 pages of printing right out of the box. I've only had it for a couple of weeks so we'll need to validate that claim later. Setup was super simple and super quick. It took me all of 15 minutes to get it put together and plugged in. The printer has a really small footprint which is perfect for what I need and where I need to put it. It took me about 5 minutes to get it connected to my wifi network using the included USB cable plugged into my MacBook Air. Configuration was done via browser wizard. Printing is quick, the printer runs really quiet, and the print quality is what I would expect for a laser printer of this complexity and at this price point.

Go with a known brand - HP. I tried a color ink replenish thing from Brother and it was a dud. Too complicated. When i saw "Neverstop" I knew this was the printer for me. i'd always used HPS and they are plug-and-go. SOOOO easy to connect with wifi on all devices. Most of the time i just need a hard copy. Just print, please.

Quality Document Printing with Few Cons

The HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw is a black and white printer, great size - fits nicely on my desk, great for printing documents, essays, and anything that doesn’t involve needing color. Document/text printing quality looks great. The blacks are deep and this printer offers good greys as well. I did print some photos from a word document and they had banding on them so I do not recommend this printer for printing photos even just on regular paper. Setting up this printer via the provided USB cable worked quickly. I wasn’t able to troubleshoot the printer to establish a wireless connection on my desktop even after connecting it to my network via the HP Smart app. It is possible my router isn’t close enough to the printer. The USB connection works great, though I was hoping I didn’t have to use up one of my USB slots on my desktop computer. This HP printer did not need any software to print. It’s connected to a Mac. The literature that comes with the printer suggests the HP Smart app for mobile devices, and you may also need to get HP Print Service Plugin app. Setup on mobile only took a few minutes and printing via mobile was quick. Upon connecting HP Smart through to my Google Drive, I found I cannot print Google Docs, but I can print PDFs. A couple of things I didn’t like about the printer itself, unrelated to the printing quality: the paper tray cover and the noise level. - The paper tray cover isn’t the easiest to put on and when it’s time to add paper, the cover piece has come off all the way. I’m used to printers having a pull out drawer tray or a lift top but the cover has to be removed all the way when adjusting the paper in the tray. - I did find this printer to be noisy, it makes a grinding sound when it starts printing. It’s possible that this is unique to the one I got. Overall, this printer does it’s job. I’m docking two stars for the few cons I found: trouble with wireless connection, noise level while printing, and extraneous paper tray cover. But at the end of the day the printing quality is what’s most important and this delivers good quality.

Compact, Great Prints, Easy Set Up, Economical

Pros: * Compact and attractive design. * Very cost-effective and easy toner refill. * Extremely easy wireless setup. * Clear toner level display on front. * Basic but useful control panel. * Wired and wireless networking. Cons: * Odd paper cover makes it difficult to see input paper level. My Review: This is a really nice mid-duty monochrome networked printer. There aren’t a ton of frills; no duplexing, no color, no multifunction, etc., but what it does do is print in monochrome really well. The basics are all there; WiFi and Ethernet for networking, a basic control panel for notification when something needs attention or to cancel a print, etc. It’s relatively fast and quiet for a printer in this class, too. What sets this printer apart is HP’s newest design for toner. Unlike other printers where you replace an entire cartridge to get more toner, this one stores the toner in a tank that isn’t intended to be removed and replaced. Instead, when it does come time to “refill” the toner, you buy what looks like a huge syringe and squirt the toner into the printer through a hole on the top. In theory, this is far less waste, less garbage and much lower cost. Out of the box, it’s preloaded with enough toner for about 5000 pages. I don’t yet know what a refill for this printer will cost, but I’d be really surprised if it’s not a lot less than a standard toner cartridge. There’s also a nice gauge on the front for the toner level and how many “refills” it can handle. Setup was incredibly easy on my Mac. I downloaded the recommended Mac app and followed the instructions to get it up on WiFi and connected. The app worked surprisingly well and took less than 5 minutes. It also set the printer up for AirPrint on my iOS devices, so that one easy setup did it all. The only thing that didn’t pleasantly surprise me was the removable paper cover for the input tray. I’m not exactly sure what it’s for; perhaps to make the front look nicer or to keep the input paper from getting dusty? Regardless, it hides the paper so you can’t see how much you have left until you get the “paper empty” warning. It also doesn’t slide on or off very easy. Perhaps a design improvement would have had a little window on it to see the paper level? Anyway, the basics on this printer are well-covered but the real benefit for these NeverStop printers is that toner replacement system. It’ll take a while to go through the built-in 5000 pages worth of toner, but when it comes time to add more, I expect it’ll be fast, easy and much more cost effective than other models.

