    Excellent

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is part of a new line of smart printers specifically designed for the small business or home office. It's easy to set up, starting with the touch screen and finishing with their Smart Tasks mobile app. Print quality is what you would expect from HP: excellent. The printer is fast - 20 ppm black & white and 10 ppm which prints pages much more quickly then the budget line of color laser printers, and the cost per page is much lower as well. HP also included "8 months of free ink", but that comes with a string -- you have to sign up for their monthly HP Instant Ink program. The 8035 is a full featured printer/scanner with voice activated printing (Alexa or Google Assistant), wireless and mobile printing, duplex printing and capable of outputting resolutions of 4800 x 1200. It also features a large paper tray that accepts multiple paper sizes. You can also save to or print to/from cloud services such as Google Drive or Dropbox. It's also very quiet, which is an important trait many people overlook. The OfficeJet Pro 8035 appears to have a very good build quality, especially for a reasonably priced printer. This OfficeJet has done everything I've asked of it, and has done it well. Wireless connectivity allows convenient placement, the text quality is excellent, and the ink is very inexpensive compared to other inkjet and even color laser printers. If you're looking for a do everything all in one printer, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 should most definately be on your short list.

    True All In One Printer

    Posted .

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is such an easy-to-use printer. It is “All-in-One” plus more. While exploring it’s settings/abilities, I realized that besides the usual printer scan, copy, and fax, it also has already installed apps and you can download more, if necessary. The printer also has a photo option in which you can view & print photos from a USB Drive and even print passport photos. I decided to test this printer’s features. First, I connected the printer to the internet, which was very easy. Once connected, I downloaded the HP Smart App on my phone and quickly connected the printer to my device. I bought photo paper to test it’s photo printing and let me tell you, I printed about 6 - 4”X6” photos, and the quality was great! I was also very satisfied with the quality and quickness of the printer. The ink on the photo prints was dry and it did not smudge at the touch. Next, I inserted 8”x11” regular paper to print documents. The printing was quick and the printer was not loud. I scanned photos to my laptop and they looked as good as the originals. Overall, I am very satisfied with this printer's features and recommend it to anyone wanting more out of a printer. It's a pro version for a reason.

    Printing from everywhere!

HP Office-jet Pro 8035 All-in One Printer is a smart and easy printer to use. I have had many printers over the years and this printer is without a doubt the easiest one I’ve ever set up. Out of the box all I had to was follow a link in the instructions on my IPhone or computer and download the HP printer app. Once downloaded the App walks you through the setup process. The printer can be setup through a standard printer cable directly to your computer, Network cable or wirelessly for multiple users to use. This is a full service printer with printing, scanning, copying and is even Alexa enabled. It has a clear fairly large LED touch screen to work the scanner, copy functions, view ink levels and other setup tools. As a bonus it includes free 8 months of Insta Ink which is great. The print quality is excellent and very quick and is the best HP home office printer I have ever had.

Purchased the hp OJP 8035 July 2019 during a special hp promo at Best Buy. It is a good-looking machine. My favorite aspect is the Quiet setting. The colors and text are fine. It is much faster than the other printers I have had - Dell & Canon. No issues faxing, scanning, or printing. It works as it should. The only aspect I do not like is the paper tray. The paper tray itself is somewhat "sticky" to pull out & push back with every single paper load. The pull-out tab to hold multiple pages is very small and does not seem sturdy. It needs to be manually pulled open each time. Should you forget, your papers/pictures/posters/whatever will fall onto the desk & continue to the floor. I prefer the Canon for this aspect, which automatically opened a large paper tray when printing was engaged. Contrary to what others said in their reviews, I have had no difficulty printing from my iPhone, iPad, or iMac with Catalina OS. All in all, relatively satisfied with the printer and would recommend. In the photo, to be clear, I keep the printer on a stand and keep a supply of paper underneath.

    Nice!

This printer IS an all in one. I can print from anywhere, scan to my computer, and copy. So what's different than any other all in one you ask. 1) touch screen navigation 2) true color representation 3) does it pretty fast. I'm in school, online and have to print off a ton of reading material (yea I'm ole school - see it, touch it, feel it), it's great that I don't have to wait forever until its finished. Loading paper is very easy, the arm on the paper tray can be retracted when not needed. I haven't tried pictures or card stock yet, but I'm fairly sure that this Pro will come through .

Went through a home office remodel and love this all-in-one printer. It was easy to establish the wireless functionality and it is great to be able to position my printer in the closet. It is also nice to have the tray feeder which I use to scan documents. I have also used the fax capabilities to send a document. That was easy to initiate as well. This was a great office tool for the price.

