I purchased the HP Officejet 3830 all-in-one printer recently, and have used it a few times. It has worked well for my needs (printing bank statements and other documents, etc.). I don't know yet how well the printer will do over the longer run, but so far it has done well. The printer is lightweight, and easily portable from one location to another. The only difficulty I had was in getting the printer to connect to my modem for wireless printing (which took over 2 hours, while speaking to an HP service tech).

I bought this printer because of it's price. Very affordable. The main use for this printer will be to print from an iPad. It was very easy to set this printer up on the wifi network in my house. I might have glanced over the instructions for 2 mins, but didn't rely on them. I'm a network engineer, so this is easy stuff for me. I'm giving this a 4 star because I haven't had a full 3 month cycle of use with it yet. But all is good so far.

I was pleasantly surprised by this printer. It prints good quality and at a decent speed. I bought it because it was on sale for $40, which was cheaper than the cartridges for my old printer. The HP instant ink support is a nice addition at this price point too. Great for a student, or for someone who doesn't need to print a ton of stuff, or the need for super high resolution prints, although it can print some really nice photos. You can't go wrong for such little price!

This product is the worst! I've had this product for a little less than a year. The installation process was a huge pain compared to other products that I've used in the past. More often than not it will not print. There's always an error saying that it needs intervention and when it does print, it prints out a week later. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE! You get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and get something better! Would I recommend to a friend?? Heck no!

Hello, thank you for taking the time to submit a review, I appreciate your feedback and I am sorry for all the inconvenience caused. A User Intervention Required message displays on the computer, and the printer does not print. The issue might be caused by a printer error condition, corrupted print jobs, or a weak printer wireless connection. Setting up the manual IP address connection is a more direct method of communicating to the printer. Remember HP Support is always there to fix all your issues. Please follow the guidelines in these documents to fix this issue:http://hp.care/2sA5Z1W You can also contact HP Support in case you need further assistance: http://hp.care/2nbNQFi HP

This printer has been a real work horse for me and I like the fact that the ink is sent automatically to me. The only bad part is I lost a driver and had to call HP support. This service needs alot of help. On hold for over an hour and then I get disconnected and they dont call you back even though they said they would. My suggestion is when you do get a hold of someone just act like your real mad and tell them youve been disconnected before.

My wife originally purchased this printer, and later changed her mind and wanted to take it back. Rather than take it back I told her I would swap my older printer for this printer and give her the money she paid for it. The printer was very easy to install, and the features are fantastic. I have yet to use the fax and wifi features yet, but feel that I will have no problem. The ink it uses, HP63, for both color and black. Both are very easy on the purchase price, and the ink lasts for quite a few printings.

This printer is super easy to set up. And I like the fact that if I need to print something while I'm at work but I don't want people at work seeing what I printed on the office printer I can print it from my phone to my printer at home. Also HP has this ink program that if you print less than 10 pages a month you get free ink. Or if I go over it's like 10 cents a page, but since I don't print much I already got a free shipment of ink.

I bought my previous HP some 11 years ago. A durability champ, it slowly wound down to entropy, I shopped this model with fingers crossed. Reliability and simplicity of use were major concerns. Still more important was the two-ink cartridge feature. I wasn't about to weather the hassle of pricey multi-color cartridges. This new printer has met all my needs. Now if only it has the staying power of my original HP....

    College Dorm Printer

I bought this printer for my son for college. It prints great. Installation was not easy. With HPs wireless printers I have had pretty good success setting them up. That has been on home networks. This one was for a college dorm on a more public network that was supposed to be private to the room. It was not an easy set up and we finally settled on a work around. It lacked a USB cable to run it directly from the computer which made it a little more challenging to work with. Price was great. Although ink prices seem to be getting higher and higher.

I replaced an old Canon all in one model so I can't compare it to other wireless printers. I will say though that set up was very easy. If you know your network password, you can follow the prompts on the printer and your smartphone (if you will be using one yo print remotely). It does everything I expected:print quickly and quietly from anywhere in the house, scan, and copy. Sending a document to print at home while I'm out was a bonus. Even if you've never set up a printer I feel like an inexperienced user could do it.

More of a 3.5 Star rating. Bought the printer for student dorm use. It's not the fastest, but the print quality is good enough. The paper is fed from the top instead of an internal paper tray and requires a little more room in terms of printer depth. Only true negative is that the inkjet cartridge must install through a front slot behind a flip down cover. It can be a little challenging if you have large size hands. Basic printer, nothing special.

We have a higher quality printer from HP. So I needed to go and get ink at B.B. and saw this printer on sale for a very inexpensive price. Acquire it and now use it as a secondary printer and when the printing requirements are of the one page. The other printer has the capability of using both sides of the paper so it is more eco friendly but when all it’s needed is one page or is required to have separated pages this make do. Is small enough that it sits next to our bigger one and does not stands out.

I love the fact that all I have to do is email the document that I need printed to the HP Office Jet's personalized email. By the time I get to the printer, the document is usually there, unless I'm having internet delays. Last time I had a printer like this, I ran out of ink fast, but they have an ink program that, based upon how frequently you print, the HP Office Jet will send a message to request more ink automatically, for as low as 2.99 per need. Overall, it's pretty easy and very low maintenance.

I had an old HP All in one. More than 10 yrs old. It has served me well. Still works but couldn't print wirelessly because it predates Bluetooth and USB connection. This one was perfect for the $ and its smaller & sleek looking as well. Easy out of the box installation and everybody in the house is connected from their own rooms. The BB salesman was very knowledgeable and patient too. He answered all my questions (and there were plenty). I am so glad I found this item and I havent even used all the features yet.

I went to Best Buy looking for a different HP printer that was also an Officejet, and sadly they did not have it. I asked the lady if they had me in the back and she pointed me to this printer which was much less expensive than the one I was originally looking at it and even had more features! Wow I love that HP instant ink program whenever I need it before I need it, and kiss right here at one door and I can always print out that beautiful picture, thanks Best Buy you all did good this time

I could not get printer to download onto my computer. It kept coming up with " searching for network". After awhile it kept saying "searching for printer". One time it was right in the middle of downloading, it started 'searching for printer'. Called HP & after 4 hours of taking over my computer, they couldn't even get the printer to work. Took the printer back. Wish I would have read the reviews first. Seems like other people had this same problem.

This is my first wireless printer. I am glad that I purchased it because not only can I print from my desktop, I can also print from my tablet, laptop, and cell phone. If someone comes over and needs to print, all I have to do is to give them the code and they can print their documents, too. I am thoroughly satisfied with this all-in-one printer.

Doesn't print color from Office 365, downloaded the additional driver per other blogs stating they had the same problem. Never wakes up from sleep mode when I am just trying to make a copy, I have to completely unplug it. Bought in Aug 17, only owned for 6 months and now it will not print anything. I've run alignment and cleaned cartridges which is does print but, but when I go to make a copy it comes out blank. I've had other HP and no problems but this one is a piece of junk.

I bought this rather inexpensive printer for one purpose - to print out my and my daughters' Christmas card envelopes. The printer design allows for direct feed of paper or envelopes rather than like most other printers which move the paper or envelope around a roller. The rollers of other printers are not kind to foil lined envelopes and they jam up. Would have given it 5 stars, but some of the screen and button motions are tedious and not always intuitive.