The HP Neverstop Laser printer arrived in quality packaging, typical HP. Upon taking the printer and accessories out discovered it to be very minimalist, the printer, USB cable, two documents, two paper management accessories and a power cable. Printer Setup, seven basic steps, was quickly accomplished and as smooth as any printer I have setup. Only caveat is setting the paper-length guide in the paper input tray could be explained a bit more clearly, but once I got it was as simple as 1-2-3. Connectivity, Network and Wi-Fi setup: - Printer includes a RJ45 Ethernet port for wired. Ethernet 10/100 Base. - Wi-Fi 802.11 B/G/N - First attempted to use android phone with HP Smart app, could not get the Wi-Fi connected. Had same issue last time I attempted using HP Smart app from my Android device to setup up Wi-Fi. - When app fails you are instructed to use a laptop or desktop to connect…. What if you just have a mobile? - Switched to windows 10 laptop and HP Smart app no problem setting up Wi-Fi – very intuitive program, feature rich. - Mobile Printing Support; Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, HP Smart App, Wi-Fi Direct printing, and Mopria certified. Operations and observations: - Fast printer rated at 21 pages a minute. - Typical noise level warming up new print job, after that smooth. - Comes with 5000 pages worth of toner in the printer, ready to go out of the box. - Cartridge free - refillable cartridge. This surprised me with experiences with messy older laser systems. Specs say it will save 60% on future toner reloads. - 32mb of memory – not upgradeable. - 150-page input tray with 100-page output tray. - Duplex printing supported. - Handles up 8.5x14” paper. - 14-27 lb. paper First impressions, I really like the printer’s size, simplicity and design for the intended role in a Home Office, Office or Students Desk. Power cord does not have Power Brick, big plus for me. What is good, warms up quickly and print speeds are lighting quick, the print output is extraordinarily sharp. What is remarkable is so much great printing in such a small box. Love it.

I am doing a lot more printing at home now and the normal inkjet printers just aren't cutting it for me any more. I needed something more reliable for bulk printing, fast, easy to use and economical. This HP Neverstop fits the bill. - Set was simple. I plugged it in, download the HP Smart App, easily connected the printer and within minutes I was printing. I love that I could connect it to my network on the app and not on a tiny screen like most printers - Speed. This thing is fast. Minimal lag time when printing from my laptop or iPhone. - Quality printing. My printouts look terrific, clear, no bleeding and deep blacks. - Small footprint. I love that this printer takes up less space than most laser printers. Doesn't overpower my bookcase. - 5,000 pages! That's amazing, it's going to be a long time before I need more ink and when I do it will be easier and cheaper with the printers refill process. I have nothing bad to say about this printer, best laser I've used at this price point.

This laser printer is more than sufficient to meet the needs of work from home requirements. Some reviewers have stated the the printer is noisy. I do not find it so. The printer is fairly quiet and has a small footprint on my desk. This printer was very easy to connect to my wireless network and I was operational in less than five minutes! If you just follow the simple instructions included in the box, it is a simple process. I need curbside pickup and that was very easy & convenient. I was in/out of the designated parking space in less than 5 minutes. Great purchase & great service!

Light weight laser printer with a very low-cost toner replenishment system. The output is clear, satisfying and economical. The compromise is that there is no built-in duplexing included and the machine itself is not on the robust side of a build. The flimsy plastic paper cover is unnecessary and easily discarded. I was reassured when I saw how many sources supply compatible toner refills. That indicated that the product should have an assured toner supply.

I have printing at least then times. It is fast as mustang GT. It was easy to setup and connect. Looks that adding toner will be very easy. The bad thing it is painful to setup the printer using Android phone. It do not work while setting it up on my Pixel 3 with Android 10. I use my windows PC after that no other issue for setting it up on my WiFi networks. For some reason HP use a weird port that my Work laptop blocks using Norton Antivirus. I cannot blame HP for that. I can only blame my work IT because they are crazy.