I have always bought HP products and never had a problem. Last printer I bought was NOT an HP. It was a mid price range printer and worked ok for awhile. It finally died so I bought another HP! Lesson learned! Geek squad set it up for me and the tech even said it was the best choice for my Mac. It even had the free ink option. I’m very happy with it!

Great Print Quality, Needs some OS Upgrades

    Posted .

The OfficeJet Pro 8035 is, well, close to the newest version of their incredibly successful line of office-quality printers, but the 9000-series was released almost simultaneously with the 8035, an odd move considering the price points are close to the same. But I digress. The device is what I would call a medium-form factor, not huge but also not compact. It boasts 29 PPM printing at black & white draft quality (20 PPM production) and 20+ PPM color (again, draft quality, with production quality hitting around 10 PPM) fed by a 225-page paper tray. It does all of the other usual OfficeJet functions like scan (1200 dpi), copy, and fax (do people still fax?), much controlled from the front screen or via phone app or PC app. Connection to your network is available with both ethernet (wired) and WiFi, as well as WiFi Direct for just shooting one-and-done jobs to the printer (guests, for example). Print quality for normal jobs was excellent and fast, even in color. Color is achieved with a 4-tank system, so while it will print photos (and does so quite well), if you’re looking for extremely high-resolution color photos you’ll likely lose some of that desired quality with the 4-tank system (versus a 6+ tank system). Black, which is usually the fastest-used, is available in either a standard or XL size, it will accommodate both. So if you’re using this for printing in your small business, you’ll be happy to know replacements won’t be as frequent using the XL tank. The printer also comes with HP’s new “HP Instant Ink” subscription, providing you (UP TO) 8 months of ink free. That comes via a $40 credit that you can apply toward a 4-tiered subscription model where they will send you ink at intervals based on your selection of a usage model (free, which is 15 pages a month, occasional (50/month), moderate (100/month), and frequent (300/month)). If you pick the “frequent” you’re only looking at 4 months before your credits are used up, so the 8-month offer is obviously based on your actual choice of plans. Ultimately, though, this model beats the pants off of finding out at 8 p.m. that you’re out of cyan ink and the printer won’t print anything for you. The HP Instant Ink is a great idea for keeping spare ink in the house or office to keep your projects going. The device is also equipped with direct scanning options to e-mail, Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive. I found, however, that I was completely unable to use the scan-to-Gmail or scan-to-Google Drive. It just simply wouldn’t send the documents to either of those Google products. No error messages, no improper configuration issues, just flat will not work. Messages in the help forums show that this isn’t an isolated issue. Keep in mind that am an IT manager, so I certainly know how to work with these things. It wasn’t a lack of knowledge, rather looks to be a problem with HP’s HPePrint system. Also at issue for me was the slow-to-respond OS in the printer. Often, I would click to scan to e-mail (testing it) and I would be greeted with the “Connecting” spinning circle of death that would last 1-2 minutes while it connected. Other times it would give an error saying the printer wasn’t connected to a network, despite the fact that it was (the HP settings clearly showed it connected). And finally, for the last negative is that configuring this printer via a phone app directs you to a webpage for configuration. The page, however, uses only HTTP and not HTTPS. While that isn’t huge (you’re configuring a printer, not doing online banking), with all modern browsers now shunning non-HTTPS pages, it adds multiple extra steps. For example, if you use Chrome, once directed to the config webpage, Chrome will warn you that you are not using HTTPS, then make you click “Advanced”, then have to add an exception or click that you acknowledge the risks before even being able to get into the web page to configure the device. While this should be an infrequent act, the fact that I had to do this multiple times during the initial set up frustrated me. Some of the issues I believe could be fixed with firmware updates. That said, if they work out the handful of issues with connectivity and slow OS, this would have gotten a 5-star rating from me. But in the end, printing, which is what this is supposed to do, is excellent. Just a couple more steps to make this near-perfect.

    Good, not Great

    Posted .

This printer was not quite what I was expecting. I’m very familiar with printers as I’ve set dozens of them up throughout my life. I know HP to be a top brand in printers. I typically always lean towards business products because they seem to be more reliable than consumer ones. However, I wasn’t quite that impressed with this printer. My first impression of the printer was it feels kind of cheap. Not unusual for printers these days, but the plastic seems cheap and breakable and the parts don’t move that smoothly (Tray, extensions, printer cover). I know a percentage of the plastic is recycled which is great, but I feel like there could have been some better design and quality in it. Next, during the setup process after installing the ink which is straight forward, it wanted to print a test alignment page and then scan it to calibrate the headers. Well I made sure paper was in it and continued with the calibration. It acted like it printed but nothing came out, then it was asking for the next step to scan but I had nothing to scan. I had to reboot the printer and start the process over, this time it printed but it sucked up like 5 sheets of paper in the print. The print came out good except for the end of the paper printed on the other 4 sheets. Scanned and it said it was successful. The device is USB direct, Ethernet, or wireless connection which is nice for options. I used wifi as a temporary connection which I strongly dislike to use with printers as it always seems to cause problems at some point, but so far its working well. Scanned a document that came out nice. One thing I’m not a fan of is the interface. I’m more old school and like to install a software package where it installs the printer driver and any scanning software on your pc. Well here they have their own container of software. You can use your phone, tablet, or PC. I installed the HP software on my pc and it still didn’t add the printer to Windows, I had to go through a manual process to add it in Windows which may be a struggle or hassle for many people who aren’t that familiar with computers. HP seems to tout their software as all you need, but I’m not a fan of it. They have an option to open up their software, select “Print Documents” and it pops up a Window to find your files to print. No thanks, I like printing from inside my documents. The scanning seems okay. You can scan from the PC or directly from the printer, however their fancy software doesn’t setup Windows properly for it. If you can from the printer and I select my PC to scan to, Windows pops up options for WSD Scan Device. I select Scan from the list of 4 items, it scans, and then opens up my Libraries folder not knowing where the scan went. Not very good IMO. You can open up the HP Smart app on your PC to scan which works fine. You can preview, then save as pdf or jpg, and save, print, or share it. There are a lot of potential features such as cloud printing or printing from any device anywhere. Like I said, I’m more old school and like a straight forward printer that makes my life easy so I won’t be using much of the cloud features but I did try the scan and print feature from my iPhone while connected to wifi which was pretty nice. I was impressed it worked as well as it did. The printer also comes with an “8 months of ink”, which is basically a $40 prepaid card for their ink delivery service ($5/month for 100 pages Instant Ink plan) and appears to be an automatic process with your printer ordering it for you. Overall, I wasn’t a big fan of this printer initially because of the quality and it not appear to be working correctly at first with the printing but it has seemed to do better in the few days since. The print quality seems good and the scan quality seems decent. I’ll update the review once I’ve had more extended time to get a better experience with it.

This is my first HP printer in some time. I have used them in the past and they have been OK, but lately I’ve been using models from another manufacturer. Things have really changed for the better since my last HP printer. SET-UP Setting up the printer was a breeze. I downloaded the HP Smart app to my iOS device and it walked me through the set-up process step-by-step. Getting the printer configured, loaded with ink, paper, and finalizing settings took about 10 minutes max. The whole process went without issue. Anyone, even the less technically savvy, should easily be able get the printer up and running without fuss. PRINTING I will admit, this printer creates very nice and detailed documents. The printer uses a 4 tank set-up for ink and HP claims output at 10ppm in color and 20ppm for black and white with a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. My first test was with a 29 page document (using HP’s default settings) that had some photos, colored fonts, and text. Total print time was 2 minutes and 54 seconds. HP numbers appear to be spot on. Text is sharp and crisp. The photos were clear and vibrant with little, if any, pixelation from the ink droplets. Very nice! I have had no issues printing with any desktop, Android, or iOS device. Windows 10 instantly recognized the network printer after my PC’s were booted up. The necessary drivers were automatically installed without intervention or issue. The printer also supports Air Print for iOS devices too. This is especially nice for guests who don’t need to install an app just to print. SCANNING / COPYING / FAXING The printer supports a maximum scanning resolution of 1200dpi. My scans have all been crisp and colors seem to be captured and represented very well. The ability to scan to several different services (Google, Dropbox, etc) is convenient and much appreciated. The copy function works as promised. The printer supports a maximum copy resolution of 600dpi and all my copies have turned out great. Pages are copied and reproduced quickly. For larger documents, the printer has a 35 sheet Auto Document Feeder (ADF). I have fed dozens of pages through the ADF and have not had a page fail to feed or have one load slightly crooked. HP claims a maximum fax resolution of 300dpi, which is very common for most machines, but I have not been able to test the fax functionality. FINAL THOUGHTS Like I stated before, this is my first HP printer in quite some time and I have come away impressed. Technology has really improved even since I bought my last office printer just a couple of years ago. Not only can this printer do what my older printer can do, it does it in half the size. Text is much crisper and photos are vibrant and lifelike. Factor in the ease of set-up, the ability to print, copy, and scan to and from sites and devices with little more than a button push, and the 8 months ($40 credit) that HP includes, I feel it is a very good buy.