I love this printer for its ease of setup and use EXCEPT for two things. The first is the poor design of the paper tray more than half the time when you have to remove the top to add more paper it pulls out the bottom with it. The way to avoid this is to not push the tray cover all the way in place. The second is the lack of double sided printing at this price all the $50-$100 old Samsung LJ printers had double sided printing and the $100-$150 Cannon and Brother ones do too. Ok but its not all Bad here are the GOOD points that still make it worth buying despite the issues above. The whole concept of literally just buying and adding toner to the printer and not having to buy a toner cartridge is revolutionary! It is cost effective for the home user you can buy 2 refills for only $29! or 1 for $16. Also the setup is waaay easy and once you have it setup on your home network your Windows 10 PCs will automatically see it and ask to install the HP App for it super easy install for all your computers with no hassle.

    Discontinuation Surprise

Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently purchased a printer, and unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s my detailed review: Discontinuation Surprise: I bought this printer with high hopes, but less than a year later, I discovered that it had been discontinued. This revelation left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. It’s essential to check whether a printer model is still actively supported before making a purchase. Ink Cartridge Woes: Almost immediately after setting up the printer, I encountered issues with the ink cartridges. They seemed to be perpetually problematic, causing unnecessary headaches. As someone who relies on a printer for work, this was a significant inconvenience. Slow Customer Service: When I submitted a repair request while the printer was still under warranty, I expected prompt assistance. Unfortunately, it took an excruciating four months for them to respond. By the time they did, my warranty had expired. Their timing felt deliberate, leaving me feeling helpless and financially burdened. Financial Impact: This printer was the most expensive one I’ve ever purchased within our family budget. The unexpected breakdown hit me hard, especially when I needed it for work to earn extra income. It’s frustrating to invest in a product only to have it fail when you need it the most. A Costly Mistake: In hindsight, buying this printer turned out to be a complete waste of money. I wish I had known about its discontinuation and potential issues beforehand. It’s crucial to research thoroughly and consider long-term support when investing in any technology. Transparency Matters: Sellers should be transparent about whether a printer model is discontinued. Customers deserve to know what they’re purchasing, especially when it comes to significant investments like printers. My experience serves as a cautionary tale for others. In conclusion, my printer ordeal has taught me to be more vigilant when buying technology. Always verify a printer’s status, read reviews, and consider long-term support. And remember, even the most expensive models can disappoint if they’re not adequately supported. I hope my review helps others make informed decisions.

I finally had to replace my 15 year old workhorse HP 3055 Laser Printer due to printer issues and lack of software support due to the age. I decided to get the Neverstop 1001nw due to the interesting method of refilling the printer rather than having to replace cartridges, and I might say that I am quite pleased so far. Fast performance, easy to setup, and lets me print from my iOS devices which is really handy. And as an added benefit, very light compared to my old 3055 which was a back breaker to move. Please so far!

It works decently, prints well. Having to manually flip the pages for double sided printing is a bit annoying. The worst thing is it sometimes feeds two sheets through when printing the second side, which destroys the document (this has happened at least 4 times so far). I have printed a full ream's worth of pages, and so far one page has jammed. It was fairly easy to open the printer, pull the toner cartridge and clear the jam.

My old Canon printer was crap so when I bought this for black and white printing. It comes with enough ink for 5,000 pages so even if I never replaced the ink, that is about 5 cents per page versus about 40 cents for my old printer. Ink replacement is a breeze and much cheaper than most printers. This printer warms up very fast and prints quickly too. Print quality is excellent (It is a laser.) but of course is only black and white. It does handle legal paper as well. The only problem I see is that the cover for the paper tray is a little loose.

The printer is really good. I love a great laser copy. The Epson inkjet I was using was nice and economical, but I really only use monochrome copies, so it's a waste to have the colors available when I never use them. Bought this as an alternative and the printer is indeed an HP, reliable, good, etc. However, it's safe to say that pulling teeth is easier and more reliable than connecting this printer to my wifi network. My network is not weak, nor is it a bad one, as I have a one-story and all of my devices can connect at the drop of a hat. This one does not want to connect. At the moment, I'm using the cable until I can take the time to try to get it to connect. I'll look at it again when 1) it's time to reload the toner and 2) I finally make the connection. If I never get it connected, I'll be OK, as I only use this on my personal computer, the wireless is used by other members of the family. And if this means I can have an HP laser printer without having to take out a loan to buy a toner cartridge, then it'll be worth it. Maybe drop the price down on later models so that you can spread the HP word out there?
